You got me into sailing when you bought Parity. I was one of your first subscribers. You really have a talent for making videos that are relatable and got me through a rough time in my life. Just wanting to drop a comment saying it meant something to me and you helped. I hope life treats you well.
love the video. not sure the exact coast guard regulations, but i think you're supposed to keep certain sized buckets on board depending on the size of craft (for bailing purposes). keep the videos coming man!!!
This is why I will always prefer tiller steering. Makes single-handing so much easier. You're always at the front of the cockpit, where all the sheets, halyards and winches are within easy reach.
Well sir, this brought many memories of My late Dad taking rookies out sailing and having to “teach” line and winch handling! Of course we didn’t have the fancy winches of today and he Was always cautioning NOT to get your fingers to close the line as it wound around the winch out of fear of losing a finger or twelve ! But always tons of fun!
Wicked Salty gives good real life boating videos. Billy & Cierra (Tula) are off the New England coast area right now, in a catamaran....it would be an interesting video if you met them again.
Thank you, yeah have been in quite a few situations like this, always think of the safe plan, keeping far enough away from shore downwind and current to drift away from danger, having the anchor ready at all times if needed, sail covers off helps too but we powered out there in virtually no wind to start.
I had this happen the first time I went to the bahamas in 17 on the way back. conveniently it was light weather the whole time so i crossed the whole bank between the berries to bimini with a nonfunctional engine, and I could stop basically anywhere. Then i got a tow back to the states thanks to boatUS towing (everyone in the us should get this, it is *CHEAP*). Turned out to be stuck cylinder from the following sea getting up the exhaust. The metal cap had stuck in the open position. After a bunch of soaking with marvel mystery oil the issue cleared up.
Hey Wes, you're a Yamaha outboard technician, right? How hard was it to become one? Would you recommend it as a job for a middle aged man that lives in a boat? I'm looking to get out of the transportation industry after nearly 3 decades. Too much time away from the water. Good to see you still going sailing. Thanks for your work with the Coast Guard. All the amateur boaters are great job security 🤣👍🏻
@@granularSodacan it would be easy, you just need to find a job where they service yamahas and have Yamaha technicians. They would be the ones to send you to Yamaha school could talk it out with them. I worked for freedom boat club in the yard that’s who sent me, he was willing to send me to as many classes as I could attend. School for each cert is around a week long, some can be challenging, drive train was but others I’d assume easier. I’d guess boat yards in general send their guys to Yamaha school as well.
@@WickedSalty Yes, I have reviewed the video again and @ 3:20 it looks like your block is way forward. This causes the sheet to rub on your dodger sides. On my set up I have 2 blocks with the 2nd one just aft of the winch. Maybe that is what that deck mounted block is for. Regardless, I love that your back making videos!!
My m25xp is junkola. Tired of it so much. I am going with a 14hp and feathering prop. Much faster sailing and motor sailing I figure. Of course I'll let you know the results.
One of my favorite channels back in the day! Good to see you're still around. 😊
It's still awesome to see you back you and sailboat story where the ones that inspired me to be cruising as I am now I hope our paths cross soon
You original channel inspired me to learn sailing, buy a sailboat and take off which I did. back on land now but so glad I did it...thanks

Thank you, means a lot. really appreciate you sticking around and the years of support. Hope life is treating you well too
N. West!
Good to see the channel back up and running. Good shit man 🤙🏽
Nice job skipper. Training a new crew is an art form, testing the trainer and trainee alike! Love Eaton's Neck.
Thanks for posting and sharing🙂 This video hopefully will help the crew to remember that they had some fun, excitement and adventure!

I agree and tiller extensions make it even easier, they also have cheaper and simpler forms of auto helm.
@@WickedSalty Yep. We have a Raymarine ST2000. Great little thing.

It's a lot to teach but so cool once everybody starts to jive.
great video on how to overcome a bad situation without panic (seemingly). good job

Way to keep it positive when you have to shout orders. Not easy when you just need something done, and quickly.

I see a whisker pole in your future.
😎
Where ya been?!
where'd you go? not sailing anymore?
After I release this (beer), then I go up to man the main sheet? That is what it looked like. 😄
Really miss Kate. What's going on w/her?
Where is Wicked Salty, it has been a month?

I think your missing some blocks for your Jib sheets.
