Definitely, he has the ability to write the darkest piece of music that would make you take your life and then he has the knack to write the most uplifting piece of pop like Just like heaven or Friday I'm in love. That's true genius.
The Cure was way more than just music. It was a time, hair, dance, movies. It was my high school. Pictures of you & just like heaven take me right back to the 80's❤❤❤❤
since nearly 40 years i listen the cure and it never gets boring...^^ and the lp with boys dont cry was one of my first ever... and i still have them and love them like the first day...^^
And I don't think I see very much of their music being reacted to on You Tube. I would say she could corner the market on it, but everyone else would copy her right away. They all seem to watch what others are doing and copy it pretty soon after.
in the 80's... her: shy, dark eye shadow, wool trench coat with a " the cure " button on the lapel me: always at the ready with a mixed tape to impress her
Just like heaven and I was on the dance floor! Very important band to know about. They were inducted into the Hall of Fame 2019. The genre is arguable we thought of it as alternative, new wave.
This is one of my all time favorite songs by The Cure and they've continually evolved through the decades musically standing the test of time. Boys Don't Cry is The Cure in the prime stages of when they were in the post punk, New wave and pop sensibility phase.
i always thought this reaction video stuff was dum... but seeing you get into the music of my teenage years is so refreshing. you are ace. keep up the good work!
By far, the most talented mucisians played in this band that influenced generations. So glad to have lived through the 80s and later decades listening to The Cure! 😊😊😊♥️♥️♥️
The Cure is VERY important to the alternative music genre. Try: "Catch", "Disintegration", "How Beautiful You Are",. "Six Different Ways", "Love Cats", "Untitled", "Secrets" , "Love Song", "100 Years",etc.... There's so bloody many!!
"Boys don't cry" - one of my heartbreak music pieces back in the 80s. You sould alos try "In between days", "Close to me" and "Lovecats". The Cure is a great band.
Two excellent songs. The Cure had quite a bit of hits. Very catchy tunes talking about serious stuff. If you get a chance, check out The Smiths/Morrissey. Dark themes with great unforgettable music.
OMG! You reacted to The Cure! "Boys Don't Cry" makes me cry as it reminds me of my friend Joe was died in a car accident many years ago. The DJ on the local alternative station played this song in his memory the night Joe died.
Hi beautiful young lady! Happy to see your out of the hospital, now take care of yourself for your child and yourself and us to see your reaction! Love your passion!
I like Primary from The Cure. I'd also suggest some Siouxsie and the Banshees if you'd like to explore more of this type of music. Dazzle is my favorite from them.
I was in high school in the 80's and Boys Don't Cry was one of the first song on my very first mix tape a buddy made for me. The Cure is one of those strange bands that are beloved across musical genres. Metal kids and punks know the songs just as much as alternative kids and goths do.
I came to the cure late in the 80s. This is awesome. And India, you are great! I love music and your expressions are just like mine when I here something new. Thank you for the memories.
i think it's a very British thing. One of the first songs I ever remember (being born in 1977) was this one. Crying as a boy, is seen as a weakness, and still to this day, i avoid it like the plague. Men must be seen as strong in times of grief even if you heart is breaking. I've rarely cried in front of family. the last time was when I had to bury two of our dogs Meg (14 years old), and Sable(13 years old), who died within a month of each other. Sable was the most beautiful doberman and Meg a Yorkshire terrier. Having to sign a 'death warrant' for each of my best friends, then having to dig graves for them, did me in. I had major league depression and guilt after that, like nothing I've ever felt before, even with true family. Boys do cry....eventually, anyhow :-(
Came here to listen to Boys don’t Cry and didn’t even notice that you were also playing Just Like Heaven,a song that I never knew the title of and forgot that I’d even heard, and also liked. Thanks for playing them.
I love The Cure, have all their CDs. The new one was supposed to be out last year, still waiting. The most romantic song I think is 'High' you should give it a listen.
Classic new wave/ early alternative rock. The cure still make music 40 years later. Robert Smith helped establish the pale skin, dark hair, red lipstick look.
will never ever forget robert smith singing and playing guitar on "pictures of you" live at the palace of auburn hills. the emotion was off the charts and the stage with super long sheets floating to the wind with light machines behind was so awesome. love the cure and i will if i live to 100.
I love, love, love The Cure. They were the epitome of 1980s alternative music. They could reach into your soul with their lyrics and entrancing dance music. You have to understand that this was dancefloor music to play at clubs and dances. This drew people to the floor!
I am so glad you have reacted to The Cure, especially an older hit such as Boys Don’t Cry. I don’t know how I have missed this reaction until now. Glad I saw it.
This is back from my day! (yes, I'm old!) I just loved the late 70's early 80's - lots of British, alternative / punk / pop - whatever you want to call it. Oh, the days. 💞
Heh, 1987 calling... A few other classic tunes by The Cure are "Let's Go to Bed," "Close to Me," "In Between Days," and "Lovesong," along with many others. And for Dinosaur Jr., check out "Feel the Pain" from 1994.
You have just discovered some of the greatest musicianship, lyrics, and story telling the 80's and 90's had to offer through The Cure. They are lovely, lovely, lovely...
Oh, such memories this evokes!! New Wave night on Thursdays, mid-‘80s, at Milwaukee’s The Ave dance spot. The Cure, New Order, Midnight Oil, REM, The Communards, Erasure...
The Cure's best album is still "Pornography"(1982) -"Cold" and "Siamese Twins" on that album and my favorites to this day. I like everything single song they've ever done just get sick of "Friday I'm In Love" and freaking "Just Like" heaven. The only two songs anyone still seems to know. It's much like Nick Cave another man who I like everything he's every single thing he's ever done and "Red Right Hand" is the only song anyone knows from him as well. Robert Smith is still stellar live, saw him live two years ago he played live for three hours straight and it was amazing! I wish more people would also listen to Siouxsie and Banshees which Robert Smith played with as well.
My favorite band growing up, they were on a level on their own, so different and so cool. I will be forever grateful to the Cure as they got me through some hard times in my teen years, listening to them made me feel like someone got me. Cheer's for this

In Between Days & Pictures of You are 2 of my other favorite songs of theirs. They are to be releasing a new album this year and I couldnt be more excited🤗
Once upon a time the UK was the hub of music of experimental and also influence from around the whole World past, present to the future including the USA and visa versa. We had various TV programs open to all and legends like John Peel who would search for music no matter how famous or small. Then it was all pigeon holed. Apart from a very few No more music TV channels on terrestrial TV for everyone to watch together. People like Simon Cowell come along and dictate what throw away stars are in or out. The Cure for many of us is way more than music, it has carried us through so much and means the world to us. This has been the soundtrack to my every painful and beautiful moment in my life.
Two absolute bangers from my youth, great choice, every time i hear these I’m immediately transported back,i knew where i was and what i was doing, life was so much easier back then .👍
The Cure has been around since around 1976. They have released more singles, and more music videos, than I can count. Robert Smith is the lead singer, and is the only remaining original member of The Cure. He is a great songwriter, who has kept his songwriting, and his band's image, fresh and unique for over 40 years. The first music video of The Cure I watched was in 1981 for their song, "Let's Go To Bed". One line from that song that I will always remember, is this one: "If you think you're tired now, just wait until Three". WOW!!! Robert Smith was a seasoned veteran of numerous tours of the UK at this point in his career, and knew how much of a grind life on the road can be. That must have impressed the programmers at MTV, in their decision to add the music video to their rotation in 1981.
I have seen the Cure twice 1 time in the 80s and the 90's they did not get the respect that they deserved the radio stations did not play there music other than AM stations playing New Wave music or alternative music later on some stations play there music buts its NOT there 80's stuff.. I also saw singer Robert Smith play lead guitar for Siouxsie and the banshee, before he left.. I have been so blessed to have a mother, teenage sister and family friend take me to sooooooooo many concerts I have an a huge album of saved concert ticket stubs I saved from all the concerts I attended..
Sooo glad you did these. The cure was my teenage sound track. And yeah, it wasn't til the '80s that society started saying it was ok for men to cry, til then I guess we just had to swallow it
It is so hard for me to know that there is a whole generation that doesn't know the Cure
Just like heaven is permanently on my playlist
I know we're getting old ugh..
not only that but all the great music and movies over the centuries lost on generations.
Well said Julie, their parents should have told them !
what do you mean? The cure is very prevalent in the new generation. I'm part of that generation
@@kareeem Yes, since we are all part of different communities then there are different realities.
Robert Smith is one of the greatest songwriters of all time.
Fact.
THE best !
Yup
Definitely, he has the ability to write the darkest piece of music that would make you take your life and then he has the knack to write the most uplifting piece of pop like Just like heaven or Friday I'm in love. That's true genius.
Completely. Not even up for discussion.
I don’t know why I even care about what a stranger thinks of various songs, but I can’t stop watching these videos.

Weird isnt it, I've been addicted for well over a year and its led me to some great music I probably wouldn't have otherwise found.
Lol yes I agree

Him Bike great answer
same here.... I think we should start a support group! 😂
These two songs by The Cure's will sound just as great in a million years
The Cure was way more than just music. It was a time, hair, dance, movies. It was my high school. Pictures of you & just like heaven take me right back to the 80's❤❤❤❤

These guys have a ridiculously dedicated fanbase.

Jumping Someone Else's Train
Pictures of You
Burn
Lawrence Gillies Disintegration
How can you forget Lullaby? The Forest, yes. But the long version of 13 minutes that is live with the extra verses on. That is worth listening to.
Yes the 13mn live version is just amazing
Because they give EVERYTHING on stage for the fans. They're just as loyal to the fans. Also that crazy ass ability to do 3+ hours each show. 🙌🏼
since nearly 40 years i listen the cure and it never gets boring...^^ and the lp with boys dont cry was one of my first ever... and i still have them and love them like the first day...^^
Please do more Cure. They have a huge discography of great songs.
And I don't think I see very much of their music being reacted to on You Tube. I would say she could corner the market on it, but everyone else would copy her right away. They all seem to watch what others are doing and copy it pretty soon after.
