Seen madchild a few times live remember listening to swollen members back in high school still use this song as my wake up alarm good way to start the day.
What I find interesting is that the lyrics have some deep meanings and there are some pretty cool references; Mozart, Hannibal Lecter, Dante's Inferno, and Jack Nicholson's Joker, but then there are these random girls just standing around half naked. Besides that, this has become one of my new favorite songs! Love the beat, love the lyrics!

The reason they don't get as much props as they should is because the government doesn't want that. They want mainstream rap to corrupt the minds of the young so that they can grow up to be senseless "Criminals" so that they can raise their children to be just as ignorant and so that they can use their own doing as an excuse to lock them up and keep them in the system because they are spinless snakes. Every politician needs their brains blown all over the place. Only the strong minded know where I'm coming from. We need to do something about it ASAP. This is starting to piss me off.

Prevail rarely swears and tends to use an expansive vocabulary. The subject matter of his lyrics is generally quite dark. He often makes references to literature and entertainment.
There is this song from probably over 20 years ago called Ventilate with Babu - you just reminded me of it. Prevail talks about how he is in the library reading Icarus kinetics and English and madchild is out breaking his back spending money on the band. It was a battle. Some of the most lyrical underground at the time. I need to go hear it again.

That's actually a good question. This song, "The Whole World" by Outkast and some ICP songs sound like old time circus like music. I don't think there's a genre for this, just some songs by groups who have dabbled in this steampunk rap for lack of a better term with a few of heir songs.
So I've always considered this genre to b underground rap. Been bumping kmk and icp, potluck, blaze ya dead homie, tech nine and other similiar artists for the past 20 years or so and to me they all fall within this "underground" genre.
