I dont think none other hindi movie had showcase such kind of storyline, directorship, music and off course performances. Aishwerya Roy was superbly directed in this movie, Rituparno Ghosh gave her a new image through such character, and she proved herself that she really has such caliber to perform such complicated character. Have been fan of Ajay devgan for his performance in Gaangajal, Apaharan etc ...but little I knew about RAINCOAT. Watched the movie recently and got to say such a natural and phenomenal acting of both Ajay and Ash. Must watch for people who enjoy realistic movies.👍
The movie was a masterpiece, but what is the unique element is the music and songs. Shobha Mudgal has not been used like this by any one. It is a pity that the hindi film industry has not explored the talent of Devjyoti Misra, the music director, he is definitely in league with AR Rehman if not better.
This is not a movie from bollywood, this is a bengali movie. If you do really want to associate a region with it call it an Indian movie, but bollywood cannot even touch the levels of this movie in any respect...

যখন ঋতুপর্ণ ঘোষ ছবি বানাতেন তখন খুব ছোট ছিলাম। এখন উনার কাজ গুলো দেখে নিজেকে সমৃদ্ধ করার চেষ্টা করি। উনি যখন ছিলেন উনার সঠিক মুল্যায়ন হয়তো হয়নি। কিন্তু মানুষের আয়ু শুধু তার বেঁচে থাকার সময় টুকুই নয়। মানুষ বেঁচে থাকে তার কাজ, তার সৃষ্টির মাধ্যমে। সেই ভাবে বেঁচে থাকুক ঋতুপর্ণ ঘোষ। আমরা ভালোবেসে যাই উনাকে।

Someone very close to me recommended this movie to watch, and after watching it I cried like anything, but one thing that still bothers me is the personality of that person, that, how a person having a sense of feeling such deep emotions could be so cold in person!
