The purpose of power concerning the hierarchy is meant to be therapeutic. In my tradition,Orthodox, confession to Christ with my Priest present is therapeutic. (Among other therapeutic aspects) My Priest consults with the Bishop before jumping ahead on new projects. The Bishop gathers with a Council of Bishops who cooperate on ways to serve the people.
Glenn, I recently ordered leviathan and slaying leviathan. I saw your speech online at the FLF this year. It was really good. I purchased both L, SL and Why you think the way you do, shortly after the speech. In fact I am literally about to open up SL and read it before jumping into Leviathan. Glad i found this podcast. Looking forward to getting to know everyone. I drive a lot for work so to find this podcast is an untapped goldmine for me today!
Have you done a commentary video on this? I am interested in how Anglicanism is filling the meaning void for Protestantism that some commentators (such as Vervaeke and Pageau) indicate is present only in Orthodoxy and Catholicism.
@@modusponens1 I'm Orthodox, and I went through Anglicanism to get here. It's a good choice for anyone feeling the pull of tradition, especially if they are coming from a fundamentalist background. Anglicans typically have a high view of education, and the likes of NT Wright are helpful for coming to terms with the necessity of scholarship.
I would highly recommend you and your listeners watch the video "Pseudo-Dionysius? Against pseudonymity with Evangelos Nikitopoulos". We do a great disservice to the truth and to Dionysius by calling him Pseudo. People don't want to place him in his true context because it means the life of the early church and its theology look different.
