Also Misfits: Jerry Only becomes the singer.

I was a teenager when he joined the band and the Misfits reformed, and I remember the argument about "Misfits" vs "Newfits". I really liked his voice, it was unique like Danzig's but different. I genuinely like songs on both albums he did; Scream is one of my favorite songs ever. I've never seen an interview with him (at least not as an older adult), he really is not what I expected at all haha. Then again I'm not at all the person I was when I was listening to him. This makes me like him even more honestly, seems like such a chill dude. I remember hearing about his politics, so all around he's just an awesome dude haha. By politics, I mean believing in reality and the concept of normal being firmly planted in his head.

My 2 favorite Misfits albums, Mike is the reason I really got into the Misfits. He's a brilliant songwriter and singer, I never get tired on those two albums. Wish they reissued them on vinyl.

    • @erincrigger3284
      @erincrigger3284 5 лет назад +3

Aside from the original line up? The original line-up of this Misfits (Jerry's Misfits 1995-2016) was with Graves; the 77-83 Misfits is a completely different band that had 5 major line ups:
      1977~Glenn, Jerry and Manny
Static Age era 1978~Glenn, Jerry, Franché Coma (joined when Manny was still in the band) and Mr. Jim
Horror Business era 1979~Glenn, Jerry, Bobby Steele and Joey Image
Walk Among Us era 1980-1982~Glenn, Jerry, Doyle and Googy (actually joined when Bobby Steele was still in the band)
Earth A.D. era 1982-1983~Glenn, Jerry, Doyle and Robo
Glenn ended this Misfits on October 29th, 1983 then 11 years later Jerry started his own band and used the Misfits name/image for it; the only continuation of the 77-83 Misfits is The Original Misfits.

@Baltazar G. I missed your insightful comment; Personally I enjoyed the Graves' era of Jerry's Misfits (I saw them 6 times between 1996-2000 and twice when Graves returned for several shows in 2001) but they weren't "The Misfits" and had nothing to do with what Glenn built other than being a part cover/part original metal-pop punk band that used the Misfits name/image in order to get an instant audience, book bigger shows and get a major label record deal.

    AMERICAN PSYCHO
    DIG UP HER BONES
    SCREAM
    FIEND CLUB
    Bow out...
Then Danzig comes for a 3rd encore and hits that NOTE...

this reminds me of the Jason Newsted/Metallica situation. always the "new" guy that is the odd man out.
however, i will say that from the perspective of Jerry and Doyle and mostly Jerry, they had just gotten out of a lengthy court battle in where they had to fight for the right to use the misfits name and merchandise. Jerry and Doyle made it seem like they wrote like 30% of the music which i believe based on the quality of American Psycho, Famous Monsters , and musically, albums after those. Danzig is talented, but he has always hidden behind his guitarists or musicians. he has a good idea. but his bands make them better. i've heard various sources saying that all the misfits helped arrange the songs, so yes Danzig did technically write the song, but the band MADE the song what it is.
So i don't blame Jerry for being cautious, demanding, bitchy at, and extra expecting of Graves at that time. they probably saw it as "look bro, we just had to put up with years of litigation with Glenn, and honestly its our way or the highway with you.". honestly Doyle is an off/on fella , so Graves really should've been that "where do you want me? i'll go, what's the date ?" guy , instead of the chud me and doyle are really cool... Well, we all see how that worked out. the truth is that they're a disfunctional band , and probably only now , have matured somewhat.

Biggest mistake Misfits ever made. Michale was the lufe blood of their return. He was the driving force of the comeback. And seeing how his firing led to the misfits fading into tiny little shows proved that. Misfits could of been huge with Graves. It was he was introducing new generations into the band. But now its just the hardcore old school fans, with jeery on vocals. Now im a huge misfits fan and i love jerry he seems like a legit great guy. But jerry cant sing worth a shit, his vocals are not terrible but he is absolutely a terrible front man. He lacks the presence and command of a great singer. Danzig has it, Graves has it, Axel rose has it, David lee roth, etc. Jerry Only singing is kinda sad, because it just showcasing the band cant move on.

I was never a fan of the Graves era. It should have been Glenn or nothing.
