Mine just started to crap out in the Y-axis with a TMC2100 while making full circles ( I installed it on a simple Cartesian machine). It will manage the first brim line, then the second to fourth one will have the 'click' and then the next one will not even move in Y, only the X and causes it to print a solid line. I will try to install Marlin on it and see if it is a firmware bug or a CPU bug. It has been fine for 2 months! I have not changed a single thing other than replacing a thermistor.
did you ever figure this out? mine is doing the exact same thing. using LV8729 drivers. on all microstep modes.

I just bought it but I have problems when putting the firmware could you tell me how you did it is for an ender3
