This is bit misleading. Using firebase only for small applications is not right. Its free tier with some limitations is good for students etc but there is enterprise flavour as well and used by some of the large companies for high volume transactions. Another thing the busiess logic can be written in backend that can scale on-demand on both aws and gcp. Firebase just need to invoke those apis.
