About Jitu de Escarandi from Arenas de Cabrales:
The ride to Jitu de Escarandi is an absolute must if you want to try some of the best Spain has to offer. Most of the ride is done in gorges or on the side of steep mountains. This makes this ride unique and extremely beautiful. It has several very steep sections. At the Vuelta in 2015, even pro riders such as Nairo Quintana had a hard time and slowed down to a pace near walking speed. This ride is not a walk in the park. It starts outside Arenas de Cabrales. From here you have a short steep section which takes you up to the first gorge. The scenery here is stunning and the riding here is great as a warm-up for the upcoming steeper sections. Once you get to Poncebos the steepness sets in. Having ridden through several tunnels you get to the middle part of the ride which has a humane slope. This is your chance to recover before the next segment which takes you up to the picturesque town of Sotres. This segment has some quite steep sections. The last part is of the ride takes you up to the green mountain meadows. The hardest part is over and you can enjoy the scenery. But watch out for the cows…

    Adding music to the ride:
Most cyclists would agree that the ride to Col du Tourmalet is awesome. But when it comes to music opinions are very mixed. This is why we do not add music to our rides. We simply do not want to spoil your ride with music you do not like. But it is quite simple to add it yourself. Open an extra browser tab. Find a site that offers music (Spotify, RUclips, etc…) and pick the music you like and enjoy the ride...

I absolutely loved that! Thank you very much. I’m sure I shall watch it again, especially in the winter when I need some sunshine and greenery. I can see why they call the area “Green Spain”. I want to live there! Thanks.

If you are sucker for beautiful landscape scenery , this ride is for you !
This climb trough the canyon landscape it’s very high on my list the most beautiful I have ever done and it’s on my list places to visit one day.
This very picturesque canyon starts narrow with high looming peaks with green vegetation growing everywhere.
Accept for human made paved road , you see God creation and beautifully nature untouched by human.
Very remote and fallows beautiful mountain stream , after you live the looks like hiking Mecca section in lower slopes , you start beautifully climb and about half way up 6 miles or so you gat bit rest with slope down to 4% after that you start series of steep sections from 9-16% it’s not walk in the park but again the amazing scenery makes up for suffering.
I could ride this climb again and again , near the top you take ride narrow alpine route after passing last mountain village and you climbing looks like totally different landscape with sheep and cows on the road , very top is quite open and exposed.
Awesome video and work guys , you did it again !!! Big thanks for the hard work on this one !
Hope to see one one day from the other side.
