- Coconut stretching her legs to an audience! **Please watch in HD & Full screen, it is beautiful!** The herd out back and daddy up front are all watching. This is Coconut's first day outside - she is 2 days old in this video. Coconut's color pattern is called tovero, with a medicine cap. Coconut is also known as a WAR HORSE which these markings are extremely rare. Only the Chief or the Medicine Man rode this rare horse. They must have a shield on their chest and markings on their flanks which are also called shields. and they can only have 1 blue eye with liner around the eye. This eye in Indian Mythology is called a Sky Eye. If the Chief or Medicine Man dies in battle then this one blue sky eye will carry their spirits to their Gods. So that is why she is soooo special :)

What a beautiful foal and she is such a good Mommy, the way she runs interference for the foal when it runs toward the fence. The foals markings are so pretty with her brown ears and spots.

I am mesmerized by Coconut and the love her owner shows her. Always wanted to live around horses and feel that I would give that same love. Okay, I've been on here too long must go cut the grass before it gets too hot. By the way, this is the 2nd time watching this vid and if I don't stop now, I will watch all that follow again without moving from this chair. I haven't had breakfast and it is lunch time here. Bye

I know this video is an older post, and I am amazed I didn't find it sooner, but just to prove that all things happen for a reason, I was searching for a video to lift my heart a bit, having lost my very special cat just a few hours ago, and coconut was just the right thing I needed. Poka seems like such a good mom! she's following her so closely and telling her she's wrong but of course kids don't care lol!!! I'm glad to see that you weren't harassing the baby like most people do or trying to take that away from mom!!!

Abigail Graham That baby should be following the mother, not the other way around. It's perfectly normal to birth outside, horses have been doing it that way for centuries. I think the mother is trying to correct the baby and get the baby to follow her (mom) because mom is the protector. Baby needs to take it's cues from mom. did you interfere with their bonding after birth by separating them or "imprinting" on a stupid human?

She is sooo cute and my goodness I LOVE how great of a mother Pocca (spell check) is!! Some mommies let their babies wonder off and buck around alone and without guidance or perhaps just a perked ear at them. Nope this momma is making sure her baby is doing good. Love it!

OMG......Coconut. WHAT A CUTE NAME AND FOAL. Very sweet. Mom's nervous but once the other horses check the baby out, they'll all go back to their grazing. They all just want to know "HEY, where did you get the white thing". LOL GREAT video. SO sweet. The paddock looks safe their in so I'm not as worried about the others being right there. Sweet baby. LOL Has a little coconut hat on his head. LOL

Arguably the most incredible and influential animal to humankind on this little old blue marble...a horse is 2 days old and not only standing but trotting around as easy as simply breathing.

What you’re seeing here is Coconut’s (love that name) first day of school. One of the first things she has to learn is to stay with mom at her shoulder. This is a safety thing, in the wild Coco must keep up with mom while running with and amongst the rest of the herd. She also has to learn to pay attention when mom is talking to her. When we work with our young horses it’s easy to teach them to walk at our shoulder when leading them because they’ve already learned this with mom.
