Yet she “did it” with her abusive husband Jack Gordon who beat her black and blue. She stayed with him despite not having any children to tie her down and she is judging her mother while she herself is in a much worse situation. It’s easy to judge others but she couldn’t leave Gordon for years.. he literally exploited her. It’s one DV victim judging another.
If my memory is correct, she was the first one to be disfellowshipped from Jehovah’s Witness because she spoke out against the abuse. I absolutely adore her. The fact that she is till alive is nothing short of a miracle. I’m glad she’s still with us, that her personality hasn’t changed

I’m todays world, Darcus Howe would be destroyed in the media for treating an obviously abused woman like a liar, and rightfully so. 30 years later so much has come out about the Jackson family that pretty much shows Latoya was telling the truth about her parents.

I feel bad that when she tried to tell the truth she was treated like a quack and mocked. She ended up taking it back saying Jack Gordon scripted it for her which I don’t believe. Her story remained consistent throughout all these interviews and you can tell she is sincere when she speaks.

The biggest credibility to leaving neverland is her 94 interview confirming Jimmy Safechuck getting cheques. Had her manager and husband of convenience Jack Gordon not been so brutal with her, I believe she wasn’t going to go against everything she said.

She also talked about her dilemma to Howard Stern privayely before the allegations broke out. Unlike the rest of the family she probably has least guilty conscience since she spoke out. Truly the hero of her family. Don't you find it weird it took her 10 years after 1993 to recant on Larry King Live in 2003? @@tias.6675 I don't know Katherine personally but I know how dysfunctional families operate coming from one myself. Over time, everything Latoya said in the 90s turned out to be true. Even back then, she had witnesses back up her claims like on the Jane Whitney show for example. She sadly received very little support from the public. It makes sense though. It was La Toya vs the Jackson family a.k.a. American music royalty.
No one wanted the beautiful illusion of the carefully curated family image to be shattered. Myself included when I was younger. We want to have someone successful to look up to and believe in...
It's sad but the mega fame and mega talent of MJ blinds people from looking at the full picture. If they took their rose-colored glasses off, his behavior and M.O. were quite alarming. But because fans are so fanatical they choose to make excuses for him instead of critically examining the situation for what it is. I hope the victims heal and I hope MJ himself healed before his passing in 09. It's tragic all around.
@@tias.6675 I have to agree with you there, All I have to say is that I'm glad that whatever happened between the Jackson family, is that they were able to reconcile before losing another family member. I love Latoya / MJ/ Jermaine / Rebbie ( The entire family honestly ) & no one can really say what happened behind closed doors.
One thing I can say is that Latoya didn't have much of backbone, same thing with some of the other siblings ( In which you can't put a time frame on growth / strength )
Do you remember on The Jackson Family - American Dream. When Katherine first met Joe and they were dancing at a restaurant. Joe asked her something about her parents and Katherine said something to the effect of " My parents got divorced, and when I get married I'm not getting divorce " That was the mindset of alot of people back then.
Honestly IMO I don't believe the sexual abuse about Joe, or the severity of it. I'd rather hope that Latoya was just lying ( Jack ) instead of it actually happening & if it did happen then it was wrong for Latoya to talk about Rebbie being " Raped " ( If that's true, in which I HOPE it's NOT. Then Latoya should've let Rebbie tell her story with being raped )
Now back to the whole " Backbone " thing. You know when parents are in a messy relationship knowing they don't need to be together but they want to say " For The Kids " don't realize how it's sending out the wrong message to their kids on what a good relationship should be about.

After Latoya left Jack for good, you can tell who was really the mastermind of it all ( Jack ), He kept talking to the press about Michael doing satanic rituals with Bubbles and other animals.
I always say could you imagine if Latoya committed suicide while she was with Jack. Good lord he would have a FIELD DAY saying it was Joe / Janet / Michael / Katherine that killed her and he tried to save her. I can totally picture him saying that.
Sorry for the long response, but I think this is one of the reasons why I could never be famous because sometimes things can be looked too deep into things. I just hope whoever is going through a similar situation as Latoya, or Katherine to learn from others experiences and make better decisions when possible.
( I had to add, you know after looking at these videos of Latoya, I swear if I closed my eyes and listen. If you asked me which family really went through this type of abuse between the Jackson's / Debarges. I would say Debarge so damn fast. I done TONS of research and he seems innocent and not only, his “accusers” have been proven to be liars and gold diggers. You must haven’t done research maybe? The only one who abused her was her ex husband psycho Jack Gordon. This book is trash and she was forced to say all this. Joseph never sexually abused her or Rebbie or anyone else. Exactly. People always talk about Joe, which he was indeed a total POS, but they give waaay to much credit to Katherine as the good mother that she clearly wasn't. In fact when Michael stated multiple times that he'd get beaten up so horribly in front of Katherine, not even once I heard Michael say she ever did anything to stop it other than maybe say, "Joe, you're going to kill the boy." So, I do believe LaToya when she said her father sexually abused her and Robbie, sometimes in front of their mother Katherine, and she would just let it happen.
I can also believe Katherine was very manipulative, it's known she'd guilt trip Michael into participating in shows or tours with his brothers or make him pay for things for them despite him not wanting to, so this isn't just something LaToya had to deal with, but probably all of them kids in their own way. Michael just happened to be become the golden child after he got so big.
She disgusts me as a mother and as a person. Any woman who allows her babies to be abused over and over for years in multiple ways, while not only doing nothing to stop it but also manipulating them for her own gain and benefit, and to traumatize them even further, does not deserve to be called a decent mother. I appreciate Latoya's truth. I didn't believe her then but it's obvious to me that she's speaking honestly and I don't believe she recanted she just said her exhusband forced her to say these things and that she supported her brother but she didn't say what she said was not true. I think she just wanted to say that since she wasn't "in the room" she can't say what was going on and so she didn't recant she just changed her position because that was her brother.
When folks blame those from abuse of any sort are sometimes abuser's themselves.
No normal child (Michael did it also and told similar things) calls his father by his firstname. To me besides other things she tells, a clear indication of distance and that she tells the truth. Now THIS is the real La Toya with the mask off. She is financially independent (though Jack was basically taking all of her money, but she was indpeendent from her family) from her family and is free to speak the truth. This is the La Toya that because of whome she is beholden to, she cannnot show anymore. La Toya does not feel free enough to aggressively defend herself as much anymore.

I agree and believe what she said about her father, Joseph. But, I certainly don’t agree it’s what she said about Michael. I know she was forced to by her husband, Gordon, who is digusting. I know Toya knew that Michael was innocent but was unfortunately abused and forced to say otherwise. I knew that was not how La Toya truly felt. If I was called onto a show with a name like that to air out my family's dirty laundry, I would strongly inconsider it to say the least.
Well everyone was calling her a liar, this show is essentially having her claims challenged through a game of devil's advocate, where you tell your story/opinion to someone (the "devil") and they approach everything with skepticism and scrutinise every detail to see how airtight your arguments are. It's a game my high school teachers used to play in English class to help us form persuasive arguments. In this context it seems she's trying to show that her truth would not falter under heavy scrutiny, and I think she succeeded.

Everyone calm the hell down about the interviewer. The show is called "The Devils Advocate" the entire point is that he debates people and takes the other side. Like a cross examination in court.

I see some of myself in her, Michael etc. It's not for me to, but I believe her very much so. I just find it strange they let the story out into public conciousness? Usually it's highly censored. Also the lack of follow up? It's like the allegations never happened.
Personally I've had some abuse in past, people often comment on my delicate voice etc. I have a sweet nature etc. Also had some work done. Have a complex I'm eternally 14. Not that that's all necessarily 100% related to that. Just I feel a kindred spirit in ways; although her s3xual abuse sounds alot worse.
Something always seems off about her in these interviews. When someone asked her something unexpected she doesn't know what to say. She's a decent actress is what she is. She's as two faces as what she says Katherine is.
