I've owned all three over the years and can honestly say that DHI has garnered more compliments from men and women than the other two combined, it is a long standing great and I was so relieved to find it smelled the same when I tried it this last week. It's certainly not a 'hit you in the face' fragrance, more of a fragrance that is found on you rather than emitted from you, which I personally think is the best way to wear fragrance. I personally have never been keen on DHP, I liked the old DH but the new one is horrendous. Thankfully the new DHI is still fantastic.
I also thought it’s similar to the older one but watching your review puts my mind more at ease. Plus with all the background and insights that you provide on the older batch, i truly learned something of value. Thanks Steven.
I'm sure this will put a lot of people's minds at ease! Believe it or not, I haven't smelled ANY of the Dior Homme line before, so I'd be interested to get my nose on it! Great vid as always Steven!
Just bought it today. Compared to my 2019 bottle this is definitely closer to the original formula with stronger iris note, which is great (also makes it more unisex). The 2019 version smells significantly woodier, more masculine. Both versions are great and I´m very happy to have them. 2020 Intense formulation is a very pleasant surprise that here Dior went back to the roots.
@@blackknightdl I have to edit my first feelings about 2020. I did recently a direct comparison. The smell is probably identical to 2019 (great). But the performance of 2020 is massively better than 2019. Not a huge screamer, but lasts much longer. On skin I could smell it even after 24hrs (not the case of 2019 which was totally faint after 8-9 hrs). So you´ll be definitely much happier with 2020 version. I initially thought it has stronger iris note probably because I didn´t wear Homme Intense for couple of months so my nose was more sensitive to it. But actually the scent is the same as 2019, just with better performance. What a great release!
Ironically, Dior HI was my first ever blind buy in 2016. I mean, I bought one of the greatest men's fragrance intuitively, not knowing about it. I even remember firs seconds of spraying, I was like: well, not my taste, would suit for an older man, but seems to be high quality". All I can say after 5 years is, it definitely is in my tase
Steve - In case you didn't know, the formula codes for all Dior fragrances are listed on the box, on the last line of the ingredients. These are the formula codes and reformulations of Dior Homme Intense: original (2007-2010): formula 03214/A 2011-2014: formula 05443/A 2015-2016 formula 08666/A 2017-???? formula 10950/A
I never tried dior intense. I appreciate your detailed reviews of fragrances. Soothing voice and the most handsome of all fragrance reviewers on RUclips
@Juniorverse Which one are you talking about? Dior Homme has changed but the formula for Dior Homme Intense hasn't changed. It's the same as the bottle from 2017.
"Watering down" fragrances is for the most part a myth. In most cases, raw ingredients of a fragrance is one of the least expensive aspects. Companies periodically reformulate fragrances for 2 main reasons, legal regulations and to boost sales. It may sound like a foreign concept, but most people purchasing department store level fragrances are not hobbyist, they're often looking for something of lighter potency that has a pleasing scent within the first few seconds of being applied to blotting paper, they're not researching the potency, longevity, how the fragrance develops over time, and how differently the fragrance smells in the sillage vs up close. Most reformulations are targeted to boost revenue by increasing sales to that group of people, not increase revenue by cutting a few cents off production cost.
Actually nope. This 2020 formulation smells better (or closer to the orig.) than the previous one (my 2019 bottle) and also has better projection and slightly better longevity, too. Definitely an unexpected improvement. EDIT: I did direct comparison. The smell is probably identical (great). But the performance of 2020 is massively better than 2019. On skin I could smell it even after 24hrs (not the case of 2019 which was totally faint after 8-9 hrs).
I'm glad they haven't changed it too much. Sometimes flankers go a bit overboard. I'd love to try this new one out. Thanks for the great review as always Steven. We appreciate your time and effort making it for us. Take care.
I’m glad they retained the iris in the new version. I’ve never smelled the original formulation of DHI so I’m very excited to experience this babe 😎. Thanks for this review Steven !
I had a bottle of Dior Homme Intense that started to get old, and I don't know if it's because of hot weather, but this last year I had the feeling it turned weird. It lost this iris/leathery feeling, and I could smell a much more spicy side (almost like star anise... yes, star anise!), and I really didn't like it as much as before. It wasn't as sensual as it used to be. So I bought a new bottle in December of 2019 in France, I got this new packaging with the bee. And I was glad to smell again the old Dior Homme Intense smell I liked so much. For me, it almost didn't change at all, and for sure smells better than my old (denatured ?) bottle. But I'll keep the old one just to compare it again in the future.
Olivier polge created the original dior homme 2005 and then he moved to vanlentino and the created the valentino uomo and after that valentino uomo intense at that time François tweested the original and created the dior homme intense and dior homme parfum
I have been wearing Valentino Uomo and Uomo intense for some time, I think it is time for me get my nose on Dior Homme fragrances. from your description of Dior Homme 2020 Intense, I'm about 75-80% sure I will like. I tried the 2020 version and found it to be very pleasant, my wife loved it. I also want to congratulate you on your fragrance line. blessing to you brother, see you in the next video.
Ok so I received Dior Homme Intense today. I went ahead and purchased the 5 oz bottle because of all the hype. Ive been wearing it for the last 4 hours and here is what i think. Its smells good. It doesn't smell bad. Its definitely not the king of designer fragrances. Its way over-hyped. Its way over priced. The scent smells like something you woud bake in the oven. Prada L'homme Iris is much better and Armani code parfum iris is also much better as far as iris fragrances go. Its definitely unique. Its not sexy for a man or a woman. Its definitely interesting. It smells like something you would eat or drink. Thats my thoughts. Thanks.
Hi Steven, I wore DHI for the first time in a while this weekend and I really enjoyed wearing it...to me it's a masterpiece and I hope it stays around for along time...so I'm glad to learn the 'new 2020' smells similar...after all my DHI is a 2019 bottle and is still a monster for projection and longevity... Thanks for sharing your opinion on this, atb Lee
See, it was a very smart move from Dior to make new DH. So, just because the new DHI is pretty similar to the original, it makes people happy! Nothing new, just the same. What a relief!:) Funny. Thanks for the review, as always very descriptive.
Good review Stephen. Def would like to try this. Only experience I’ve had with any Dior Homme Intense is a decant I had some years ago. Should have pulled the trigger on a bottle then but interested in this iteration.
2007. DHI was made by Francois Demachy, Olivier Polge did just the original Dior Homme from 2005. The ''new'' 2020. DHI is the same 2011. version repacked with redesigned bottle. They also did repackaking and bottle redesign of Dior Homme Sport 2012. and DH Cologne 2013.
I received the new dior homme intense 3 months ago , I didnt open it yet cause I thought it has been reformulated ; and I managed to sell it happy you still enjoy the new batches
Steven, great review of Dior Homme Intense 2020. I am glad that haven't deviated too much from the original formula of Dior Homme Intense. Thank you for the honest review and giveaway.
Hi, You video was very informative as I have never had the privilege of owning this brand before. I hope your perfume has the same market as Dior does. Your review is quite heartfelt and honest.
Thank you for the great review including the side by side comparison with the previous batch. That’s a relief for me to know they haven’t brought a big change in this reformulation. I recently smelled YSL la nuit de l’homme edp which has also Iris and other notes similar to that listed for Dior Homme Intense but it seems not to get that much attention from the fragrance community.
Thanks for another great review Steven. Please can you comment on the Formulation reference number given at the end of the ingredients list on the box. Is it the same as the previous reference (circa 2017-2019) or an entirely new formulation code. Many thanks as always!!
Awesome review. I made up my mind on Dior Homme 2020 thanks to this review! I get a bit of a Bleu de Channel EDT vibe on the opening. Very fresh, very intimidating.
Will you do the Dior Homme Parfum 100ml 2020 review? since that one will come in different bottle as well..... 100ml instead of 75ml.... Probs has reformulations as well....
Each his own taste but the pre 2020 version is much better i don't understand why they changed it,they took out the elements that make Dior Homme Intense special.
Has there been a mix up here? It seems people here have the new dior Homme fragrance mixed up with dior Homme original. Am I right? I'm pretty sure Dior came out with a standalone male fragrance that is NEW. And people are mixing the new with the original. Unless the original dior Homme is totally different now but I find this hard to believe...
Thx for the review @Redolessence! :) People on the interweb say, the "Formula code" (not batch code) under the list of ingredients is the same as DHI 2011, so it must be the exact same composition / smell. Would you rather agree on this, and tend to say it is maybe only the aging of your old version, or is the DHI 2020 different hence the fact it has the same forumula code? Best regards! :)
I'm happy they didn't change the formulation as in the not intense 2020 version. But people say that this new intense version lacks in projection, though. Do you think it is true? Thanks!
It's always helpful to have more information and perspectives on anything, so this is great to have your thoughts. I found it pleasant but passable, I also didn't care too much for the original either.
This scent sounds great. I basically just started a collection. Grabbed a YSL Nuit and a Mont Blanc explorer. Didn't want to pay full price for the creed, so I gave the MB a try. I'd like to add a few more bottles to the collection, What suggestions do you have to round it out? Ty and keep up the great videos.
Nice pick ups! There are so many options out there. I would try fragrances like Tres Nuit, Mont Blanc Individuel, and some of the A*Men flankers for diversity.
I like DHI very much but it has had a few reformulations unfortunately. It always affected it's longevity. I would love to try 2020 version to see if this is still an ongoing trend.
Thank you for sharing your initial review. I look forward to your followups. I conducted a simple blind test on skin (a friend sprayed on me with my eyes closed) between DHI 2020 and 2015, all new bottles. I think they are very similar from the beginning. The dry-down just a little bit different, the 2020 is rounder, while the 2005 is spicier... perhaps a tad more lavender. I think the sillage is about the same. However, with the spicy lavender, 2005 maybe a bit more detectable... maybe. I think your review is most fair among other reviewers, as I also don't think 2020 is "watered down". It is as good as the pre-2020.

Oh, cool! That's good to know!
Are you talking about the new Dior Homme or Dior Homme Intense you picked up at Macy's? I'm wondering if they have the new DHI at Macy's.
Which town? Are you talking about DHI or the DH 2020?
I doubt they have the intense at Macy's I the USA.
Just my opinion, but the bottle looked way more elegant without the text on the cap. The branding on the cap just makes the bottle look cheap.
it’s all about the scent at the end of the day

I like DHI very much but it has had a few reformulations unfortunately. It always affected it's longevity. I would love to try 2020 version to see if this is still an ongoing trend.
Thank you for watching!
Hi .. I’m confused between this perfume and the one from D&C . What do you think?
I personally like both, but I prefer this one over The One
Redolessence just bought DHI .. Luxury

I’m really happy they didn’t messed up with the intense version. Great job, thanks for the review 👍🏻
My pleasure!
Is it me, or does the dry down smell like chocolate? Such a unique frag
Comprei o meu Dior Homme Intense 2020. Queria muito o Dior Homme Parfum mas aqui no Brasil não tem!
Thanks for your review and I would love to smell the new 2020 version of one of my favourite scents so thanks for the giveaway also :), cheers.
So basically if you can't get the original DHI the 2020 one is still a keeper because it's the original but slightly different
Thanks for watching! I appreciate your assessment!
Awesome review, one of my favorite Dior fragrances.
Thank you, Bobby!
