  • This vlog is a double whammy with Jancis and Nova finally going eventing after a slow start and Lucy doing the 100 with Insey.
Join us as we walk the course the day before and with the serious amounts of rain, don't expect it to run..... luckily we were wrong!
The conditions are tricky and Jancis navigates 3 phases successfully, while Lucy only manages 2 phases.

This was awesome, always love your videos! Great decision not to do the cross country, so glad she's feeling so much better in the other phases :) Well done to Jancis for getting round such a crazy wet course!

There was an amazing amount of water on the cross country course when you walked it.

It did drain on the whole but Jancis definitely got the best of the ground as sadly we had more driving rain between my dressage and Sjing for half an hour.

Brilliant video, both horses look Very well and beautifully turned out. Obvious you put your horses first which is lovely to see. The music was hurting my ears though!

Ummm I might check it and if terrible will redo the video. I think it probably needs to be 5% in background and I have overdone it as sounds fine on a laptop

I do love Insey. She is such a beautiful looking horse with lovely paces. She looked amazing in the warm up, as did you Lucy. You do have a great seat, a lovely “still” lower leg and quiet hands which I truly appreciate
So the ground in the dressage was just pants wasn’t it. You could see Insey trying desperately hard to hold her feet and she was completely central in her weight so just goes to show how deep and slippery it actually was. I thought it was a good score (everything considered) and to be fair to you both the actual performance level dropped after the little faux pas, naturally concentration and flow had been interrupted for both of you. But just look what it could have been if all the stars had aligned for you 😃.
The show jumping was interesting, she only really started to fling her head about and “rush” after the pole down but she made nothing of the height at all.
An intelligent decision regarding the xcountry. The course was well below her skill set and why on earth risk an injury plugging round a sodden course. Just nothing to be gained but an awful lot to lose.
So the future looks amazing Lucy and I just cannot wait to see your season progress. Thank you so much for your vlog. I love your down to earth and honest insight. Go girl and good luck.

Thanks so much for your considered reply. Everything is always a work in progress and I do really believe in this horse even if sometimes the results haven’t quite matched up. Especially pleased Nova has made it out as his self harming has kept him from starting much over the last few years and hard to be consistent when they are constantly recovering from self inflicted injuries.

Oh I didn’t realise Nova had an issue. Was that the chap with the head injury?
He did seem somewhat “uphill” in his work but I don’t know him so felt unfair in commenting negatively. But he completed and so there is much to like and move forward with 👏👏👏.
I do wish animals could talk and tell us what is upsetting them rather than the guessing game we have to work through. I have sane issues with my dogs now 🙄

No diss but horse looks overweight.

He is a chunky little thing who has an XXW saddle as has no wither. He is fit but can live off fresh air. He will look slimmer next time out.
