I'm a non student never took studied chemistry etc...but find all the lecture series extremely helpful even the EM sections. This particular lecture is accessible to anyone interested for the most part...some basic understanding of chemistry concepts are required...very concise lecture series truly gems among other utube lectures by other academics. All future technologies will depend on solid state theory and chemistry. The issue with traditional classroom lectures is the camera tends to zoom out from the blackboard or the instructors erases something. This format is better for the topics covered -
