"We are just stood here waiting for the next great wound..." "And we just can't wait to make more mistakes and we just can't wait till the whole thing blows up in our face..." Good and painful phrases at the same time.
I'm embarrassed to say I've just heard it . I was playing Southpaw Grammer (2009 expanded) full album and this came on at the end. After all these decades of Morrissey listening, this escaped me. But this song..It just drew me. It's been on repeat all day, I have been playing along on guitar all day (tip of the hat to Alan Whyte). This melody has simply gripped me and won't let go.
Yeah, just so hidden. But it's deeply embeded in me. Talk about hidden songs. Like that other B side from years past, How Soon Is Now. But that one does have the exposure it needed after all this time.

Saw this live in 1997 in Toronto. In late 1995, this was a bside for DD from SG, used to listen to it on the greyound from Montreal to Toronto oh so many times until my Duracell's said goodnight. All in all, imagine this....
One of the greatest lyrics/songs he's ever written and all his songs are above brilliant of course. The "cool sycophants " have dropped off him of course proving they never really understood him or his life's work. They just ebb and sway on with the next cool thing. Good riddance to those wanna be, try hard never wasis' I will be here.
Nobody, at the table I AM at anyway, believes that you are God...but I know which WHO You are and, since they do not know Who You are, I get You All'ah, ALL TO MINE OWN SELF (atleast, when you decide to show yourself to Me for another Gain In My Life)!!!
He's saying that Morrissey would have received a better response as a solo artist if he wasn't in the Smiths beforehand as it has overshadowed his later (current) greatness.
I would love for this, and Blue dreamer's eyes (another incredible "b-side") to be put onto one of his new albums, they deserve it. MAKE US OUR FAVOURITE JAM NOBODY LOVES US
Different chord sequence, one song is major key, one is minor, one is upbeat, one is contemplative, different melodies, different themes. What on earth convinced you that this song is a rework, when it clearly is not?
This is a masterpiece. The best song about the working classes I’ve ever heard. Lyrics are genius.
I’ve always interpreted the lyrics as being about children and the misunderstanding from adults… I may be wrong then 🙁
It's pure poetry

@@xanpo.calataEither Moz or the record label took it off the album when it was re-released, so it's not on Spotify's version. 😢

If anyone needs to understand just how good Morrissey is - this was a B-side. It's insane.
B-side to Dagenham Dave. I had listened it alot when the single came out.
52 and I'm still a fan, Moz.
I'm in your club, if you'll have me.
55 and been a Moz fan since 1984.
Ditto mate, only just 52. He's as relevant, if not more, today than he ever was.
61, here..

Moz has always brought me to tears.
Same here...!!!

Nobody outside the mozza community knows this Masterpiece 😌😌😌
Hard to choose… but could be the best Moz’s song … just sublime , can’t describe how it moves me …
Hug us hard Moz, hug us hard. Wonderful.
possibly his finest song. I wish he would play this live.

Damn fine song
I used to sing this song with Ary and Syauqi. I really miss the old days when we were young and naturally evil.
