In the late 80's i was there. I remember walking on the starboard wing and walking thru the cabin talking about all the bullet holes. It must have been low tide because half of the plane was above water. Stumbled across this video, sure does bring back good memories.
Locals love the "drug plane" story. And was used by Escobar. However, it is well documented, at the time, the plane was inbound with a load of cut grass sod for the houses yard, and ran out of fuel just short. Hate to burst all the great coke and pot stories. But, it's not what really happened with this plane.. FAA and many other sites document this wreck correctly. But keep telling your great stories for tourist bucks.

Google Andrew Barnes. He's the pilot that crashed it. Interesting book he wrote about that experience and other smuggling escapades.
