I think it's his self centredness that makes him so funny - he probably saw 9/11, which delayed the Ryder Cup for a year, as no more than the annoying cause of delay in his career. His comparison between golf and tennis with regard to disability is bonkers as well.
The upper class in Scotland usually go down to England to be educated at the public (private) school which gives them a posh English sounding accent with a Scottish twang.
