I have no idea what that means or who signed this supposed contract if its not with the venue itself. So hopefully there will be at least one more. They are my two favorite artists and I live 30 minutes from the coliseum, so it's going to be a sad day for me when they stop doing it.
+Drew Labell yeah I hope Lorin and Derek decide to do it again at the Mothership this year IF Derek even decides to do it. Apparently the Bassnectar team had to convince PL last year to play Basslights because PL didn't wanna do it. The 5 year contract is up too which worries me. The reason Bassnectar and Pretty Lights chose the Mothership to have Basslights at is because the Mothership/Hampton Coliseum was historically a well known Jam band venue and that is significant to Bassnectar and PL some how so they decide on having it there. BL wouldn't be the same if it wasn't at Hampton. I'm only 3 hours from the mothership so it would suck if they moved it somewhere far away like California.
if it's a 5 year thing and basslights started in 2012 it shouldn't have expired yet right? also, they sell this thing out easily, bassnectar says it's his favorite indoor venue (or "one of my favorite rooms in the country"). I'm not sure why Derek would need convincing to do this. that sounds like a reddit rumor to me, but that's just how i see it
Stuart Matthews its all bullshit dude hahaha I've found that about 75% of the shit people say in this scene ends up being completely wrong (95% if its through reddit or fb). I heard for 3 years straight from everyone I talked to that it was a 3 year contract, then people started saying 5 years. Then nectar publicly announced that it was over after this last basslights, which was only the 4th (99% sure about that)... No one ever said anything about 4 years haha every single person I spoke to about it was wrong.
Drew Labell I read it once through the nearby club in Hampton from someone who did promotions for the people who host the 'official' after party, which I thought was a solid source. I just can't remember the number of years they said it was going to be o:) Is there a blog entry where nectar said it wouldn't be happening again this year?
