Wouldn't it be much easier to open it and simply desolder and swap the EEPROM from old ECU to the new one? Just asking ? I have to do it on my 1.9cdti, and I'm curious if, indeed, it's possible. I would highly appreciate it if you could answer back to me. Thank you.
Tt depends what do you need. In this case I was just showing, how to read flash (maps). For the EEPROM you can do by solder job or have another programmer which can read/write EEPROM.
I bought Kess (replica) for 1.9 CDTI and got into this problem... I was thinking about upgrading to EDC1639C, but nobody could tell me if it's compatible to the car (it's a 2005 Vectra C), and what it needs to configure it (is it OP-COM and PIN code enough?). I would like to try a stage 1 and dpf off on a spare ECU, to keep the original safe.
I wouldnt do that upgrade of ECU if strictly not needed. You would also need to read EEPROM and write it to “new” ECU. There are possibly some differences in those ECUs, so I can’t really tell.
How do I know if my MPPS will correct checksum? I have V16 clone. It can read ok. Do you know any free or cheap software which can correct checksums on EDC16U1?
Hi thanks for your video. I wanted to ask you what are the PIN OUT of the MPPS V18 and if you can tell me how do you turn the control unit off and on again? Did you make a specific button besides power? Can you give me more information. Your video is very useful but I'm afraid of doing damage.
Hi, if you mean pinout of MPPS bench cable - you can find on google. I reworked mine cable to be able to switch off the power of "+" wires so I can simulate "ignition on/off" (some ECUs has this cable on the pinout/connector.

its always good to go for original products for peace of mind, safety and reliability.
I agree but even with original tools you can get into problems. But with original tools you have always support that can help you in these cases.

MPPS software has message if it corrects checksum or not for each ECU. For some ECUs you can even correct checksum without writing file to ECU.

The EDC16C9 control panel is the same as the EDC16C39. Would they be completely the same, but with the software of another vehicle?
