"You have dishonored the franchise and so you have dishonored me. The time has come to reclaim my honor you dishonorably dishonored with my honorably honor of my honorable honor!!" Dante Basco-2014.
Tobito TV Yeah! It’s super wacky how the show works. I never got to see it air on tv. I was too young at the time to appreciate the show. I have a really weird perspective on the series because of that. I never felt the time build up, theorizing the ending, etc. I watched bits and pieces before I sat through the whole thing. Like, I watched parts of the final battle before I watched the first episode. So I’ve got a really weird view on some of the episodes here. I don’t care that much for Day of Black Sun. But I love bits of The Headband and The Mad King. I love every moment of Tai Lee in the show. I also have the perspective my sister loves most: the fighting. It’s super accurate, and each nation does a different form of karate.
Everybody is freaking out about how Dante Basco is the actor of Zuko, but how many people noted that fire bending for dummies is written by Sifu Kisu, who responsible for the martial arts in the show. That's how far they went for this episode
Leaves from the vine Falling so slow Like fragile tiny shells Drifting in the foam Little soldier boy Come marching home (cries) Brave soldier boy Comes marching home
All the sadder, because that song of loss and mortality.... Was the very last line Mako recorded for Iroh before his death. He supposedly recorded it from his hospital bed... His very last performance.
I met Dante Basco at a convention a few years ago, and he’s just a really cool guy. Super down to earth. If you’re reading this, Dante Basco, please go back to sac anime.
I met him at a con, too! It took about an hour and a half because so many people wanted to meet him but he also took time to make sure EVERYBODY got to say hi. Seriously such a cool guy
*Brendan Haran* That was a pretty epic moment, especially when they show his fathers (the fire kings) expression. Mix of, "oh crap", "no way he just did that?!", and/or, "I'm about to die", wrapped into one face.
Chokovok My favorites are the tale of Iroh, because of obvious reasons, Momo’s, because it shows that he and Appa aren’t just pets that get along, and Katara’s and Toph’s, because it makes their friendship evolve a little more.
My boy Zuko is the only other person who has had the most dates besides Sokka. He dated May, when him and his Uncle decided in the begginning of season 2 to go to the Earth Nation the nurse that took care of Iroh was on my Bois cock then he had date with that one chick from tales of Ba sing Se she was thick my dudes. Then May personality wise was the perfect fit for my boy Zuko. But Sokka got kissed a shit ton and every girl had a crush on him, but still my boi Zuko had game.
One thing I really appreciate about Avatar was the impressive fight choreography. Despite being an animated show, the movements of each fighter are really smooth and engaging. Also, the fights are used effectively, allowing the story to continue through the action.
Xeraphina Laurentia well, considering every animator was forced to learn the martial arts they were animating, skyrocketing my appreciation for the show. That's dedication right there.
i actually think they were able to make the fights look so good BECAUSE it was an animation. Animation, when used well, can do stuff that is impossible with live action.
They actually hired martial artists to help with the shows choreography and not only that but i love how each benders personally and techniques are shown in the action. In the episode "the chase" one of the most memorable moments for me was the 1v1v1 between azula, zuko and aang. One of the best moment's is when aang runs and azula after pushing zuko back persues him inside of a two story house that has no upper floor. Aang using an air scooter hovered in the air giving the illusion that there was a platfrom in the upper room, azula runs straight in and nearly falls off the edge of the entrance before recovering her balance while aang waves at her jokingly, then zuko also persuing aang runs straight in and falls highlighting his impatience and short sight he had at the time. Its moments like these that i love as it puts personality into the fights instead of just throwing fireballs everywhere
@@quplet Not really. Bryan was the one who actually was studying the martial arts. Bryan and Sifu Kisu ( the martial arts consultant/choreographer and Bryan's teacher) would come up with the choreography together and make film reference for the animators to use. The crew had taken some lessons to understand some of the basics of the movements, but the majority of that was done by those two. That's actually one of the things I dislike about Legend of Korra (apart from an occasional episode or two). The martial arts in LOK feel completely soulless and uninteresting, and it felt on par with the Shyamalan movie as far as the choreo goes.
I saw the movie on a plane. Had no idea the original show was actually good. I think I made it about 20 minutes before deciding it was awful, and that's what I thought about Avatar for years. It was just a bad movie, based on kids show, with "whiny" fans angry that their cartoon was disrespected. Now that I'm halfway through the series, I understand. That movie totally disrespected the cartoon, and I intend to whine about it!
I've givee myself headaches from inwardly bitching about the movie as recently as last night and I've never managed to watch any more than a few minutes of it. I've seen clips and that was more than enough to hate it. Let's hope netflix does a better job.
Troy Dube' To quote Palpatine.... “Good, GOOOOOOD. DEW IT. LET THE HATE AND RAGE FLOW THROUGH YOU. UNLEASH IT.” That’s pretty much what we fans did everytime we see the movie.
@@Lab_Member_X I am pissed to this day that Book 4 was cancelled because of the movie (I know it was made into a comic but I'm talking about the animation). Truly a tragedy.
I am stunned that “Tales of Ba Sing Se” was not included on this list. That episode did something I never thought a Nickelodeon cartoon could do....bring tears to my eyes. “Leaves From The Vine” every time.
@@dylanbeebehive2024 When I first watched that episode, I cried even though I didn't know what "in memory of mako" meant. Sure, the scene became even more emotional to me once I found out about that, but even without the "in menory of mako" the scene is plenty emotional
Wait, what movie adaptation? There was no movie made based off of Avatar. There _was_ that weird magic thing that Shyamalan cobbled together and just plastered the characters' names into. And he mispronounced half of them.
That's actually sad but true. I've seen Zuko cosplayers with better scar-makeup then the ones they had in the movie. And that's not a joke, i'm legit serious. Jesus christ, it's the little things like that in the movie that makes it so god dam annoying. Just a huge big pile of poorly deliverd, inaccurate exposition.
Flaming bastard Studios And when NC said and not in that way, you should guess who the female Ninja is voiced by. And said Ninja happens to be paired with the protagonist who is voiced by Dante Basco. You shippers can guess who the Ninja is voiced by.
I just found this out, but during "The Chase", when everyone blasts Azula with their bending all at once (7:55), you can see a few frames of Sokka's boomerang flying in and bouncing away too lol
Aang's decision in the end is actually brilliant, it doesn't necessarily teach a lesson but it calls back to something said early in the first season. Aang first sets on his mission to master the elements when he goes to Omashu and meets King Bumi. It's Bumi who tells Aang what the duty of the avatar is, he tells him that he must confront the firelord and he says "And when you do, I hope you think like a mad genius." That episode was all about coming up with creative solutions, and in the end when Aang faces Ozai he creates an entirely new option that wasn't even on the table, as they put it here. Certainly seems Aang was thinking like a mad genius. It might be stretch, but at least it makes sense
Good callback! Sometimes we fans tend to forget the details that came before - whether it be a previous scene in a movie OR an episode - because it is the buildup to the conclusion.
Avatar was a great show! And I almost never gave it a chance. I just wrote it off in my mind as stupid and avoided watching it. I came home from school one day and it was on and it was a marathon or something. I couldn't find the remote and was too lazy to turn the channel manually, go to a different room, or just get another remote from a different room. Best thing to come to my life from being lazy!
"You know I loved you in Slumdog Millionaire!" Wait. No. That wasn't you! I always confuse you with- ooh" Was that a reference to Dev Patel who played Zuko in The Last Airbender movie and a character in Slumdog Millionaire?
It was also a reference to the apparent fact that Basco requested the part of Zuko in the non-existent movie adaptation and was turned down for the part in lieu of Dev Patel
+Selo Bee Yeah. I recently heard that and boy am I glad he didn't get the part! Dante Basco deserves SO MUCH better than to star in that non-existent movie!
RGS TheBadGamer would be better if the original actors played the roles. With a little make up, they could look real. And better directing even better. They know the characters in and out after all.
It was so well done that not even her voice actress, Grey DeLisle, can bear to watch the scene because she delved into some very dark personal past to conjure up the emotions.
You have dishonored the series, so you have dishonored me. The time has come to reclaim my honor you've dishonorably disarmed me with my honorably honored honorable honor.
I love watching Zuko’s face when Katara’s blood bending and almost killing the soldier. That look just screams, “Damn, I switched sides at the right time!”
10:12 Imagine what it was like watching that the day it came out. You were actually expecting the invation to succeed because it had been building up from the very first episode. Even on the first season they kept stressing the importance of defeating the firelord before Sozin's comet or otherwise he would become unstoppable. So imagine what it was like watching what you initially tought would be the last episode in the series and seeing your heroes fail, and learning that they would now have to fight Ozai in the day of the comet where everything would be 10 times harder for them. My 11 yeard old self, who had religiously been watching each episode the day it came out for two years, did that. And it was absolutely amazing.
Especialy considering the show went on a hiatus after this episode. Even if you were browsing the tv guide, you'd have no way to know there would be more episodes to follow. Unless it was revelaed somewhere online, but idk if that actually happened.
wariolandgoldpiramid I dont think it was hiatus so much as pausing to make new episodes. Gravity Falls did the same thing in the middle of season two. It's a "mid season finale"
I still remember seeing the teaser trailer for book 3. Seeing aang with hair & katara saying "I will never EVER turn my back on people who need me!!!" I was in 7th grade, I remember like it was yesterday
I admit to missing what they were talking about with the cabbitches joke over and over again (first time I watched the NC's 11 best and worst was sometime last year), since I've been marathoning the three seasons over and over the past week, it finally "clicked" what it was about. I laughed, then felt retarded for taking so long, and then put it in my mental box next to the "clicked" Sparky-sparky-Boom-man reference from Fan Four stick.
I remember when I met dante basco I asked how it was being on nostalgia critic and he replied with eh then he said na im kidding doug walker great guy great family. That dudes a legend
a lot of series one likes as a child, one only likes because one is a child, and when, as an adult, you watch them again, it's just a cringe-fest, and at at that moment one understands that one only liked the series because one didn't care about the cringe and the nonsense, ATLA is not one of those series, the creators managed to create a magnificent, consistent and simply outstanding work that will never grow old, and that encompasses the full meaning of the expression "family-friendly", a lot of shows think that being family-friendly is just being something a child can watch, but this series nails it, because it's not only something a kid can watch, but it's also something a teenager and an adult can enjoy just as much, the series is well written, well animated and it's just strong in all fronts, I would say that calling the series a masterpiece of animation is and understatement.
i remember waiting for Season 3 to come out when i was a kid cause of how horrible the cliffhanger at the end of season 2 was. now i rewatch the show at least once every year and i cant believe how well it holds up.
Incendere I wholeheartedly agree with your comment. I didn't watch it until my second year of college (2010?) and I loved the hell out of it. Also, I find your user name highly entertaining.
It would be a good idea. They could animate all the comics as two-parter episodes and maybe space them out with short stories from The Lost Tales to kill time.
The problem with following up such a near perfect series like ATLAB is people have too many expectations. Korra tried to side step that by being different, having a more mature tone to grow with its fan base, and showing different parts of that world that TLAB. People need to stop comparing the two and look at each as its own entity. I think people directly compare the two too much and most people’s biggest reservation is the characters making up team avatar in Korra don’t hold up as well when comparing them to the team in the TLAB. Korra has more characters that have their own story arcs, so it doesn’t get as in depth with each character. I think that’s done because the series is told more through the eyes of Korra rather than 3-4 characters which when I think about it seems to standup with the characters being older. I don’t know about you but as most people get older it’s harder to stay as close and involved in your closest friends’ lives and you also broaden your circle of friends/aquatintences that you probably aren’t as close with as you were with your friends when you were younger. Basically I think the lest in depth and shorter story arcs with many of the characters in Korra is actually realistic and fits well with the older and more mature cast.
No the problem with korra is three major issues, 1st the villains, while Oozai May have Been the overarching villain, zuko and zhou served as great adversaries, one more sympathetic and the other much more ruthless, the inclusion of Azula in the second season as both extremely competent clever and ruthless making her a fan favorite , and then the third season made sure the oozai felt powerful and threatening throughout all over his screentime, in korra we have Amon, a full of shit liar who has no evidence from the world that his “position” has merit, ultimately he is just throwing a temper tantrum cause he hates his dad, season 2 starts strong with civil war that could have forced korra to really question how the world should proceed in a very princess mononoke style season, but drops it about halfway through by throwing in a bunch of nonsense and giving us avatar Godzilla battle, season 3 has korra go up against anarchist, you know that philosophy that always leads to fascist regimes seizing power, and season 4 is the fascist regime so we are right back to oozai but less developed. The next major flaw is in the characters, korra is an arrogan brat, but never gets called out or punished for the bad decisions she makes or the actions that hurt people, this bitch goes a date with a guy has a nice evening and then forces herself on his older brother, and no one ever calls her a massive cunt for doing this, bolin is a boring simp, who is just their to be comic relief with very little redeeming qualities, mako is bland and uninteresting and can’t make a decision to save his life, tenzin is neat but he is often forced to be dumb cause the plot demands it like how mr spiritual has never been to the spirit world, asami is fanservice first for the guys and later for the sjws. Finally the world building, while many sequels are bad, most don’t undermine their source that much, not somwith korra, this show rewrites the rules for bending it changes the spirit world from a creepy and eerie place and instead it’s a Ghibli movie, and the avatar wan story is basically Prometheus mixed with Christianity as opposed to the original eastern philosophical origins of the show
Dante Basco in full Zuko costume pelvic thrusting fireballs from his crotch repeatedly screaming honor is something I didn’t think I needed until now Also: That cab-bitches joke is one of the greatest and well thought out gags I have ever seen
Let's appreciate one part of Zuko's redemption arc: the fact that Zuko mostly did it on his own. If Zuko had changed at the season 2 finale, we would have missed him confronting his father.
On "The Storm" it took my second watch through the second series to see the VERY subtle add-on of Azula when Iroh is watching the duel. I just thought she was a spectator... When I realized, man... My opinion of her went even lower.
Not just that, but if you look closely, you can see the sadistic smile on her face, while Iroh looks away. That, I think, was the moment when you realize, yeah, this girl is a whole other level of psychopathic villain.
*DarthCruciare87* I agree with how sadistic and manipulative Azula’s character is portrayed and the N.C. Said exactly how I felt about it, she’s “such an evil bitch, god I love her”. For all the good and moral core displayed in Aang, she’s the antithesis of him.
+Tahkozz thanks ! now I know what his costume was supposed to be... never ever heard of that show. Was it good, or was it a disapointement, that's why she'd say F# you Dante Basco ? (yeah, I didn't get the last joke, at all!)
Hey now, slumdog guy was good, its sad they had an inconsistent director and poorly adapted live action movie. Especially the make up and effects ugh those were horrid
Even with Channel Awesome's fall from grace, I still hold Doug's Avatar Vlogs and these reviews close to my heart. It was so much fun watching someone fall in love with ATLA, literally transforming from a person watching a show because they felt FORCED to for their fans, into a passionate champion of the entire series. Watching Doug slowly "get" it, day by day, was a treat. Plus, he got Dante fucking Basco to give us the live-action Zuko we deserved, in addition to splitting reviewing duties for the finale with the hero of the fans. Thanks Doug.
Hmmm. What's fall from grace to you, to me is a bunch of twenty- and thirty-somethings having to grow up and learn about what type of contracts they are signing and the career they've chosen. We normies find out about it as soon as we enter the job market and no one cries over us. All I'm saying is now that the old crew is free to do what they want we can actually gauge how popular they are without external help and most of them have failed miserably. I mean look at their number of subscribers, children testing toys or people having cute dogs have more. And the main star of this channel can actually focus on the thing he knows best rather than chasing after drama llamas. When a celebrity (even an Internet celebrity) is complaining about how difficult their life is it's good to compare them to an average Joe to put things into perspective. Personally, I've stopped feeling sorry for people who watch films, play games and fly to places I will never see to make a living.
@@mikshinee87 completely agree. I'd anything I look at the "change the Channel" as the huffing and puffing of overly pretentious internet personalities who rode Doug's coattails for a decade and lashes out because they never got as popular as he did. The only one who really was unique to himself was Bras Jones and I respect Cinemas Snob as much as I do Doug. The worst was Lupa, she was such a condescending prick and she really never bounced back after her leaving C.A. nor Phelous.
I thought of it as filler at the beginning, because it kinda followed the “Beach episode” rule almost every anime has, but then I realized it’s actually a good episode, it has the enemy revealing their weaknesses not only to us, but also to themselves, and you can realize it did influenced in the long term. Zuko finally realized that his inner problems are the reason his unhappy, Mai and Tai realize that their friendship with Azula is flawed, and Azula starts to realize her madness. But the problem with this episode, which may be the reason it had been left out of the list, is that the build up doesn’t deliver until several episodes later.
Honestly, it would have been a decent episode for me. If it weren't for the fact that I hate the villains. Azula and Ty Lee are annoying as fuck, Mai is eh, Zuko is actually pretty cool. I don't really like LOK, but the one thing I like about it is that the villains are actually good. Well, Amon, Vaatu, and Zaheer anyways. Unalaq is kind of forgettable. I haven't seen book 4 yet.
One thing I really like about this show that this made me think about is how many /old/ characters they have.In most kid shows adult characters tend to be rare and usually end up as villains or comic foils or both. But this is EXTRA true for old people. Any character over 60 character their only job is to spit out wisdom or act senile. In this how however, there are a lot of old people with a variety of roles, and most of them are well developed and we get to know their entire back stories. Iroh, King Boomy, the bloodbender woman, Gran Gran, and many more. Old people, and especially grandparents are deeply valued for their life experience in this show and I think that's fantastic for a group that is shuffled off to the side in both media and real life.
Critic displays my emotions and reactions to these epiosdes " you smiled that never happens... Your giving up Jasmine tea for this . Jasmine teeeaaa!!!"
Nostalgia Critic: *Makes a worst Avatar episodes list* Zuko: My name is Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation. You dishonored me and my friends. Prepare to die.
Nuclearturtles I kinda agree with you there (especially with Zuko Alone), though I absolutely loved the in-jokes between Dante and Tamara. But in having Basco put in his thoughts critiquing just the top pick was the right amount of input
Katara and Azula were the perfect final match. Azula's obsessive adoration, need to please, need to be the best...vs Katara's true affection for her friends, selfless sacrifice, and unwavering loyalty. Even though Azula was a prodigy, possibly the greatest firebender who ever lived, cruel, strategic, unfazed by anything...she was an imperfect daughter. Ozai wanted a killer, but somewhere underneath the madness Azula still wanted love. She resented her mother for being so soft, so caring, toward Zuko. She craved kindness from her father, his approval, even though she would never admit it to herself OR him. She was dependent, and that made her weak, which would make Ozai cast her aside without a thought. Katara, meanwhile, is utterly secure in her family and friends. She loves and is loved, and her drive to protect those she cares about brings her to master waterbending in a way no one ever had before. Katara is the perfect foil for Azula. She is everything Azula could ever want to be, and she is the recipient of the same sacrifice Ursa made for Zuko. To have Zuko and Azula fight would have been cliche, and moreover, it would have left Zuko with the same legacy as Ozai. A violent usurper, even if justified. Instead, Katara defeated Azula by being a shield. It's a brilliant, emotional, and visually spectacular ending for the greatest villain I have ever seen on TV or in film.
Saibellus very true and going vack to what Iroh said why he'd refuse to fight Ozai. The world would see it as a struggle for power. A sibling fighting a sibling.
My pick for best episode in the series is "The Tales of Ba Sing Se". I'm not surprised it wasn't mentioned here and I'm fine with that, but my understanding of cartoons and really all expressive media is story, and story boils down to characters. Aang, Katara and Toph, Sokka, and even Momo are all given very fitting solo stories that showcase their individual personalities. The little vignettes are all well done, but its the last story they focus on that seriously gets to me. The Tale of Iroh. Iroh is the best character in the entire series, in my opinion. His humbleness, his humor, his self-deprecating personality and complete dedication to his nephew Zuko are contrasted perfectly against a brilliant strategic mind, incredible understanding of firebending and the concept of bending itself, and an unbreakable force of will. His story in The Tales of Ba Sing Se demonstrates beautifully how Iroh's mind and his heart work, giving advice and help freely and gladly to anyone he encounters, even a man who tries to mug him. At the end, we find that the entire day Iroh had been preparing a private picnic to remember his dead son, the one person Iroh couldn't help. It serves as a reminder of the man he once was, a ruthless general and dragon-slayer, transformed by his defeat at Ba Sing Se and the killing of his only child. As if that wasn't enough to bring you to tears, the episode ends with a dedication to Mako, Iroh's voice actor who passed away in 2006. Nothing tugs on my heartstrings quite like that vignette, which to me, makes it a masterpiece of animation.
I don't think the other vignettes are that memorable (don't get me wrong, they're really enjoyable, but they alone wouldn't make the episode memorable), but yeah, Tale of Iroh is easily one of the best pieces the show ever did, hell one of the best pieces in animation period.

Namajaff Iroh singing for his son provokes levels of emotion matched only by the opening to Up and the closing song from the Seymour episode of Futurama.
At first i thought that Dante Basco was only imitating Zuko and Jake Long's voices. But my mind was blown when i looked it up and realized he was the voice actor for both of them. I feel like an idiot. Edit: I know this is sad, but i have not gotten any more than 3 likes before. Let alone 60. Thank you all for liking this!!

I agree that it should be on the list. But don’t discredit the other amazing episodes. As great as it was, so many other episodes are just as memorable and amazing. This show makes it so hard to narrow down.
When I was younger I hated this show. A bunch of children with special powers?zipidy do da! I bet you came up with that on the spot huh? But nicktoons had a marathon of this show and I think I cried like 6 times. I didn't need a critic to tell that this was the greatest cartoons of all time.

Nintendo Overdrive yeah, people judge the entire ep on the Iroh bit. The others are good, but not top tier avatar except for maybe Zuko and Sokkas.
Chokovok My favorites are the tale of Iroh, because of obvious reasons, Momo’s, because it shows that he and Appa aren’t just pets that get along, and Katara’s and Toph’s, because it makes their friendship evolve a little more.
@Nintendo Overdrive I love the Momo, and Zuko bits, and if you don't shed a tear at the Iro section, you have no heart, R.I.P Mako

Honestly, that's just every Wednesday
@@TaoOfTheFist I can believe that.
And all of LOK is soulless.

It's fucking great.

@@AdjustedDisparity gotta work with what you got
I've been waiting for a comment like this.
Interestingly energy bending was teased early on with iroh teaching zuko about lightning describing it as a pure energy and untainted by emotion

So imagine what it was like watching what you initially tought would be the last episode in the series and seeing your heroes fail, and learning that they would now have to fight Ozai in the day of the comet where everything would be 10 times harder for them.

a lot of series one likes as a child, one only likes because one is a child, and when, as an adult, you watch them again, it's just a cringe-fest, and at at that moment one understands that one only liked the series because one didn't care about the cringe and the nonsense, ATLA is not one of those series, the creators managed to create a magnificent, consistent and simply outstanding work that will never grow old, and that encompasses the full meaning of the expression "family-friendly", a lot of shows think that being family-friendly is just being something a child can watch, but this series nails it, because it's not only something a kid can watch, but it's also something a teenager and an adult can enjoy just as much, the series is well written, well animated and it's just strong in all fronts, I would say that calling the series a masterpiece of animation is and understatement.

Ok that would be amazing, but only if written by the original creators
Considering how the handled korra, best to leave that alone
I mean they are doing spin-off books, maybe do it there
The problem with following up such a near perfect series like ATLAB is people have too many expectations.

@@mikshinee87
Well said. I too, share this sentiment.
'The Beach' deserves to be on this list and I will fight you on that.
That episode was just ok imo. I usually skip it whenever I rewatch the series
I don’t know if I can call it filler since the fire nation found out aang was alive but by far the best filler

Because we fans enjoy stuff 1 step beyond others
low key I wished we got Dante Basco's input on the best episodes, kinda seems like an opportunity wasted to me
Nuclearturtles I kinda agree with you there (especially with Zuko Alone), though I absolutely loved the in-jokes between Dante and Tamara. But in having Basco put in his thoughts critiquing just the top pick was the right amount of input
He probably had input behind the scene when writing and deciding the list.
He probably suggested some stuff
Anyone gonna talk about the slum dog millionaire reference? It had Dev Patel (Zuko movie actor) in it and not Dante Basco (Zuko show actor)
The Tales was always my favorite episode growing up. I'm kinda disappointed it didn't get a mention in here.
The tales of Ba Sing Se actually made me tear up a bit, and cartoons rarely make me do that
Iroh is definitely the best character in both ATL and LOK
Sokka was in a haiku battle

Season 2 Episode 15 Tales of Ba Sing Se...one of my favorite episodes.
Namajaff Iroh singing for his son provokes levels of emotion matched only by the opening to Up and the closing song from the Seymour episode of Futurama.
Your background... music during the transitions between each entry make me laugh.
Also, "Zuko Alone" got me into the series, ironically.

When I was younger I hated this show. A bunch of children with special powers?zipidy do da! I bet you came up with that on the spot huh? But nicktoons had a marathon of this show and I think I cried like 6 times. I didn't need a critic to tell that this was the greatest cartoons of all time.
I didn't like it when it first came put either. I was just simply too young to appreciate it. I didn't get into it until the full thing came out on Netflix.
My dad didn’t let me watch it because “it has bad messages.” When I became an “adult” (let’s be real we never grow up). I watched it cause everyone liked it. And ohhhh I loved it so much!
Rainbow the wind sage I was young when I first watched it too and even then I appreciated the hell out of it
ReinSouls “bad messages”? What, like, “don’t appreciate good stories”?

Picture the religious Right of the 90s. That’s exactly how my father is. It was a pain growing up. He even chewed me out once cause I had friends who use course language 🙄
11:35 the moment he redirects back at his dad is the single best moment of the entire series. It is the climax of his character turn, and an amazing payoff to something they've been building up since *episode three*
My entire household cheered when that happened
