Thank you very much for the video and analysis! It was very interesting and fun to watch :) Regarding metroidvania or not, we tried to take elements of classic metroidvanias, but obviously our game is too linear to be considered a metroidvania, we understand this very well.
Thank you for the fun game! I saw your dev notes and understand you all knew exactly what you were making. I think what you’ve created is solid, and I’ve recommended it to my daughters. They like it a lot and wanted to tell you all great job!
Regarding tags on Steam. Any user can tag a game. That's why so many games are mislabelled there. The dev of Genopanic has been clear about this in all marketing for months BUT users on Steam has tagged it as a MV anyways.
@MetroidvaniaGuru Regarding the dev I saw you told him you recommended his game to your daughters like it was a compliment. He took it very gracefully! But perhaps you're right, it might be a kiddies game 🤷♂️. However, if it's not and if it never was his intention, that's not a nice thing to hear...
@@johanandersson8646 I was being sincere. I did recommend it to my daughters. I think this game is good for kids and people starting video games. I say that in my vid, and the devs say something to that effect in their blog (that the game is low-skill entry or something). I definitely didn’t intend to be insulting. It’s a good game that’s new-gamer friendly.
Started watching this channel about 2-3 months ago. Wasn’t too invested in the genre at that point, but I’ve played nothing but metroidvanias since. I dig this little game btw.
Isn't it great! I have been a long time fan of metroidvanias, but just because of this channel I have purchased after image, grime, death gambit, animal well, unsighted, and all of these were games I learned about from this channel
It is really annoying how so many games on Steam's MV list arent actually MVs. Half the first results are things like Dead Cells and its clones or any 2D game with exploration or RPG epements. I do consider Rain World an honorary example though. On that note have you ever been impressed by a game that was mislabeled as a metroidvania,
There are just folks out there who straight up think Metroidvania is just a synonym for pixel-platformer. Plus, on the developer/publisher, side, there probably is active incentive to use metroidvania labeling for games that borrow a few MV aspects, b/c they are trying to target players who would like MVs. Genopanic is a good example of the latter... yeah Guru didn't like it because ultimately it's too puzzley... but let's be honest there is HEAVY crossover with MV fans & platformer fans in general. It makes sense to try & get your retro-platformer tagged as an MV, even though you will annoy the piss out of MV purists, simply b/c the increased eyeball count compensates. "On that note have you ever been impressed by a game that was mislabeled as a metroidvania" => Dead Cells & Rain World
I played the demo and quite liked it. A shame the exploration isn't that developed, but as a puzzle-platformer fan, I'm sure I'll enjoy this anyway, though I'll wait for a sale.
Action platformer is more applicable imo since the puzzles can hardly be called that. If you can solve every single one in a glance it's not a puzzle game.

@@MetroidvaniaGuru Oh that's very nice, thank you very much ❤
The "what was I talking about" reoccuring joke was cute.

Yeah, I read the devs notes on their blog after playing the game. They knew what they were making, and it wasn’t a traditional MV

Está bonito, saldrá para switch?
According to the dev, yes!
Absolutely! :)
seems cute... even if is not a good metroidvania seems like a fairly enjoyable game.

ah yes, another hard pass, thanks for saving me the time
