  • Caramel kheer is a delightful Pakistani dessert that combines creamy rice pudding with a rich caramel twist. It is typically made by boiling milk, sugar or jaggery, and rice and garnished with different nuts. It is served warm or chilled as a dessert, breakfast, or anytime you crave something sweet!
    Kheer is a quintessential Pakistani dessert, perfect for festivals and celebrations.

    Ingredients:
    • 4 +1/4 CUPS MILK
    • ¼ CUP GROUND RICE
    • ½ CUP SUGAR
    • ½ TSP. CARDAMOM POWDER
    • 2 TBSP. WATER
    • 3 TBSP. MILK POWDER
    • AS REQUIRED, ASSORTED NUTS, CHOPPED
    • AS REQUIRED, CARAMEL CHUNKS
    Method:
    1. Pour 4 cups of milk in a pan along with cardamom powder and some nuts.
    2. Bring to a boil, scrapping the sides down. Cook till reduced to half.
    3. Dissolve milk powder with reserved milk and add to the kheer. Mix well.
    4. In a pan add sugar with water and caramelize the sugar, swirling the pan.
    5. Add the caramel to the kheer and mix. Cook to desired thickness.
    6. Serve garnished with caramel chunks and reserved nuts.

    That looks delicious. I like to cook and I like caramel but I've never made caramel before, you made it look easy. You sure made the dessert look so good when you finished. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

      Thank you so much. Actually I don't even know how to make caramel! Its just a hit and try. Basically, if you have the patience, which I don't (lol), is to allow the sugar to melt, crystalise and then melt again without stirring. You can add butter after to turn it into a sauce.
