I hike in Merrels… various models and have had no issues. I hike regularity and usually get 6-8 months before i change them out.
Not sure how you wore out the laces on 6 hikes and to the office?

Im thinking the metal lace parts cut into them. Maybe they were pulled too tight??? Everyone speaks very highly of them, maybe I got a dodgy pair. 😬 Thanks for the feedback.

I bought a used pair on EBAY for $45.00. Seems many boot owners don’t do leather maintenance? For me I’ve been using mink oil on my expensive leather boots for decades. one of my Chippewa boots are over 30 years old and still good, these Merrell’s aren’t even close to that kind of quality but they are comfortable for general use and when cared for they can hang in there.

Thanks for the tips mate. They are definitely comfortable. I expected a little better quality. Have a good day.

I used Merrell's in Afghanistan and have loved them since. Use them for hiking, farm work and hunting still. Must be a dud pair because mine went through Afghan water ways, dry desert, rocks, rocks and more rocks from Afghan winters to their 50 + summers. This was carrying 40kg pack and 25kg plus personal equipment and still use them for back pack hunting, usually in the cooler months. Once you get a dud pair though it ruins the name for you.

That’s ridiculous. Fair enough if they are 12 months old and have been through hell and back. But not 7 months in an office.

I’d recommend Belleville 590 boots. You will have to figure out your size. I’m a size 9.5 USA normally, and I wear a size 8 in Belleville .

Moab 3 Edge Wide Width; just tried to leave a review for these on the Merrell site, in response to an email they sent asking for a review. Funny, I bought another different pair of boots I just reviewed BEFORE I bought my Moabs, but they did not allow me to post my Moab review due to expiration (hmmm)...only purchased in Feb, but they allowed me to post for the other boot. Fact is, the Moabs are DANGEROUS!!! Not only because of the terrible laces that do not tighten due to the lace material and come undone constantly, but the Vibram (?) sole HAS NO GRIP under damp conditions. I bought my Moabs specifically for a trip to the UK and "Vibram sole", and held on for my life while walking the ramparts around Conway Castle when others in sneakers had no issues. Worst boot I've ever purchased, and now have no confidence in both Merrell and this crappy dumb-down Vibram sole. Sorry Merrell, I was a 40 year fan...no more.
