Just started watching the video really enjoying so far. New to your channel so I'll have to check out a few of your other videos after this. Anyway I'm about 100 hours deep in my first playthrough. I went into the game blind with as little spoilers as possible, so I kept my backstory kind of vague and let the details fill themselves in as I played. My Character is named Kira Eddison. She is in her early 20s. Her background is Combat Medic with the traits Alien DNA, Empath, and Extrovert. She was raised from infancy on a remote scientific outpost by her parents. She was a real lonely child growing up, she didn't have many people to interact with living in this remote spacestation, just a handful of scientists and her parents. Speaking of her parents, they were very distant from Kira growing up. They weren't deliberately cruel or mean, it's just that they were always more concerned with their experiments and research than they were with her. This is how Kira got the Alien DNA trait to begin with, an experiment conducted by her parents. Kira's loneliness continued like this until she was 7 years old. That's when she met the person who would become her constant companion over the next decade, Lori. Lori was the daughter of another scientist couple who came to live at the outpost to do research. Lori and Kira became close friends almost overnight. Which was natural considering that they were the same age and had very similar lives up until that point. Although Lori's parents were much more loving and caring than Kiras. Kira got close extremely close to both Lori and her parents, so much so that she spent more time in Lori's hab than she did her own. It continued like this until she was 11 years old, that's when Kiras' parents died. It was an accident, explosive decompression while in one of the research Habs. One second she was talking to them about spending her 5th night in a row at Lori's, and the next second they were gone, sucked out into space. After that Kira grieved, but it didn't take long for her to get over it. They had spent her whole childhood being remote, which ironically enough made their deaths much easier to handle. Kira then moved in with Lori and her parents, and those were best years of her life yet. At 15, Kira realized she was in love with Lori, and the two began a relationship together. They were always sneaking off to some remote part of the station to "spend time" with each other. This was the final year that Kira would spend with Lori because two days after Kiras' 16th birthday is when spacers attacked the station. This particular group of spacers were trying to get into the good graces of the crimison fleet. So, the fleet decided to use the spacers as disposable pawns to get at all the resources the station had. If the spacers succeed great the spacers can join, and the fleet gets richer. If they fail, the Fleet isn't in any worse shape all they lost is a few weapons and resources. The spacers attacked, and because they had access to the fleets resources, they were able to break through the stations defenses. After the spacers got onto the station all hell broke loose. Lori's parents died from a hand grenade thrown by one of the spacers. Lori herself got shot and bled out in kiras' arms. Kira had no idea what idea to do and could only watch as Lori died. After that, Kira went a little mad. She managed to wrestle a pistol away from one of the spacers and began fighting for her life. She killed at least 3 spacers and wounded 2 more just by herself. Kira and the few survivors that were left worked together and managed to kill the last of the spacers. After the battle Kira left the station on the first ship that would take her. She started drifting throughout the settled systems working odd jobs here and there. She couldnt outrun her dreams though, haunted by the sight of Lori dying in her arms everynight. It was only after Kira decided to study medicine that the dreams finally stopped, almost as if Lori was giving her the push she needed like she always done in the past. The next few years were very busy for Kira, when she wasn't working she was studying. Always trying to learn something new from the doctors, nurses, and medics she would run into in her travels. It wouldn't take long for her to put her new found knowledge to use. Kira seemed to have a knack for finding pirates, or for them finding her. So she never lacked for opportunities to test her medical skills in the field, whether it be on herself or her coworkers. Years past like this and Kira decided that maybe it was time for her to officially become a doctor and go to med school. However med school is expensive, and she wasnt exactly rolling in credits, and thats when she heard about the extremely well paying Argos mining job...... That's Kiras' backstory. As far as the roleplay goes Kira is neutral good on the dnd alignment scale. Kira respects Law and order, she doesnt steal or generally break the law, but she is not a slave to the law either. If breaking the law is required for her to do what is right, she will break the law. Her outgoing and empathetic nature makes it so that she wants to help the people she runs across if possible. The exception to this is pirates and hard-core criminals she has no empathy for them whatsoever. Factions and quests done: UC vanguard: Kira joined the UC not becuase she admires them, but she figured it would be a great way to get out into the systems and do some good. Freestar: Kira did not join the rangers. (I think its weird that kind you can join both Freestar and the UC considering their recent history, so I made a rule that I can only join one or the other on any given playthrough, my Head Canon is that once the rangers realized that she is in the vanguard they would not let her join.) Ryujin: honestly she wouldn't even consider applying at this point in her life. After joining the vanguard and constellation she has completely forgotten that she was headhunted by Ryujin. Crimison Fleet: I think its pretty obvious the choice Kira made when it came to the fleet. Side quests: Kira loves helping people so that means pretty much doing most side quests. Companions Sarah has pretty much been Kiras constant companion throughout the story ever since Mars. I havent beat the main quest line becuase I have been doing so much sidequesting and exploring, but I kind of want to roll a new character so I'm gonna focus on the main story from no on. I plan on doing ryujin and the rangers on my next playthrough. As for my next character this is what I decided. Name: Asher Delaney Background: CyberRunner Traits: Va'Ruun worshipper, Spaced, and wanted. Backstory: raised worshiping the great serpent since childhood Asher always wanted to know what else was out there. His natural curiosity was considered a bad thing by his religious fundamentalist clan. He stowed away on a ship when he was a teen and never looked back. He quickly learned that in order to stay alive he would have to engage in some legally questionable activities. A mans got to eat after all. Eventually he pissed off the wrong person and that resulted in a bounty being put on his head. He is not even sure who actually placed the bounty after all he has stolen quite a bit over the years. He needed an exit fast, and lucky for him Argos was hiring for some remote off world mining. He is a criminal who has no issues with stealing, but it's just one more tool in his toolbox. He is willing to legitimate work. it's about whatever is paying best, not living the criminal lifestyle. However even though he is fine with crime, he is not a pirate. He will not go around killing and looting indiscriminately. He much prefers pickpockets a rich man, or breaking into business and stealing some inventory. Smuggling some contraband is right up his alley. He might be a thief, but he is no savage.
Wow this very in depth. Way more thought than I could ever put into a role-play. At least now anyway. Haha! I'm kind of new to the RP scene. Thank you for sharing all of this. It was a great read. @@agamersjournal honestly I think once you get used to roleplaying it sort of becomes second nature. Just think about the basic stuff about your character and then fill in the details as you go. Using jack as an example; why is jack so interested in exploration? Is it because he is searching for something? Maybe he is running from something? Maybe one of his ancestors was one of the was one of the first explorers back when humanity first left the sol system. Once you answer the basic questions of why a character does certain action, it becomes easier to create a detailed backstory. Anyway can't wait to see more of Jack's tale.
I have a scientist/explorer build and I'm loving it. I have done probably 2 main missions and the rest I have just been upgrading all of science traits just by doing complete surveys of the planets. I'm at level 25 just doing all that alone. Its so relaxing to just traverse across these worlds and doing surveys.
A-Mazing! I'm playing myself but love to watch others play too. Unfortunately, so many other creators don't play in a serious roleplay way. Your voice over work, editing, free camera shots, gosh everything turned it from a game to a cool show. I hope the RUclips algorithm is very kind and many people find this series. A month late to the party, but this video was amazing. Most I’ve seen are a little cheesy but this felt like I was watching a movie. The effort you put into the video with the voice effects and the cinematic shots really pulled me in. +1 from me and I’ll be checking out the rest of the series.
I really appreciate that. Unfortunately and I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I think this may be the ONLY episode I do. I was working on episode 3 and wasn’t happy at all with how things were going. It all felt forced and contrived. It was my first time doing this with a story driven game and I feel like I’m more at home telling a story when I have an open sandbox. I’ve been on a creative hiatus trying to find THE next game. I hope you can understand but I truly appreciate your feedback and it means alot. 😁
If I can make a game suggestion, I would highly recommend trying out Project Zomboid. I feel you would really enjoy that game and it would couple very well with your RP survival series.
I have tried that game before! It feels like one of those games that would take me some time to get the hang of it due to all of the mechanics and systems but its definitely one that has crossed my mind in terms of a series. Thanks for the suggestion :)

Thank you! I really wanted a backstory that made sense. Working in a mine feels random unless your character has a good reason for being there. It’s all about intention for me. Have fun with your 2nd run! Roleplay is always a great way to keep things interesting.
This was an incredible start to what will surely be an incredible series. I can't wait for more of this. Everything from the voice work to the camera work was near flawless. You have certainly gained yourself a new subscriber and a regular viewer if the content is anywhere near this well put together!
Yes so excited for this however if you are going to be doing a more explorer side of things I may have to skip out on some parts. With the way I'm role playing I'm intentionally avoiding side quest that seem more like a do this out of the kindness of your heart, companions outside of Vasco (so far), and avoiding planet exploration as a whole. For my NG+ play through I'm going to be doing the complete opposite, so I am really looking forward to it all. Half-way through the video cant wait to see where your adventure takes you :)
Hey all good! It’s definitely going to be more geared towards the main story and it’s main characters so if there are side quests it will be strictly with companions from Constellation most likely. And I can almost guarantee that you’ll probably get to NG+ before I even get halfway through the story. Making videos is going to slow my playthrough greatly. @@chadbunger3577 ah dang! Yeah the ship building system seems to be extremely deep which is my only concern as I could easily see me getting lost in it for too long. BUT because of that I think it’s one of the more intriguing systems.
As far as I know, the Soldier background has the most unique special lines. I tried Explorer but nothing showed up in the Lodge. Im actually planning starting over (for the 8th time) and Xenobiologist and get the UC Vanguard Xeno armor (even though biologist fighting on the front lines makes no sense, beast hunter seems the best fit). Also I believe Noel mentioned she needs Xenobiologist, so it would be interesting to see if we have any unique options.
Yeah I thought about how a Xenobiologist could be a really fun playthrough. Just exploring all planets to discover all of the different species. It’s crazy that the main campaign is based on an explorer’s group and there’s no interesting conversation lines.
I really like your editing style for the roleplay. How you cut to cinematic shots midvideo, and show a little bit of the menus behind the scenes. I always like seeing whats going on with leveling, stats, and gear for these kinds of roleplay series. Maybe other people dont like it, but its never broken immersion for me. Also i wanted to ask is this a completely blind playthrough? It seems like from the description on the video that it is. I was just curious because i was wondering if you have any idea what direction you want jack to go when it comes to the factions, gear, skills, etc.
Really appreciate that! And yeah in terms of the menus, I’m trying to find that balance of cinematic while still reminding everyone that it’s a video game. This was awesome! Will you hoard a specific object like a lot of players are doing? Like the sandwich hoards or that kind of thing? I tend to collect books and toys I like. I got so excited when I found a copy of Dracula during one outing. It’s oddly fun.
Thanks so much! And that’s a good question! I think it will heavily depend on the item. I love that they have classic books scattered around. I found Moby Dick among others in a separate playthrough.

100%! I’ve been doing that as well in a separate playthrough and yes! It’s so relaxing and so fun to just randomly roam these planets.
I’m glad they didn’t have a voiced protagonist in Starfield so you’re able to actually voice your character, lol

A month late to the party, but this video was amazing. Most I’ve seen are a little cheesy but this felt like I was watching a movie. The effort you put into the video with the voice effects and the cinematic shots really pulled me in. +1 from me and I’ll be checking out the rest of the series.
I really appreciate that. Unfortunately and I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I think this may be the ONLY episode I do. I was working on episode 3 and wasn’t happy at all with how things were going. It all felt forced and contrived. It was my first time doing this with a story driven game and I feel like I’m more at home telling a story when I have an open sandbox. I’ve been on a creative hiatus trying to find THE next game. I hope you can understand but I truly appreciate your feedback and it means alot. 😁

If I can make a game suggestion, I would highly recommend trying out Project Zomboid. I feel you would really enjoy that game and it would couple very well with your RP survival series.
I have tried that game before! It feels like one of those games that would take me some time to get the hang of it due to all of the mechanics and systems but its definitely one that has crossed my mind in terms of a series. Thanks for the suggestion :)

Im finished with the ms, really went in a direct line. Now, im getting ready for well just this, immersive roleplay and going all in. Picking up sq and fq but only if they fit. Looting normal and a few more of my own rules, still working on that. Anyway enjoyed your start! See you out there captain 😉
Thank you! I really wanted a backstory that made sense. Working in a mine feels random unless your character has a good reason for being there. It’s all about intention for me. Have fun with your 2nd run! Roleplay is always a great way to keep things interesting.

Yes so excited for this however if you are going to be doing a more explorer side of things I may have to skip out on some parts. With the way I'm role playing I'm intentionally avoiding side quest that seem more like a do this out of the kindness of your heart, companions outside of Vasco (so far), and avoiding planet exploration as a whole. For my NG+ play through I'm going to be doing the complete opposite, so I am really looking forward to it all. Half-way through the video cant wait to see where your adventure takes you :)
Hey all good! It’s definitely going to be more geared towards the main story and it’s main characters so if there are side quests it will be strictly with companions from Constellation most likely. And I can almost guarantee that you’ll probably get to NG+ before I even get halfway through the story. Making videos is going to slow my playthrough greatly. @@chadbunger3577 ah dang! Yeah the ship building system seems to be extremely deep which is my only concern as I could easily see me getting lost in it for too long. BUT because of that I think it’s one of the more intriguing systems.
As far as I know, the Soldier background has the most unique special lines. I tried Explorer but nothing showed up in the Lodge. Im actually planning starting over (for the 8th time) and Xenobiologist and get the UC Vanguard Xeno armor (even though biologist fighting on the front lines makes no sense, beast hunter seems the best fit). Also I believe Noel mentioned she needs Xenobiologist, so it would be interesting to see if we have any unique options.
Yeah I thought about how a Xenobiologist could be a really fun playthrough. Just exploring all planets to discover all of the different species. It’s crazy that the main campaign is based on an explorer’s group and there’s no interesting conversation lines.
I really like your editing style for the roleplay. How you cut to cinematic shots midvideo, and show a little bit of the menus behind the scenes. I always like seeing whats going on with leveling, stats, and gear for these kinds of roleplay series. Maybe other people dont like it, but its never broken immersion for me.
Also i wanted to ask is this a completely blind playthrough? It seems like from the description on the video that it is. I was just curious because i was wondering if you have any idea what direction you want jack to go when it comes to the factions, gear, skills, etc.
Really appreciate that! And yeah in terms of the menus, I’m trying to find that balance of cinematic while still reminding everyone that it’s a video game. It just all depends if it makes sense in the moment, etc.

This was awesome! Will you hoard a specific object like a lot of players are doing? Like the sandwich hoards or that kind of thing? I tend to collect books and toys I like. I got so excited when I found a copy of Dracula during one outing. It’s oddly fun.
Thanks so much! And that’s a good question! I think it will heavily depend on the item. I love that they have classic books scattered around. I found Moby Dick among others in a separate playthrough.
