  • My new golf driver which one is better? with Mark Crossfield golf professional. Mark has two new golf drivers that he will be playing this year one in the XXIO range featuring a very light weight golf shaft and the other from the Cleveland golf range in the HB Turbo Launcher which is much closer to the driver Mark is used to playing. Can he find more yards and hit longer drivers with the Cleveland driver or the XXIO driver. How will these numbers compare to his old Titleist driver and any of the Callaway, Tayloramde, Cobra, Mizuno or Ping drivers he has tested. IF you are looking for the best golf driver of 2020 will the Cleveland or the XXIO X models be in you demo list to try .Watch as Mark talks about how he goes about choosing a driver and what he is looking for in his golf clubs when fitting and trying to get the best golf driver for his golf game.
    In the comments below let Mark know what driver from the two tested you would choose and which one would you want him to start the year using.

    They are made by the same company. So you're seeing the Natural Light vs Michelob Ultra test. If Srixon was tested it would be Bud Light in the group.

    You've been testing these clubs for weeks now and still aren't confident which driver would suit best. How are us mere mortals supposed to get it right in a 45 minute fit session at a range or in a studio?

      I think what you have to take from it, is that if your not completely happy when it comes to paying then its time to have more sessions on the fitting. 45 mins fitting for some will be enough time and for some it may be 2 or 3 or even maybe 5 sessions to get fitted for what truly fits them. My new driver i got at Silvermere but i first got fitted at my golf clubs and then American golf before my final fitting and i did end up with a different driver in the end as well so time well spent for me.

    • @paulhudson2293
      @paulhudson2293 4 года назад

      @@garethedwards9896 Silvermere certainly have a great facility for their fitting, but if you don't buy something, you're paying money for that fit, so multiple sessions there isn't viable. I think this particular test is a bit skewed because those two are really opposite ends of the spectrum. Saying that, it highlights that the performance gains aren't massive, between a £800 club versus a £270 club, so why spend the money. If it's free, I'll take the extra 10 yards of carry, if I'm paying for it, maybe I'll save my £500.

    $345 Au for the HB Launcher Turbo in OZ. I bought one. Love it! The fact that you are even considering the Cleveland shows that you are not a golf club snob.
    I think you should game the CHBL first. It would assist a lot of golfers who don't have access to a fitting service see what you can achieve with an off the rack / non adjustable driver. Getting the right loft for your game is the only variable; 9., 10.5 or 12 degrees. For me the ability to hit the fairway far exceeds my need for 5 metres extra carry distance. Being way cheaper is a big plus too. I thought the Cleveland also had a counter balanced shaft?

    As a person who has tested both drivers. My decision came down to the complete flow of my full set. With that being said. I went all Cleveland's. Driver 9* to Halo 2&3, to HB irons 4-DW, 54* and 60* CBX2 wedges.

    I know it's across the pond, but get the guys from TXG involved in the process and compare: their process/how they do it/results TO yourself fitting/your results.

    This really shows that you should search when buying new clubs. Have 2 or 3 brands in mind, and then try them out. You dont have to buy that day. Go back in a week and try your top 2 drivers out. This just shows how being warmed up helps. That XXIO is such a beautiful driver, but man that price tag is a bit too pretty for me.

    Hi Mark, you said at the end that you can see why the launcher is still in the conversation, if I am honest, I can’t. For you, the XXio wins every time, the money argument doesn’t come into it, you have access to both and you should go with the one that is clearly better when considering your game and travel etc. You shouldn’t say the other one is still in the conversation just because it is less expensive. Your audience is educated enough to know that what works for you might not work for them and you have no responsibility on what they can afford. Just my opinion but I am sure someone else would bash you if you didn’t promote the cheaper one too so I understand. Keep up the good work

    Not to be controversial, but a colder golf ball could potentially go further. The ideal scenario would be to have an ice cold ball in warm weather for optimal ball speed. Hard ball ricochets faster, and warm air should have less drag, particularly at altitude

    Hi Mark, can I make a suggestion as daft as this might sound, why don’t you do a video with a driver that you can buy off the shelf and that’s just not suited for your game then adjust it with shaft, loft etc and fine tune it to show how important getting fitted correctly really does improve your game, because I still know lots of people that will buy a driver purely off advertising or seeing someone else with a driver and thinks wow he’s now 10 yards past me instead of me being 10 yards past him, I’m sure you know what I mean, it would be interesting too see how you dial the club in to suit you and how dispersion becomes much tighter with the correct fitting. Just a thought nothing more🤷‍♂️

    I'm not sure the XXIO is twice the club of the turbo as the price would suggest. I'm more sold on the turbo for my next driver and fairway woods. But I'll have to give up my extra 15 yards RBZ's to do it.

  • @wallstreetoneil
    @wallstreetoneil 4 года назад

    My comment on the XXIO is you are setting up a higher variance driver (light head, light swing weight with counterbalanced shaft, club face opened to target line with delofting (this will almost certainly increase lie angle as well (more knife edge)) but when you hit it, you 'can' get a 277 carry. If you are going to be running out of cars to do quick rounds this does not seem like the path to take. Would like to see a TXG 'fitting' video where they test out both with a dotted up face to show impact and recommend some tweeks (Head weight, non counterbalanced light shaft, etc)

    Cleveland Drivers are so underrated... Just because they're "not cool"... I use the Cleveland Classic as I love the deep face, I gamed a Cleveland Comp with NV65 S shaft for 11 years until it cracked on the top of the head... For many years I was one of our clubs longest hitters with my trusty Comp driver, Cleveland are quality!!! 👍🏻👌🏻

    Would like to see how the Cleveland performs on course. XXIO is out of my price range.

    I want to see the Cleveland on course with a tiny bit of hot melt in it to tame it's obnoxious sound. I really like the looks of the cleveland. A bit G400ish

    The XXIO X driver is $699.99 vs. Cleveland Launcher HB Turbo $349.99. That’s. a $350.00 difference. That’s twice as much as the Cleveland here in the U.S.. XXIO is a boutique Japanese brand. Mark you definitely have to go with the XXIO. Look at those numbers! 👀

    Great vid Mark have been looking forward to the comparison between the Cleveland and the XXIO.
    XXIO just looks a little harder to control unless you bomb it. Tough choice but I think your edging towards the XXIO.
    If so can I have the second hand Launcher. Lol. 😀

    What about the torque on the light shaft? I tried a TS1 with the lightest shaft and gained significant yards, but found my misses going way off line. One of the differences I noticed from heavier shafts was lower torque. Miyazaki’s seem to have lower torque than the shafts paired up with TS1. True?

    The new Callaway which you tested was far superior. I use a M3 tour, so not a fanboy for Callaway, but this XX10 looks wild, not in a good way!

    I'd like to see the Xxio in the bag first with the launcher irons.

    Have you tried the Wilson D7 driver? Similar weight to your XXIO and good consistency for a fraction of the price. Good videos!

    The turbo launcher looks a fantastic driver. I don’t know a great deal about xxio as a manufacturer are they a premium brand like peg? What are there irons and wedges like? Interesting 🤔

    Good vid Mark, would like to see you test a lighter shaft and thin grip in the Cleveland to see what difference it makes as that is a far more affordable driver for us more mortals. Could lead to us all swapping to lighter shafts 🤣
