- 2021 Specialized Status 140 REVIEW │ A supersized dirtjumper
Get to know the mullet Specialized Status, here with 140 mm suspension front and rear. This is a really playful bike that attracts lots of attention in the bike park! It is built to take a beating on those big jumps and it is not the bike that is holding you back when you push your limits.

Great review, definitely sounds like a bike I'm after, for uplifts on bikepark days
Thank you very much! It seems to be priced very well too, which I forgot to mention in the video. Great bike, but consider other tyres!
Great review. Subscribed. 👍
Thank you! 😀
Brilliant video man, I think the only way this review could have been better is if you included a bit more video from the bike on technical trails with that being said though i definitely feel like if I owned that bike I would mainly stick to jumps
Thank you! Yes, I agree. Would have ridden more technical trails if I would do this review again. Cheers!
Isaberg :) I like Specialized tires, but 2.3 on this bike is a mistake I guess. We had these bikes in the store and they sold out quickly which I did not expect due to the weight. People like them. We'll see if the narrative will change when the bike park season ends;) Cheers!
great review. I have the 160mm variant of the Status here in Japan. It is truly fun. Had to build a lot of stamina to pedal up hill, but going down it is so stable and fun. Are the frame colors different per country? Japan has the blue 140mm not your version..
Thank you for your comment! It would be cool to test the 160 mm version too, but I didn't feel that 140 mm was too little in that bike park where I tested it.
I don't know about the colour schemes for the bikes, but I think the colour was specific for the 140 mm.

@@MTBs So far it seems that way about the colors. you can only get the maroon in 160mm her in Japan and England I believe. Either way great review and that wish list will be well received. The drone shot looked great.
@@velvetMXO I think the 160 in Sweden is maroon as well, actually. I have learned that the 140 is not available in England.
Thanks for your kind words!
nice bike
It surely is a fun bike! Promise I will be back with more videos from Spain shortly!
Just picked one of these up. Very fun! People rag on NX in a lot of reviews for this bike, but I’ve had it on my Santa Cruz for a couple years and shifts perfect. I would upgrade to a sram free hub and gx or better cassette. The nx gets eaten up really fast and weighs a billion lbs.
Congrats!
I never had any real world issues with the NX drivetrain either, but as you say it's made of cheese and is a bit heavy. You could keep the hub, get a 3rd party cassette and run a GX trigger/derailleur for a more robust build quality if you are ok with 10-50. To keep the cost down and have to change the wheel too, I mean.
Or go all in. I don't know. 😂
Do you recommend it after a years of use? Can it be more like all mountain bike for flat surfaces or its more of an enduro bike? Best regards
Im jlous bout the color ihad the grey😃
I just bought a 160 mm one let's see how it's rides
Congrats! It will probably ride pretty well in big bike parks!
@@MTBs Yeah I think so too but unfortunately all the bike parks near me are closed until like April
How long did it take to bed in those codes. I’ve had my status for a few days and there not fully beded in yet.
Hi!
It shouldn't take more than a few minutes to bed in the brakes if done properly. GMBN has got a couple of good videos on how to do that. I find that the codes are pretty powerful, I even had them on a DH bike once. All depending on the brake pads of course and as you probably already know it is important to keep the rotors clean from grease and oil e t c.
Do you know how much clearance there is for a 27.5x2.6 or 2.8?
Hi! I don't know for sure, I only had the bike for one weekend but from what I remember there was a bit of a gap there. 2.8 would be to strech it though I think. Std tyres are 2.3.
I’m looking into getting this bike and I don’t know what size to get. I’m around 6”1. Should I get a size 4 or size 5?
It was three years ago I rode this bike, but I thought S4 worked very well for my 6’.
Based on your experience, is it worth going with 140 instead of 160? It sounds like it pedals bad so i wonder if there are any benefits to going with 140 over 160.
Hi!
It was a long time I tested the bike and it is a very tough question to answer. You will suffer all the way to the top either way, I think. In the end you should select the amount of travel you need based on where and how you ride, not based solely on how it is to climb. It is a gravity focused bike.
Hope that was some sort of answer at least.
No benefit. Go 160. Same applies for similar bikes in the category. If there are no weight saving and no added pedal efficiency no reason to get less travel. Cheers.
Does the rear shock has lockout?
It's very rare to find a bike without a lockout in general. It was a long time ago, but I think this bike had a DPX2 shock but that shock is now replaced by the X or X2 shock. All of them has got lockout.
What mud guard is that?
Don’t know, sorry. Just a regular flimsy mud guard I guess.
