The paint provides protection to the tree trunk from sunscald. You want to use an interior latex paint - never exterior - at a 1:1 ratio with water - so a gallon of paint and a gallon of water mixed well. If you're really concerned about organic you can make a milk based paint. From SFGate....
"Milk or casein paint is a safe, organic alternative to latex paint, and it can be made at home with few ingredients and materials you probably already have handy. First, mix the juice from one lemon with a quart of skim organic milk. Leave it out overnight -- perhaps in a place where you won't be able to smell it. In the morning, pour the mixture through cheesecloth to collect the curds. Mix the curds with 4 dry tablespoons of white artist's pigment. Wear a mask when mixing the pigment with the curds. This step is not necessary, but it will make for a "whiter" paint."
I put Black Walnut seeds in the refrigerator/freezer for cold stratification, plant them in 5-gallon planter during Spring/Summer and plant them in the ground in Fall. So far, so good.....I'm a 'newbie', but I'm trying to reforest my land in Black Walnuts.....
I am very interested in knowing more about growing walnuts because I am looking to start growing them too :) Do you have a youtube channel? For some reason I don't find information on walnut as much as I find for growing tomatoes :P

why white latex paint mixed with water ???

I don't trust this guy. I checked and he doesn't have a degree in agronomy from a major university. He's only been planting walnut trees since 1952, likely any good results he's had are just luck on his part.
