Welcome back! Even though my CP is not as severe as yours, I still find your videos very insightful. My trouble is that I'm "too high-functioning" (I have autism as well, but like you am not intellectually disabled, which is a big reason why I'm being denied) for day programs or government/private funding. It's frustrating because I need the support to live independently, and I could greatly benefit from a DSP to teach me the skills I need to live on my own. I even know a person with severe quadriplegic CP who was initially denied benefits due to not being intellectually disabled. It's ridiculous and we need more services to include those with milder disabilities and those with normal intelligence.

    Nice to see you back.
I had a lot of support at school (to the level of getting some changes to the special needs in ed act, 76? 78, 82 and 90 I think) I have managed to level independently mostly without support, for almost 30 years now these out working around problems are now catching up with me working around the problems, I am currently trying to get back into the support systems. I have a problem I am over 25 so I did not get the build of stocks as a young adult and need to get them as an adult. which is almost impossible. as I am just off the top end of most of the kit.
for walkers, if you are 5ft 10 is "easy" and cheap but 6ft If you can find 1 it is normally a special order and is not cheap.
warm clothing for wheelchair 5ft 10 easy 6ft special order if you are lucky.
If I was under 25 I could get help being 50 no.
So you need to make sure you have stocks of the hard-to-get thing while you can sort of get help.
And do not ever get signed off any of the specialist books.
