In listening to Angelina, I constantly wonder what makes her, from a very young age, able to understand music and transmit that understanding to the listener through her performance. Many musicians have parts of that talent. Angelina has the complete package.

She made it her own literally somehow coz she rewrote the lyrics of the song so that it will be age appropriate for her to perform the song. As much as I wanted to say that this is a great performance from her which it is....you haven't seen anything yet.😉
"Whilst keeping it very Amy Winehouse, it was also very _her_ - even though I don't know her." This is one of the best lines I've heard in an Angelina reaction video. It's so borderline nonsensical, and yet makes perfect sense… and is totally true, to boot. Angelina seems to be the kind of singer who can reveal "what she's all about" in a single performance. (If you're paying attention. And assuming that the performance is anywhere close to "typical" for her.)
While this "Back to Black" cover is a little bit "atypical", it does showcase her ability to "channel" Amy Winehouse (to whom she is endlessly compared) as well as her songwriting ability (as others have pointed out, she rewrote the song herself - I have some minor quibbles with the results, but that's not important right now).
Turns out, covering iconic singers in a way that emulates their styles without being mere imitations of them is a particular specialty of Angelina's. I know (without even reading the other comments) that you will be getting requests other Amy covers (especially "Valerie"), but I'd like to recommend her handful of Adele covers. Personally, I think they suit her voice and personality better. (See Rusty Shackelford's playlist for specific links.)
Thanks for a great reaction, and yes there are a many of us that love Angelina. I can’t let a day go whithout listening to her. In my mind, she is the best there ever was. You will have a lot of breathtaking moments when you go through Rustys list of songs she has covered!
Welcome to the world of Angelina obsession. She has left a record of her vocal development since six (!) until today, she's now 14. As far as I'm concerned, she's one of the most gifted singers I have heard in my 67 years, You'll be able to do a reaction a week for about three years with just what she has out now :)

I have listened to everything she has published on RUclips and have often been surprised at her versatility - she can sing Blues, Country, Disco, Jazz, Pop, R&B and Soul, and Rock - but never disappointed by her performance Listening to Angelina perform is an emotional experience in itself.
In an imaginative moment I likened Angelina to a chameleon, inasmuch as a chameleon adapts its colour to blend with the surroundings, so Angelina adapts the "colour" of her voice to convey the emotions of the song and communicate those emotions to the listener.
In the six years she has been singing publicly she has covered songs by Adele, Whitney Houston, Nancy and Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Lana del Ray, Gloria Gaynor, Elvis Priestly, Louis Armstrong and many others. She takes ownership of every song she sings while still paying respect to the original. She never goes into unnecessary theatrics. Never sings those high or low notes unless they are absolutely necessary. Never projects herself in any performance which says "look how good I am". She just sings the song as she feels it is meant to be sung. In life she is a very shy and humble girl. On stage she is transformed into the perfect vehicle for the song she has chosen to sing.
I follow a number of young singers through RUclips and do so because their singing appeals to my emotions but good as they are and as much as I admire them, there is not one of them who can match Angelina's sheer ability and artistry in being able to sing so many musical genre in what appears to be an effortless manner,
Different people, different lives, different characters. I mean Angelina and Emy. Emy gave to the song her experience of her life which was not very easy. Angelina never had any experience of the bad things in life . Still though she gave such emotion that made me shiver !!!!!! Thanks a lot for a wonderful reaction as usual .

Watching music with you reminds me of listening to albums at a friends house when i was a kid. You (and your husband) do such a great job. Consider me a fan. Also Angelina Jordan, words dont do her justice . Every generation has a couple outstanding music artists, I’m so glad I’m alive to witness her success.

After a long conversation in which they discuss their dreams in life, she gives the girl her shoes and the girl promises to pray for Jordan to fulfill her dream to become a successful singer. According to Jordan the book is based on a real incident which she cites as the reason for always performing barefoot.[16]
JUST A TIP: wear headphones. Angelina's voice has an amazing low register and small speakers won't do justice.

I watch a lot of reaction videos related to Angelina. Many mention her fantastic voice, her singing technique, her ability to give a completely unique performance with respect for the original. One thing is often underexposed as far as I'm concerned and that is her sense and ability for timing. Few singers can match the ability to demonstrate that with every performance. Her timing puts you in a rhythmic flow that takes you on the waves of her music.

Great non-reaction to Angelina! Your eyes and your silence spoke volumes while listening to her. There is no doubt she is a phenomenal young artist with an old soul that lives within her. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8, and just turned 14 in January. You will be amazed at the musicality that she presents in everything she does. She won the "Golden Buzzer" on America's Got Talent Champions, when she performed her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody. Loved your reaction. She amazes everyone who listens to her. You may be interested to here a little story about her. She was being interviewed for TV and was asked what it was like to be twelve and so talented. Angelina said that she was only 12 in her passport. When asked how she felt when she was singing. She said that when she was singing she went to a different place. When asked what it was like she explained it was full of colour and light, infinite!
You have discovered a future legend. This is not necessarily the best song to be introduced to Angelina. It is incredible of course (and at 10 years old even), but the song itself doesn't really show Angelina's full abilities. There are many, many more songs for you to check out from this girl. She is going to blow you away again and again. Side note: Angelina re-wrote the lyrics for this song (the original lyrics are not appropriate for a 10 year old to sing).

I recommend starting with "Gloomy Sunday" at 7 years old (you wanna see old soul, what until you see this 7 year old singing like she's 50). After that just pick literally anything else from the list. (87 videos and every single one is gold)
and the second thing I like to share is this little bio so that you can learn a little more about her background and her kind and caring soul.....
*Angelina Jordan*
- Angelina Jordan was born Jan 10 2006 in Oslo, Norway. She is currently 14
- She began singing at the age of one and a half
- At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and started studying all the greats from Jazz history with youtube videos.
- *Why Angelina always sings barefoot* - When Angelina was 6 years old, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. They talked for a while and discussed their dreams. It was cold and the girl had scars on her feet. Seeing this, Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the girl. The girl thanked her and told Angelina she would pray for her every day. That day Angelina made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot as a way to remember that little girl and to remind us that there are less fortunate people in the world that could use our help.
Angelina holds so true to this promise that she has sung outdoors in Norway, in december... barefoot. She has sung at a dinner with ex-pres Obama... barefoot. She went on AGT (possibly the biggest stage in the world)...bare foot. She made a promise at 6 years old, and has stuck strong to it for years. That takes a special kind of person.
- She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went on to win the whole show at just 8 years old.
- In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the prize money, the 8 year old replied, "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes"
- When Angelina was 9 years old she became the youngest published author in Norway, when she wrote a book about the story of why she doesn't wear shoes when she sings. She donated proceeds from the sales of the book to help children in need.
- The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. They do not want her to be thrust into stardom before she has a chance to grow up as a normal child, and finish her education. They allow her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that come in. I have heard they have turned down offers from many major record labels and even disney.
- Angelina has covered more than 120 songs and over 65 artists in the last 6 years. She always selects and arranges the songs herself... everything ranging from old classic jazz to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. (she can cover Amy Winehouse and Lana del Rey like nobody else)
- Angelina has collaborated with some very big names over the last few years... Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, Alan Walker and many more. All of which heard her and were blown away by her talent.
- Angelina has written three of her own original songs: "What is Life", "Shield" and "Oslo". (all are amazing...all can be found on youtube)
In summary, Angelina Jordan is destined to be one of the greatest singers to have ever lived. This is just my opinion, but if you listen closely to any of her stuff you will hear the greatness. She sings with a natural style. There is no acting, no showing off, there are no unnecessary runs, or big belty notes just for the purpose of saying "hey look at me sing". She once said "when I sing I go into a magical world in my head", and you can always hear the results of that. When Angelina sings it is pure soul, pure emotion, pure music.
Great to see our undisputed leader of the angels this sweet beautiful reactor will make a good addition to our fan family.

I have been following this young lady for a few years now and she never disappoints. From her audition to Norway's Got Talent (age 7) through her finale' on America's Got Talent The Champions (age 13) and all 130+videos in between. I enjoyed your reaction, Adelle! Angelina's 10 in this video of a rehearsal with the Norwegian national orchestra. She rewrote the lyrics to be more proper with her age. She frequently does this. She also makes her own arrangements. We "angels" need to get you completely hooked..this is her arrangement for her cover of Screamin' Jay Hawkins 1956 original "I Put a Spell on You". You can see her writing instructions for HER band and the bandleader reading them. She obviously made the candle of Hawkins herself because that's not something that you are going to find at any local shop. This was the 1st time with Angelina? Wow!
You immediately captured Angelina's essence and modus operandi. She respects the song, makes it her own by changing it a little bit but with her unique voice, tone, emotion, etc. She often ends up with a better version than the original.
No one alive now can do that, no one alive has that voice. You will see what I mean after 10-12 songs spanning a few musical genres because, of course, she can sing anything at all.
I don't want to compare her to other legendary singer, but gotta point out her cover Million Years Ago, and Someone Like You equal, if not exceed, Adele. 'Stay' is equally magnificient.

Just watching this now. It's the second time I've watched your reaction to a singer. (First was Dimash singing SOS. As you know I loved that one.) Anyway I really hoped your first reaction to this angel would be I Put a Spell On You - the black and white studio version - but oh well. Looks that it came second. Will watch it after this one. Liked, of course.
After I Put a Spell On You I'll skip ahead to your reaction to Bohemian Rhapsody. You'd seen more than a half dozen videos of her by then but I'm sure it'll still blow you away. That said, you HAVE to react to her singing Somebody You Loved on that AGT Champions show. She is accompanied by a wonderful young violinist and a woman that tells stories by moving sand around. Taken as a whole it's a beautiful experience that shouldn't be missed.
I also noticed you have not reacted to AJ's audition on Norways Got Talent. When you do, and you must, be sure to watch her reaction to the two women judges when they compliment her. She lights up in a heart melting one-front-tooth smile. She genuinely didn't know whether the judges would put her through or not. this song is not in my top 50 from Angelina,and I love Amy...Usually Angelina's covers are on par or better than the original.This one is an exception in my opinion.Still fabulous.
