  • A little "Fun" time in the shop for me. Had to debug an old Tillotson Carb, essentially a common carburetor for saws of that ear and even older ones like my Homelites. The needle sticks. They won't start, and you essentially have to replace that stuff as they usually have been damaged. Might be a byproduct of the alcohol in the gas even thought for the most part I use non-ethanol fuel

G'day from Northern Ireland. Another nice video Walt. Its a timely look at your 70E as I have two sitting beside my bench to check over. I have some carb kits sitting to hand and a new piston and caber ring to go into one of them. I'm looing forward to part 2

Makita makes some good stuff! My brother who is very hard on tools uses them and he loves them. Milwaukee guy myself but you have to appreciate quality when you see it.

As much as I like the old stuff, I have to say electronic ignition systems was the best thing to ever happen to small engines.

Yup I agree and the Autotune stuff is at the same level of reliability despite the saws they sit on at time...:)

Side note. Just got my G660 I have been talking to you about. They upped the game on shipping. mine was full of air pillows to keep the box from getting crushed.

I am hoping to pit my 70e (69cc) against my mac 6-10 (70.7 cc) soon and see which cuts better. The Jonsereds is definitely heavier and does not have a manual oiler, but with 170 psi it's going to be a good match up.

Dolmars can be found as "Junk Pile Builds" like any pro level saw....you with your capabilities will eventually end up with the pro logger connections and access to piles of worn out saws...just a matter of time. Build then flip, build up resources for any saw u want.

@@afleetcommand just noticed it doesn't have the gasket in between the head and the carburetor. That may play a roll on the issue maybe.
