A friend gave me this great lantern. I realized it would be the perfect opportunity to display the Christmas tree and presents I made last year.
In this video, I add lighting, make a wood floor, add trim, make a tree stand out of a glue cap and button, wrap some presents and show you how to make miniature gift bows using ribbon and a thumbtack. You can also use paper if you don't have ribbon.

Thanks for this tutorial. I bought a lantern to turn into some kind of scene but I haven't decided yet. I've called it my "Mood light" project as I want it to lift my mood whenever I look at it, so it's probably gonna be filled with flowers and lights and cute little animal miniatures hehe.

I stumbled into your videos quite by accident yesterday and my eyes are blurry from watching so many. Your techniques for aging things are just fascinating. I make the diy kits that I only discovered a few months ago, but would love to branch out into creating my own “masterpieces”. I did modify one kit I purchased with a Christmas theme and it was so much fun to make it my own. I will be watching all your videos. Oh! and I must add that I love to see your gluey fingertips and to see that you admit to little mistakes. You are very authentically you. Catherine

😂 I cringe when I see my fingers when I'm editing but that's just how it'll be. I keep my nails short because otherwise they're caked with paint etc underneath.
Lots of us start out making kits and go from there. That's a great trajectory.

Could the bows be made the same way only use a needle and thread instead of glue? After layering the bows on the needle, pull thread through and go back down with the thread to tie on the bottom. I’d be impatient for the glue to dry too! 😊 Thank you for sharing your talents!

Hahaha I can so relate to your impatience waiting for the glue to dry. Unless it's super glue it just never dries fast enough! Today I ended up with more papier mache stuck to my fingers and my fingers glued together, than there was on the wee fake wood door I was trying to make. Even using the hair drier trying to dry it faster, it wasn't drying fast enough lol

    • @queencityminis

After the holiday things go on sale for 80% off, so I've have picked up some lanterns in the past and only used them for candles. But I like this idea! If you put it on your mantle or table you should show us a pic of it in place! :)

It reminds me of a gazebo you'd find in the city park. Maybe a present that looks like a toy, like a teddy bear, doll, train, kite, drums, tricycle, red wagon, wooden horse or something like that. Stockings? Not sure where you would hang them.
