+Lycras it is not the ring goes south at the beginning. İt is "Foundations of stone". And in my opinion your post is useless. Read the discription. And also unless you dont write the exact names of songs, it is more useless. Sorry mate.
You only missed The Rings Goes South and The Nazgul Theme. The one you thought was The Ring Goes South is actually called Foundations Of Stone, and the one you thought was The Nazgul Theme is actually just the Rohan Theme. Edit: I missed one. The one you thought was Into The West is actually at the end of a song called Journey To The Grey Havens.
indeed, the best soundtrack in the history of music and movie industry. I listen to it all the time, it makes you feel like you are in middle earth. beautiful composition.
That' s a masterpiece! Excellent work! Well done mate! It traveled me from the Shire, through the forests of Eriador and the falls of Rivendell, up to the white tops of the misty mountains and back down to the woods of Mirkwood... Great, great job!
even sauron listens to this song and forget that there is a thing called ring and just keeps on listing the song until frodo comes to mount. doom to destroy the ring and then he finds out that only way to destroy sauron is not destroying the ring but stopping this music from playing good work keep it up. thumbs up.
The Rohan music is so powerful and moving....to know that as a people they may be wiped out and are outnumbered, but against all odds, they would stand and fight until the last man for the greater good.
OMG! I feel so old and young at the same time; remembered watching this years ago in the cinema and listening it for the first time--gives me the feels! Thanks for reminding me with this arrangement.
I've watched LOTR over 5 times and the one thing that I can never get bored of is the soundtrack. This piece that you've come up with is simply amazing. Thumbs up :D
You played it with a lot of emotion , and that's what I love ...Because Music misses guys like you , who give feelings and emotions while playing ... Thank you so much for this !
This is probably the most amazing and accurate LOTR medley I have ever heard!!!! It's just beautiful! Is there any chance you would make the sheet music available for others to learn?
Wow, this is just amazing, the way you play it on piano even contributes to beauty of these songs. Sorry that I ask such a stupid question, but what is the exact title of the song around 3:53? It's magical. :) I'm a huge fan of movie soundtracks like Harry Potter, LOTR, Narnia and Amelie. And I love how you described what these songs mean to you and that LOTR is a part of your childhood as well. :D I'm really impressed by that kind of people that don't just play the music with their hands, but live it while they play, and this is noticeable in your playing. It's one of my goals as well,, although I am more harpist than a pianist right now and never put much energy into piano playing when I was a child taking piano lessons. :/ I deeply regret it right know and wish I could play like this.
Thanks very much for your kind words. The piece you mention is basically one of the main themes to the first movie, used to great effect in the track 'The Ring Goes South' and 'Many Meetings'. It is a theme that does not have a title as such but is used throughout the score/movie.
This was simply beautiful. I usually don't post comments, but I could really tell you were playing with your heart and I wanted to say you're really inspiring! Thank you!
So epic! Could you make a Star Wars as 'The Imperial March' or some of the most famous? It would be pretty epic for me and for all. Regards Mark!! And greetings from Spain
Amazing music! Luckily I had the opportunity to hear and see it live in orchetra and meet Mr. Howard Shore himself! awesome experience. are there any sheets for this? please help! I play for 10 years now
This is just fantastic. I've heard Taylor Davis, Lindsey Stirling, ThePIanoGuys, etc. Yours is just as good as theirs if not better. The only place where I feel that you might get a bit left out is that they use a backing track/other supporting instruments. I feel that the strings that you've used in the background do really help support your piano hugely.. Anyway.. Great Work and KEEP IT UP!!! :) :)
I NEED THESE SHEETS!!!!!! Mr. Fowler I know you are probably very busy, but that being said i would like to put in a request for the sheets to the amazing piece above. It would be much appreciated. I have been a subscriber for a while now, and this would just be the best thing to happen if you made said sheets. Thank you for your time, John Andrews
***** if you have a smartphone/tablet, you can access it for free. If you download the Scribd app, you can view all free documents. the one thing you need to do is create an account and to do that you don't need to pay any subscripion or something similar
You guys, although there are a ton of both official and unofficial piano sheets out there of the LotR music. Be aware that most of what Mr. Fowler is playing here is not on those sheets as this is more his interpretation of the music played by the entire orchestra with it's multiple parts..
Listening to this has brought back so many memories of those years LOTR was in cinema... it was such a magical time to go to the movies... My imagination went WILD, I was OBSESSED with Middle Earth. Reading your notes for this piece here made me fall in love with you a little bit. It's wonderful to hear this music that's coming directly from your heart.
meszszs What do you mean "was" obsessed. Me and my mother watch all the LOTR movies twice a year, with the Hobbit movies, and read the Hobbit, LOTR and the Silmarillion regularly.
fram3spersec0nd Personally I disagree. Whilst it could easily hold it's own by itself , personally I find that the strings actually enhances the music.
just so awesome just so awesome just awesome just sooos s so os os os sos os os osos sos os osos sos os osososs ssooooo awesome... way cool I like all your videos. I fall asleep to these before I go to bed.
Mark, I know you've made sheets for many of your other covers - are you ever considering ever doing that with this arrangement? Many people would be very happy if you did :)
Is it possible if someone could put timestamps linking the different songs on this video? Thanks a lot! Great video by the way, really encapsulates the whole feel of the movies
i've been trying to do this since I saw this video for the first time, but am having some troubes with the cords (probably am a little unexperienced).... Have you ever considered putting the notes out for this? I would love if you did
formerdave94 I found some sheets on Scribd, to help with some parts, but most of it was by ear, I think Evenstar is on there for example and a couple of others, they are the official sheets and shouldnt technically be on there due to copyright of course.
alcaeru.weebly.com/the-lord-of-the-rings.html may help you, there is a centralization of many transcriptions and an amazing "The Fellowship of the Ring Complete Transcription" ;)
I cannot get over how amazingly good you are with the piano. I want to compose music for movies one day, and you are an inspiration. Absolutely beautiful.
depends on the amount of notes etc.. of course, but not long at all, basic themes can take minutes, full arrangements days on and off, weeks though to perfect the performance probably.
There were at least four different parts of this that gave me full-body goosebumps. Beautiful arrangement, beautifully played, beautiful music, beautiful movies :')
Your playing abilities are marvelous. But I'm sure it would sound even better without the strings. Just piano. Why? Because the strings are cut off in the same way as the piano, which is understandable, because it's the machine doing that, not the man. The strings should have been another track. For that you just need four arms. If you only got two, I'm convinced that piano without those strings sounds a lot more professional. It's not your playing, man. Don't get me wrong. Carry on with the good stuff.
Thanks for your feedback, I do understand where you are coming from, it is something that divides opinions, and I do agree with you in a way, it's just at the time to me it felt right to use strings, I think it's because when playing it live the effect is very different to how the actual recorded sound is.
It's an old roland model - hp507, newer models have since been released, lx17 is the current best model they do, but comes at a cost, too expensive in my opinion.
I'm impressed because half of the tracks you covered in this suite are rarely touched on by others. Really shows how musically versatile you are. Good jawb.
your piano skills are wonderfull, but could it be, that your cair is a bit to high and you should take a lower one (i am not a pro, but it looks a bit unconfortable...)
I play piano, and I can assure you that his bench is perfectly adjusted, the arm have to make a 90 degree angle. If you don't do that, playing become super hard since the palm of the hand is hitting the notes when you play fast
Your piano playing is magical! I find it astounding how you can accurately translate an entire orchestra to a single keyboard. Keep it up, you're amazing!
9 minutes of multiple eargasms Q_Q I don´t know how to suggest a song, but in case you read this, how about a cover of Star wars Throne room theme? /watch?v=ca6Es9Q9fT0
Wow, beyond stunning, I can't find words... Actually 'the riders of rohan' always was my favourite theme of the whole trilogy. It still gives me chills down my spine! Thank you for sharing this masterpiece with us!
WOW Mark this is AWESOME! Very impressive arrangement and performance. And I love the underlying strings. Adds just enough depth and texture. Nice job.
Simply beautiful. I have the extended soundtrack for all three films and they are my most prized possessions. You sir, did that wonderful music justice
You probably get compliments all the time but here's another sincere one from a new fan. I started playing 2 years ago. A 16 year old kid with no prior lessons, I sat down at our upright piano and began teaching myself. Since I can't read sheet music, I rely on people showing me how to play certain songs. That's where you are the best role model. Seeing you play (not sure if you're using the "official notation" but it sounds beautiful and is the best motivation and guide to my practice.
LOTR fan as well, and I love the Rohan/Gondor themes. So much power and emotion behind the music. Thank you for bringing such musical beauty to life again.

One thumbs up for the playing, one thumbs up for the music, and one to rule them all for playing without sheet music!
When you play a song from the heart it resonates with your soul. No sheet music required to remember it.
