Smashing Pumpkins are one of those nostalgia bands. Whir, Obscured, and Starla are part of the soundtrack of a long lost past. Hell, all the songs are amazing. Just get rid of the cover tracks and combine LA Dolly Vita and Spaced together, and you have an eleven track kick ass album that sounds more like Gish yet has its own sound. Siamese Dream is a great album but I secretly like Gish a little better and this album.
As an old-school fan that traded bootleg cassette tapes in the mail back in the day, this is incredible! I've never seen a great live recording of Whir.
Omg LOVE this song! Love this album! It's by far, my FAVORITE Smashing Pumpkins album to date!!! Thanks for posting this! The nostalgia is strong with this one...
Smashing Pumpkins... Billy Corgan.... you are my Buddha... When my first love broke up with me... I listened to this song non-stop on my Picsces Iscariot yellow vinyl 12" album..........that was 24 years ago... I still want to cry when I hear this song.. guess you never get over the things that mean the most to you... Just like Billy Corgan will ALWAYS be my music GOD.. I met him in Jan 96 at Z100 in NY....kindest person you could ever dream of.. and that was at the peak of his fame...
William Corgan has said that there won't be a 90's Smashing Pumpkins reunion and that after his next release it might very well be the last. He has this view of his fans that seems to be narrow and bitter at times. It's true that many fans want a return to their former selves. There is a market in nostalgia. It is nice when you travel great lengths to see one of your favorite bands and after paying hundreds on tickets and merchandise, to be able to watch them perform some of their memorable songs. As a musician myself I understand that it's from my own ambition within to create new music and to evolve. You want these songs to be heard. It becomes so monotonous and tiresome to be a hits only band. Many fans embrace The Pumpkins new music but would like a balance on what the original spirit of the band was blended with the trekking of new frontiers. Many oldschool fans such as my self respect the newer music and actually do understand where your coming from. I get the sacred feelings over your music and why youre protective of your endeavors. No one wants to be painted into a corner. It not about the direction of future generations. Mr. Corgan it's a crusade to keep rock alive and to remember why we fell in love with that raw power that had us supercharged in our adolescence. Don't you have anymore fight left in you? Your signature guitar sound with the overall SP sound has had such an impact on my own sound that if you don't want to carry the torch I will gladly up my efforts. The only trouble is I don't have Jimmy :)
Not really liking the Jeff solo at the end...too fast and out of sync with the rest of the song. Buuuut I wouldn't want to be nostalgic and suggest it was better with James.
never been a big fan of jeffs , his solos are always very standard and almost predictable and often quite inappropriate for my taste. sorry i know it's harsh but the pumpkins demand more
Best song on Pisces Iscariot and one of the best Smashing Pumpkins songs ever.
I agree!
agree...song tied to alot of nice memmories...oh i wish i could go bak

fer sure, it's kinda crazy it took 'em over 20 years just to play it live
Certainly in the running. Top three for me easy.
This & Obscured are absolute gems from Pisces Iscariot. Both would have fit beautifully on Siamese Dream.
Jimmy's hits are so clean every single time. Such a fantastic drummer.
This song has a dreamy melancholic beauty.
im going to miss jeff 😢
I never thought I'd see James back with the band!
I know it's great
i don't think he thought it would happen either
As an old-school fan that traded bootleg cassette tapes in the mail back in the day, this is incredible! I've never seen a great live recording of Whir.
I wish there were some early live shows of them doing Whir
Omg LOVE this song! Love this album! It's by far, my FAVORITE Smashing Pumpkins album to date!!!

One of my fave songs on Pisces!
Está también Chamberlin!!!!! NO lo había visto WOOOOOOOOOW!!!
Not sure why this song always reminded me of the Peanuts gang. Charlie Brown, Snoopy, etc.
OMG, thank you!!!!!!
Best band of the 90s
The 2nd best song from Pisces Inscariot. The best song by far is Starla.

This is so great,, but how has it been 7 years already since Iha rejoined.. time, can you stop moving so quickly please?
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have 2 questions...why can't Billy see that his awkward angular singing style is shit and why the hell wasn't James playin that outro solo bit?
Tabs please ??? 🇫🇷
funny how someone just went through all these videos and disliked them all. :p
+Chris Kotra D'arcy probably... poor girl
+Chris Kotra Liam Gallagher, for sure hahaha
+Brandon Decarlo According to Alternative Nation she's healthy, off drugs, and playing music again!
+Jack Swift that's good to hear... Time heals
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
😭😭😭😭😭

+Cody S Agree - I'm not against change, I loved the backup vocals. But I'm so tired of listening to Jeff add soloing to songs.
It worked better in Nashville on Saturday. I was spellbound.
It's been ten years and I still consider him 'Diet James'.
@@christopherkuberski4511 LOL
I also got a great recording of this song during the Nashville concert a week later:

so true
Agree. His solos are a bit sterile.
I do miss Darcy still.
for fucks sake corgatron keep iha keep chamberlain get auf der maur and write a double retro album from scratch
Mike Anthony Even better, he has recently rekindled his friendship with D’arcy.
Billy looking better here without the boomer goth fashion
that poor Jeff guy........looks like the Delta male .......Billy = Alpha James = beta......the other guy lol
Goddamit new guy!!! This is Smashing Pumpkins not Grateful Dead.......SMH
Clearly, you are familiar with the catalog…
