Do we all really know how fortunate we all are to have Bonnie in our musical lives? She has blessed me since 1972 and continues to be a force in the industry. In many ways, she has changed my life from the better.
OH how i miss hearing the steady output of musical, lyrical masterpieces of Randy Newman. His ability to reach right into the human heart cannot be described. I still regularly play the recording of his gorgeous score for 'Ragtime" which rips me apart after all these years. btw...he and Bonnie are magical together.
I rarely hear his songs on the radio in the UK and I have loved his songs since Simon Smith and his dancing bear .. Bonny Raitt what a musician and what a voice.
Hello Kristi : What a beautiful choice you made in selecting this piece for your wedding. Just a small and gentle correction…I believe you meant to say that you walked down the “aisle,” (rather than “isle” ) to this beautiful song. But of course I can’t be sure. If you were married on an island (in Hawaii, for example) , perhaps you really meant to say “isle,” but that could be an awfully long walk.🤓. Whatever the case, wishing you and your best friend a lifetime of joy and happiness. Congrats and cheers to you both!
I have been with Bonnie from the beginning and don’t plan to divorce her anytime soon. But seriously, she is uniquely extraordinary. She moves me every single time I hear her sing!❤
I was fortunate to meet her when she allowed me on her bus in St. Petersburg fl. But I was too intoxicated to properly sing Angel from Montgomery. One of my Raitt favorites. Please apologize to her because I was so embarrassed and I respect her way too much
What a wonderful synergy they have together, and performance they blessed us with!!! Saw Randy doing "Home" solo a couple days ago on Austin City Limits, and have been craving his live performances ever since :). To find him and my most favorite performer doing this special piece together as a wonderfully special, truly delightful treat. Made me cry like a winsome little baby in my Mama's loving arms ..
Just watched Randy sing this on PBS solo. Keep an eye out it might air again. This is Bonnie & Randy performing it together, too of my fav's together. How beautiful!!!!
What a memory trip!...saw Randy Newman in concert--circa ''72, way before he was famous--at a 200 seat auditorium in college (Carbondale IL). His opening act: Bonnie Raitt. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing such a beautiful memory. Given how well-respected and well-regarded Newman and Raitt became, you can look back and pat yourself on the back for having made a wise decision to not pass up on what turned out to be a great opportunity. It’s nice for you to to be able to look back and say, “I hit the jackpot there!” Thanks again for sharing your experience.
Newman and Raitt. One of the best lyricists on the planet matched with one of the most sensuous of voices. I think I just wet myself. Darn it. Clean up crew, please!
Faust is about the darkest thing I've ever heard. The context of this song really adds another layer too it. That whole album is gut wrenchingly bleak (and often really funny). I wish the stage version of Faust had been filmed. I'd love to see it.
This song - this musical - had a tryout at La Jolla playhouse back in the 90's - hilarious story, brilliant music. It went to the Goodman in Chicago after this, but sadly, nevermade it to Broadway. It was quite irreverent as only R.Newman can be - but the music survives in a great CD recorded with a slew of famous people singing all the tunes form the show - B.Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Elton John, Don Henley, and others. All the tunes are great!
@nolej that would be L Ronstadt on the album, I actually saw opening night of the opera Faust. I t starred the next door neighbor from MARRIED WITH CHILDREN as the devil < It honestly needs a reworking by a playwright , just dint come off
I wonder how much her dad taught her about singing in the early years. Obviously she's learned a lot since then, just wondering if he gave her a good start.
Bonnie! You fill that place my seeking soul has been searching for! I love you! And Thank you.💘💖💘💖💘💖

FROM the better???!!
(Freudian slip).
Bonnie Raitt has been so good for so long. A true great .
Exactly how I feel about my wife of 36 years. Thank you Bonnie and Randy.
This song finally has true meaning for me.
Feels like I'm all the way back where I belong.
-- Thank you, James
My wife turned me on to Bonnie in the early 70's. We saw her, twice, with James Taylor a few years ago, and she was excellent. She is a treasure.

She's more than beauty..... She's a painting hanging in an ancient castle...... She's the voice in the wind...... She's a gift.......
