Very informative thank you. Always confused me as to what the situation was with regulators on gas bottles. Now I understand thanks to your video. Much appreciated! Thank you
Thank you for the important info with regards to the (colour coded) valve sizes. That's why my black capped (20mm) cylinder valve won't connect to my 21mm regulator....! New 20mm regulator ordered. Thank you.
Thankyou so much much easier way of putting it in we had the first one using both hands I was struggling with the lever click button went on straight away my dad said very well done video
I noticed while you were talking, that a Kampa mobile gas heater was having it's annual service. The procedure is, with the safety guard removed, blow all dust and dirt from the radiant ceramic plaques with compressed air, then run compressed air through the back of the pilot to blow out all dust'n'dirt preventing a yellow tip and sooting of the radiant ceramic plaques, increasing the likelihood of carbon monoxide poisoning. All mobile heaters regardless of type (radiant / catalytic / living flame), and indeed all LPG appliances, should receive an annual service to keep them safe at all times. That has lead me to a thought, could HandyHire offer such servicing for mobile heaters at a reasonable price? Basic service about £40 (blow dust off ceramic plaques or burners and burner air intake on Manhattan and Provence heaters and blow dust and dirt from the pilot and air intake of that pilot). A complete service at £50, all the above, but with additional replacement of the regulator and tubing.
Hi, brill video. We've got the first one you showed, the 21mm regulator, press the button in to release the valve, but ours has been sat outside for probably over 2 years. We moved house recently and had a friend who tried to remove the regulator so we could transport the gas canister safely. It turned out it seemed to be seized in place, they couldn't get it off so they just removed the tube and made sure it wasn't leaking. I can see that the regulator seems to be mounted slightly off centre and tilted to one side. The lever to turn gas on and off won't move and I think that's because it's linked to the release button which is either pressed all the way in or all the way out. That button doesn't seem to want to budge. I'm guessing the regulator is half way removed and causing the release button to lock in turn locking the valve lever. I'm wondering if you.habe any advice. I've tried using just the strength of my hand to try and press it back on, but no joy. I was thinking of giving it a few taps with a heavy rubber hammer to see if I can knock it back on to the canister and then have a go at releasing it properly. What do you think?
You need orange LPG hose as it is designed to be used with the gas and associated appliances. You can purchase this from Calor Centres and some Calor Gas Dealers which will re-open in April. Regulators are not generally supplied with a hose so in that case, no.
If you buy second hand LPG appliances powered by domestic readily available gas cylinders, it's a good idea to get them checked out by a Calor Gas dealer or Gas-Safe qualified LPG engineer before you connect up and use them. Yellow flames and / or yellow tipped flames and soot mean danger and can even cause carbon monoxide poisoning. Butane and propane gas cylinders should produce a blue flame with no yellowing, yellow appearance or visible black sooting, with a mobile heater the pilot flame should be predominantly blue / green in colour burning quietly without a sooty yellow tip and slight black soot marks on the heater plaques or burn completely yellow with black sooty deposits on the plaques / living flame heater logs / glass front etc, however, on living flame mobile heaters, it is normal for the blue flames to produce a very slight yellow tip at the top of the flame.
Thank you from 3 little ladies who have a non calor gas regulator and couldn’t work out how to remove it to change our bottle !! Thank you again.
You just save my life sir. I got back from school and there was no gas to cook. THANK YOU SO MUCH 💙😊
