    I can't believe it. I could not find out how to set up my Canon flash and camera so the flash unit becomes a slave. I spent hours reading both manuals, went to a camera store to get help, watched other instructional videos on the web, and tried numerous trial settings, and still could not get it to work. After 2 minutes watching this video ... IT WORKED! So incredibly simple I feel foolish, but really happy I can finally move forward. Thanks so much

    Just for clarification, in the current Revel series, neither the EOS M50 or the Rebel EOS T7 work with a remote flash without a trigger.

    • @DigitalGojaUSA
      @DigitalGojaUSA  3 года назад

      Hello, Matt Haverly. That's correct. The Canon EOS M50 and the Rebel T7's built-in flash does not have the capability of triggering an off-camera Canon speedlite using their propitiatory optical trigger system. You would have to step up to either the T7i or the T8i for that capability.

      Hi, you need to disable the internal flash in the settings.

    • @tomasvelecky1185
      @tomasvelecky1185 4 года назад +1

      Yes it is supposed to work like that, once you set your flash to optical slave as in the video, the external flash fires ONLY when another flash fires (the red light on the front part of the flash indicates that it is searching for the "light fired"), that triggers the external flash to fire. You can partially eliminate the extra "light" from your camera's flash by setting the flash power output of your camera to low value (of say 1/128) that way the resulting image will not be affected much.

      @Raed Saeed The Canon Speedlite 430 EX III RT works with a proprietary radio system and optical wireless transmission system. At the moment, there are no Canon cameras that feature a built-in radio controller. You would need to use either an additional 430EX III RT, 600-EX II RT, or ST-E3 RT transmitter. To work with it's optical system you would need to have either the T7i, T8i, 70/80/90D, or the 7D series camera.

      Hello, Matt Haverly. While the EOS M50 doesn't have the capability there are a variety of Canon cameras like the Rebel T6I (featured in the video), EOS 60D,70D,80D,90D that can trigger the 430 EX series and 600 EX series flashes using its pop-up flash. If you are looking to trigger your Canon flash off-camera, Canon offers the Speedlite EL-100 flash, which is an affordable compact flash that would act as the sender.
