    Hears a great cure. Cook some oat meal put it on the rash as hot as you can stand it, BUT not to hot or you'll burn your skin. Let it cool for about 5 or 10 minutes. Then wash it off with cold water. The itch is gone forever!

      I took your suggestion but mixed it with the suggestion in the video (vinegar, honey, and baking powder) and YOU AND OP ARE LIFESAVERS.

    i hear that purified clay also helps drain the blisters.
    bentonite clay is already in calamine lotion, but some people swear by making a paste of the calamine with more of the purified clay added and just keep on changing out the clay when the paste dries up. ive seen the results, it does seem to work.

    There is a product called Domboro, you can get it at the drugstore tho you really have to look for it. (or amazon). It makes a paste and really takes the itch away for a long while. Hope this helps someone.

    When I worked at McDonald's there was an old timer who came in with very bad poison ivy on his legs. The next da it was almost gone ( invisible). Asked what he did, he said he sat in a tub of hot water and had added a cup of Clorox Bleach. I tried diluted bleach water on my arm when I had poison ivy and it really worked. No rash No itch.

    • @HearthandDome
      @HearthandDome  7 лет назад +2

      I've heard several people swear by bleach. Personally, I won't use the stuff. Blessings!

    When my skin is affected by poison ivy poison oak or sumac I take a hot soapy Rag and scrub that area down real good and then I apply isopropyl alcohol to the affected areas and around It Might Sting for a while but it sure drives up the areas and your problems will be over soon

  • @barryjanis
    @barryjanis 3 года назад +1

    If you can wash your skin where it was exposed to PI
    with a lot of soap & water within one hour, you might NOT
    get the dreaded , itching , blisters and rash. Timing and effectiveness of removing the sap / oil from your skin, will
    determine your outcome.

    I have the rash and I have tried pulverized oatmeal [looks like flour], mixed with baking soda, coconut oil, and lotion. Didn't work. I've poured alcohol and it helped a little. I've tried apple cider vinegar. Didn't work. I'm taking benedryl it helps some. Went to the doctor and got a steroid shot and I'm waiting for it to start working. It is so bad one eye is nearly swollen shut. In the past I've used very hot water, Dawn soap or lye soap followed with alcohol. Didn't work this time.

    • @TheDogDad

      Misconception: Blister fluid or drainage can “spread” the rash. Fact: The blister fluid, and any drainage from a poison ivy affected site, does not contain the plant's toxin, urushiol, and this fluid will also not “spread” the rash.
