The extra data stores more than just save data. It stores DLC items, classes, and more. A good example is Frederick's Pebble from the Before Awakening DLC. That item is directly added to the extra data, model, text entry, and item data at a time. This is why more recent fates mods directly build the DLC into the mod itself, so we don't accidentally replace anything from the DLC. There's about 40 DLC Exclusive items such as DLC only royal weapons, or things like the Vanguard Brand! This is also how old custom content used to be added. It was just shoved into the extra data, before ROMFS loading was more widespread. ExtraData is also used in Awakening and Shadows of Valentia for their DLC! It's why all 3 games take longer to load if you have all DLC Content.
They really need to stop making full on japanese exclusives in games they know they'll have world wide They have online download for a reason.
