I love this song............................still groovin' out 2 dis shit.....Gloria Gaynor is the original disco QUEEN, and there ain't no doubt about it.
GREAT MEMORIES COMING FROM THE BIG APPLE AT ROSELAND BALL IN MANHATTAN ISLAND..........I SAW GLORIA GAYNOR IN PERSON AT THAT LOCATION.........!!!!!!!! awesome show under lights..
aquí en mi ciudad, cerca de ciudad de México, estuvo Gloria Gaynor y cantó en un club año de 1976-1980, maravillosa voz, hermosa mujer, original danza. Perfecta¡¡
Great. Did you know the original was from !!! 1951 !!!! by Les Paul & Mary Ford, with the same title. And if you listen to that version... you can hear the discosound of the 1950's.
seguimos disfrutando, de nuestros artistas, aunque muchos ya los elimino el mk ultra, y que voces aunque nuestros hermanos de color la mayoria tienen una voz envidiable, quien sabe a que se debera.
@pimbrokken Even the Les Paul / Mary Ford version is also a re-make, but the most popular version by far. The song was orginally written in 1938 by Nancy Hamilton and Morgan Lewis for the Broadway show Two for the Road and sung by Alfred Dake and Frances Comstock. The first recorded version was done by Benny Goodman in 1940. Ella Fitzgerald and many others recorded it. It was also featured in the Matthew Broderick movie Biloxi Blues.
"How High The Moon," released as a single on Gaynor in late 1975, proved a rare instance where the edited MGM 45 version was actually better than the longer version on the album ("Experience"). There's exceptions both ways, of course -the redone "Y.M.C.A." by Village People is outstanding over the single- but there do exist occasions where "extended disco mix" took what had been an enjoyable record and only turned it into an endurance test.
esta super cantante si tiene canciones verdaderamente dignas de toda una estrella internacional lastima que hoy en doa solo se escuche musica de desecho que dura unos momentos y se va al bote de basura
@VValkyrie "I lost ALL my LPs in Katrina" So sad about that, I know what it feels like. My country, Liguria, is often plagued by floods. I hope you found a room after that shame, and I wish you to find some nice Lps in the future

For better or worse, it feels similar to the 1951 Les Paul/Mary Ford version ... with "modern" beetz, of course, ha, ha!
entered Cashbox Nov 29, 1975
@mrapina Donna Sumer stayed far more famous than Gloria though. Donna still fills up arenas, Gloria lost her vocal ability. I love them both though.
