Best Photographers? Best manipulators or photoshopers maybe. Yes their work is beautiful but not the way i was expecting from "best photographers". 10 Years ago it was much more honorable and hard to be a best photographer. To see and capture not everyone see, not capture everything that everyone see with photoshop and fancy lenses...
Every single one of these guys save two or three is a high profile fashion and beauty/portrait photographer with a massive team and budget to back them up. Effectively what you are saying with this list is that big money makes you a good photographer. I have personally worked with a few of these people and i have close friends who have worked with others. Most of them are good because of their team. The images you are showing were not made by the photographer, they are made by the hair and make up team, the lighting techs and assistants, and the art directors for the magazines they were shot for.
+Skip ad I think you have an interesting take on this. But I think separating he two is somewhat foolish. Photography and post production go hand in had. They have sonar the invention of photography. the dark room was a place of manipulation and choices made to effect the final image. As we consistently push these creative boundaries the line is ever blurred. But a great photographer is a great photographer. Equally angreat retoucher is a great retoucher. Put them together with preproduction, lighting, makeup, hair, wardrobe the perfectly chosen location (if landscape photographer then waiting for the right light and setting up in the perfect location), the correct lens, camera, film stock and everything else that goes with it. The photographer clicks. It's great. Then it goes into post production, culling, choosing the final image, retouch grading and mastering. Then choosing the delivery format maybe print here we choose paper and inks that suite or digital we choose the monitor at dogsled display. As you can see there are countless ways images are manipulated every single time. Photoshop is just a single small piece.
@@clearlyed Darkroom manipulation has always been a thing, yes, but there is a line that divides photo manipulation and photography. Both are there own antonymous mediums and both are great. When you start adding or removing important objects in post production, it then becomes a different art. In fact, it's disrespectful to treat digital imaging artists as their own entity.
Not sold on this list I am afraid. It is way too fashion and portrait heavy to be a general list and the landscape / travel stuff you do include just seems a bit random. Be better if you just said it was your favourite fashion photographers and dropped the rest.
+Sion Hannuna sorry you thought this list of photographers was somewhat skewed. It was definitely made with honesty in the fact that these are the actual people o take time to look at and be inspired by. You are right though there was a lot of fashion photographers. I guess K just see a lot more in there work that fashion. I see creativity, angles lighting and clear style. The fashion is just how they get paid. Thanks for watching though. It means a lot.
I completely agree regarding fashion photography giving huge artistic license. Right now not doing shoutouts on IG as i really don't have many followers but might do in the future.
I agree. To much fashion/portrait photographers for my taste. The photographers I think deserve a look into as an inspiration are Thomas Heaton, Nick Page, Brandan van Son and Ben Horne. Maybe for your next list of landscapes/travel photographers ;)
Let me add a few of my favorites. Gregory Crewdson, Saul Leiter, Fred Herzog, Elliott Erwitt, Stephen Shore, Henri Cartier-Bresson, René Burri and Todd Hido. Just a few....what do you think?
I just checked out Andrew T Kearns work and what a wonderful depth he his. Beautiful. Happy you enjoyed my best photographers in the world list but I fear I may now have to make another one of these lists.
Dmario Henderson not hard to take "travel photos" he's not a photographer. He's a guy who bought a camera and goes places with his parents money and takes mediocre pictures with no composition then throws an ugly vsco filter on it.
I used to think fashion photography was just boring photos, then i discovered Helmut Newton, then Richard Avedon, and now i'm sorry i even thought fashion could be boring!
+Matthieu Dandoy I think we have all done that with the best fashion photographers. At first we think of boring clothing shot in a catalogue but then we realize these are some of the best advertising and creative photographers out there. Happybyou enjoyed my top photographers list.
+Hal E just click on the link in the description for the photographers website and you be able to see loads of examples of their work there. It's really great to fall in love with a photograph or photography style to be inspired. I lived making this best photographers in the world list for that reason.
+Nadie Quintero that is a really great idea to do list of photographers but do it by catagory. I gues today's category was , who ed gregory thinks the wolds best photographers are. Hahahaha.
+Marcel Bakker thanks so much. I am just trying a few new things to see what sticks. Happy you enjoyed this top photographers list. It was fun making it.
Most of the photographers you chose are "studio photographer" and work in very bubble environment. You should have selected street photographers like Steve McCurry, Sebastião Salgado etc
Photos in color thank you for the inspiring videos of adobe photoshop. It helped me make some money off canvas prints with your hdr tutorial video. For you to help people become am/pro is amazing and I hope that one day I can pass your knowledge to others. I wish more success to your channel.
Max Rive, Dany Eid, Joel Tjintjelaar, Elia Locardi, Daniel Cheong, Chris Burkard, Dennis Ramos, Andrew Scrivani, Michael Shainblum. If you don't know these photographers, where have you been?
Wow. Thank you Ed. I love this video. As a want-to-be sports photographer, I have no stile. With this video I now want to be more creative. One of my photographers is Annie Leibovitz. Like the photographers in this video she also has a stile all her own. I've gotten INSPIRED. Thanks again
I came to realize im not mistaken your one of the photographers/"infosocialist" i want to follow aside from silly jumping but your infos are very much useful..yhanks bro keep it up....
I'd love to hear your opinion on photography like: ccseyes (Instagram) I know its a completely different type of photography and highly edited and also a bit dreamy. Are you a fan of that kind of style?
Super happy you are enjoying being inspired bu what i believe to be the worlds greater photographers. ccseyes definitely has some beautiful work. Lot of photo manipulation and crushing of the blacks. thank you so much for sharing i had not seen their work before.
+Houda H I wish you could too. I didn't realize how much work it would be but at the same time I didn't realize how inspired it would make me feel. Happybyou are enjoying my videos.
OK so I guess this video is six years old I tried to follow the first photographer listed and there’s a bunch of AI created images that he’s fascinated about after I followed him. I quickly unfollowed him and realized yeah that’s not the inspiration I want… some photographer that sold his soul to AI… Where’s the 2023 inspirational photography content? anybody?
While i really like his photography and have seen a lot of his work in person I just don't think he is on one the worlds best photographers. Worlds most wealthy and successful, yes. I think he is super skilled and maybe if i do a list of just landscape photographers he will be on that list.
What about Rodney Lough Jr. ? He was the teacher of Peter Lik. He has a similar style but much more natural and absolutely no work in lightroom of photoshop because he shoots with ARCA-SWISS cameras
hmmm.. i must say, i cant share the enthusiasm... some of the pictures are good, but could not agree, with all those superlatives... maybe i just dont get it...
There is no best...Photography is meant to be enjoyed, it is your own perspective. People you may think are great may be whatever to someone else. Like my personal favorite photographers are @rawfile, @trashhand, @13thwitness. Yet, I understand some people may not find their photos to be there type.
thank you so much for sharing and for not including Terry Richardson because i don't understand why is he famous! also i discovered yulia gorbachenko amazing beauty photographer
+butchpouka hahaha. That's the thing with photography it's an art form and therefore creates a lot of opinions. I love desiccating new photographers so I'll check her out for sure. Maybe add her to another photography list in the future.
Photos In Color 😂😂😂 great, i'll look forward to knowing your opinion about Yulia , i won't ask you about terry although i'm dying to have someone explain to me me WHY?! 😂😜😊
i think the overall appeal of Terry Richardson is that he has been fearless in giving a RAW and quick dirty look at celebrity and life. its a definite style though and just like all art it has lovers and haters. all opinions are valid I think. As for yulia gorbachenko..... wow. you are right what a stunning body of work. Again has a super consistent clear style that she is able to repeat. their is important to be successful. I just spent quite some time looking at her highly skilled work. Thank you for sharing.
Photos In Color you're most welcome, you know, she have professionals retouch her work, she always tag the , i thought retouching was part of the creative process! very interesting
+Dylan Hargraves this was made before he was famous. And also he is a great RUclips with definite talent but someone’s new fame wouldn’t automatically put them at the top of every list. I️ do love his content though.
David Lachapelle rocks but you are forgetting my local hero: drums .............. Mr. ANTON CORBIJN who ?? .................... yeah check him out and feel ashamed that you didn't knew him ;-) wipes the floor with those18
Both wonderful you tubers and creators but I had to go beyond just RUclips and while they are great they aren’t at the level of some of the others yet. But that does not reduce them in any way. That are both awesome.
whilst i like his work i feel his success is based around that one super famous photo. i do love his photojournalism work and may include him in a future worlds best photographers video.
I've never seen so many artificial, shallow, fashion-led, kitch photos crammed into one vlog. There are some seriously under-nourished, painfully thin women in the fashion industry. Someone should take them into a home and give them a square meal. These clips show just how cliche-ridden "professional" photography has become, and how it is dominated by the "creatives" (meaning completely UN-creative) in the advertising industry. Liquids splashed over products is THE most over-used, cliched shot in photo history. But anyway, thanks for the compendium of photoshop manipulations :)
If you want to take your photo-shop skills to the next level this video will inspire you but if you want to see great photographers then give this video a complete miss .
If you want to take you photo shop skills to the next level then this is the video for you BUT if you want to see great photographers then give this video a complete miss
+altern8ive I guess those guys aren't for everyone. I am definitely inspired by a wide range of photographers and creative people. I just wanted to share some of them. I hope some of my other worlds best photographers inspired you in some way.

He's just fascinated by fashion and beauty photography or he hasn't a clue of the best photographers.
This was beautiful, Ed. Thanks for sharing!! Added so much inspiration to my IG!
+Lavendaire nonworries. I definitely got super inspired while at making my list of top photographers.
when photoshop is called photogtaphy.
when editing rig anf software worth more then the camera and lens
+Skip ad I think you have an interesting take on this. But I think separating he two is somewhat foolish. Photography and post production go hand in had. Absolutely right. 👏
Exactly, anyone can get a cheap camera and process the hell out of it to make it look good, but its contrary to the real art of photography
Wow!! i love it!! thank you @photosincolor!!
Not sold on this list I am afraid. It is way too fashion and portrait heavy to be a general list and the landscape / travel stuff you do include just seems a bit random. Be better if you just said it was your favourite fashion photographers and dropped the rest.

Fashion photography allows for the most creativity and room for artistic license. Ed can I get a shoutout for my IG?? nerun119 :)
And Im a big fan of your channel btw....youve really taught me how to use LR! Ive been doing it wrong for all these years!

Andrew T Kearns... my fav landscape photographer
I just checked out Andrew T Kearns work and what a wonderful depth he his. Beautiful. Happy you enjoyed my best photographers in the world list but I fear I may now have to make another one of these lists.
Photos In Color haha that's true! You rock... Keep up the great videos!
Dmario Henderson not hard to take "travel photos" he's not a photographer. He's a guy who bought a camera and goes places with his parents money and takes mediocre pictures with no composition then throws an ugly vsco filter on it.
I would definetly add Sebastião Salgado to the list. He's in my opinion the most stuning B&W photographer of all time
Totally agree with you
I used to think fashion photography was just boring photos, then i discovered Helmut Newton, then Richard Avedon, and now i'm sorry i even thought fashion could be boring!
+Matthieu Dandoy I think we have all done that with the best fashion photographers. At first we think of boring clothing shot in a catalogue but then we realize these are some of the best advertising and creative photographers out there. Happybyou enjoyed my top photographers list.
These photographs look so generic and boring to my eye.
+Norman Mont which is why I love photography. It's an art form that everyone has a different option of. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
It's a bunch of capitalist photography
@@Wingo537 what
I disagree but u do u
yeeeeeessss mrbenbrown!!! my all time favorite together with Jeff Cable!!
+Alberto Rossi super happy you love this guy. It's definitely great following amazing travel photographers. It's easy to get inspired.

Some good stuff here! Love your RUclips channel my friend! I started photography when I came across Platons work. Guy is awesome!
Thanks for sharing. It has definitely inspired me.
Your selection is simply amazing! Thanks for sharing it!
Thank you for sharing. I'm interested in the picture 3.29 I would like to something similar but unfortunately I'm not able to find it. Can you help?
+Hal E just click on the link in the description for the photographers website and you be able to see loads of examples of their work there. It's really great to fall in love with a photograph or photography style to be inspired. I lived making this best photographers in the world list for that reason.
Great information 👍great photos
I'd love to see more videos like this, but like in each video looking at a certain photography style!
Awesome videos, really love them ❤🙌
+Nadie Quintero that is a really great idea to do list of photographers but do it by catagory. I gues today's category was , who ed gregory thinks the wolds best photographers are. Hahahaha.
For some structural photography definitely check out Michel Yamashita too.
What a great new angle too ur channel, just like it. Like the combination between tutorials and info, great job

Max Rive, Dany Eid, Joel Tjintjelaar, Elia Locardi, Daniel Cheong, Chris Burkard, Dennis Ramos, Andrew Scrivani, Michael Shainblum. If you don't know these photographers, where have you been?
Very good! Thank you!
I don't understand how come Annie Leibovitz isn't mentioned. She's an iconic photographer!
Wow. Thank you Ed. I love this video. As a want-to-be sports photographer, I have no stile. With this video I now want to be more creative. One of my photographers is Annie Leibovitz. Like the photographers in this video she also has a stile all her own. I've gotten INSPIRED. Thanks again
A real delight to the mind and the eyes. Thank you for this compilation Ed! ;)
Peter McKinnon is my favourite.
Ben Brown!! One of my all-time favorites. Have you seen his Arctic Visual Vibes video? It's absolutely insane!
Great video. Love that you shortlisted at instagram. Thank you.
I came to realize im not mistaken your one of the photographers/"infosocialist" i want to follow aside from silly jumping but your infos are very much useful..yhanks bro keep it up....

Any concert photographer???
I'd love to hear your opinion on photography like: ccseyes (Instagram) I know its a completely different type of photography and highly edited and also a bit dreamy. Are you a fan of that kind of style?

Lovely 😍
love your thoughts!
Good images with professional models.
Great list - thanks
My pleasure. I definitely wanted to create the best photography list I could. Not just for me but to hopefully inspire photographers around the world
Jesse Herzog also has a flickr and 500PX page
great information and i'm happy you are enjoying my worlds best photographers video (in my opinion).
Awesome content
10:03 is not Michael Kenna but Michael Levin. Nice list, found some good ones on there but otherwise not much diversity.
OK so I guess this video is six years old I tried to follow the first photographer listed and there’s a bunch of AI created images that he’s fascinated about after I followed him. I quickly unfollowed him and realized yeah that’s not the inspiration I want… some photographer that sold his soul to AI… Where’s the 2023 inspirational photography content? anybody?
what about Peter Lik?

Très bon travail et merci ce partage 🇬🇳 🇫🇷 ^^
+Moussa Rasé thanks so much and I'm happy you enjoyed looking at the worlds best photographers. (In my opinion).

Thanks for sharing! :-)
my pleasure. i feel my photography gets better the more i am inspired by the worlds best photographers. .
Unpopular opinion: Landscape and travel are genres that can be mastered far simpler than anything involving living subjects.
Paul Nicklen is my personal fave
adding a few wildlife photographers would've been nice
Fantastic!
+JorgiPie Critelli thanks so much. Happy you are enjoying this list of best photographers. I hope you feel inspired.
thank you so much for sharing and for not including Terry Richardson because i don't understand why is he famous! also i discovered yulia gorbachenko amazing beauty photographer

be real ..
Don't even conpare him to this guys
what about Erik Johansson?
You forgot William Klein, John Free and Sebastiao Salgado
In my opinion there was way too much attention given to portrait photography. I think there should be some landscape photographers
David Lachapelle rocks but you are forgetting my local hero:
drums .............. Mr. ANTON CORBIJN
who ?? .................... yeah check him out and feel ashamed that you didn't knew him ;-)
wipes the floor with those18
+RS hahahaha. Sorry I missed them. There work is pretty amazing I love it. They had a super strong style and that means a lot as a photographer.
I understand that you like those artists, but personally I don't like when someone 'sells' me stuff this way.
Not a single documentary photographer?? Where is Salgado, Nachtwey, Capa, Abbas etc.?
Where’s Peter McKinnon ? Where’s Chris hau ?
Both wonderful you tubers and creators but I had to go beyond just RUclips and while they are great they aren’t at the level of some of the others yet. But that does not reduce them in any way. That are both awesome.
Awesome video and great list! But it's called "composites", not "compositions".
Roger Ballen ? he is also very cool !
Steve McCurry ? not in this list :D
whilst i like his work i feel his success is based around that one super famous photo. i do love his photojournalism work and may include him in a future worlds best photographers video.
im surprised joe mcnally didnt make the list, but perhaps those are your best photographers in the world
Thomas heaton god of landscape photography
No Konsta Punkka, Michael Shainblum, Max Rive, Jude Allen, etc? C'mon, those guys are better than most here in my opinion..
Thanks a lot.....
My pleasure and I hope you were somewhat inspired by my list of best photographers in the world (in my opinion)
Yes yes i am inspired by your list of best photographer in the world.....

+altern8ive I guess those guys aren't for everyone. I am definitely inspired by a wide range of photographers and creative people. I just wanted to share some of them. I hope some of my other worlds best photographers inspired you in some way.
yes Ed, thanks, of the 18 links, 17 are very inspirational :)
