A Day at the Beach - Virginia Beach, VA

- Summer is here in the USA and it was time to visit the beach. Jack grew up close to Virginia Beach, Virginia so we find ourselves visiting the area a few times a year. On this visit, the sun was shining and the summer crowds were just starting to show up. We enjoy the surf and sand and sun for a while - then we planned to visit a museum that sits right along the Virginia Beach boardwalk. But when that fell through, we decided to enjoy an a round of mini golf at one of the numerous courses in near the beach. We wrapped up our day at the beach enjoying some fresh seafood at Harpoon Larry's Seafood & Oyster Bar. We are exited to share our first day at the beach in summer 2023 with you!

Virginia Beach is hands down our favorite beach! We always walk miles and miles each day when we’re there.
We do love Virginia Beach. It was nice to enjoy a day out in the sun. We definitely walked a great distance on this day. Which we regretted when we had to walk a great distance back to the car after filling up on seafood at Harpoon Larry’s. Thanks for watching and commenting!

This is the beach my grandparents took me too when I was younger! That is awesome that you can see dolphins like so close from the shore! This ain't the PGA Tour LOL!!!
It really wasn’t the PGA tour. Although, it might make watching golf more entertaining if they had to putt between a giraffe’s legs every now and then. We loved seeing the dolphins so close! Virginia Beach is always a sentimental favorite destination to us. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Anytime a beach, Boardwalk and food are involved, it's a great day. Large crowds are generally typical though because we all crave it.
Indeed. It did all make for a great day. There were big crowds… but they get even bigger in July. But it is worth it to enjoy the sand, surf and sun. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Fun day at the beach and in town Jack and Alice. We've visited before and I've never seen so many people on a beach anywhere. Had a great time though and there's so much to do and places to eat! Concerts with big time performers are never inexpensive anywhere anymore! Enjoyed your tour. The food looked delicious! Glad you had a nice beach trip! We haven't been to Virginia Beach since 2019. The Latin music festival looked like it would be fun. Jungle Golf is a nice looking course. Yaaay for the team win! Ginger kicks my @$$ at mini golf. Looks like air hockey evened the score a bit. Harpoon Larry's look like such a fun spot. Menu, food and drinks looked delish! Beach trips are where I will likely meet my worst bout of temptation to relapse on alcohol. 😂😂 Sorry the entrée was a miss, but it happens no matter how good a restaurant is overall.
We did love our day at the beach. The food at Harpoon Larry’s was great. Jack was actually winning mini golf big time after the first six holes. Unfortunately for him, there were twelve more holes after that and once I got warmed up, I never lost another hole to him. He did get me on the air hockey though. Hang in there on your avoidance of alcohol - even at the beach - if that is important to you. There is a lot of fun to be had even without alcohol. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

There is nothing like a day at the beach to rejuvenate you, but I think Bill wouldn't agree if it was just so crowded that you can hardly move. It looks like ya'll hit it on a great day. Still plenty of room to move around. The Juneteenth event looks like it was going to be fun. Yes, those miniature golf places are very appealing so since you couldn't go to the museum, that is fun. So, after that comment, I know exactly who won. 😂. Dinner looked tasty.
Yeah, we really did hit a perfect beach day as far as the crowd goes. It will get much more crowded in July. And we will try to avoid it then. Thankfully we do know some uncrowded spots since we used to be local to the area so we can always go there if we need a beach day. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment!

I would love to visit Virginia Beach someday! This looks like the perfect spot to get away. That statue is EPIC! Such a beautiful beach, it looks so busy compared to our local beaches, so nice to see so many people enjoying the beautiful beach. Love the dolphins!! So cool they have concerts out on the beach and food trucks too. Neat there's a museum there, too bad it was closed. Jungle golf would be fun! Congrats on winning Alice!! This beach looks fabulous and big and with a lot of people ! That beach trolley looks great too and good that you can rent a bike there. Great that you saw dolphins as well and I would definitely go on a boat tour to see them :) I bet that the Latin music festival was so good and movies under the stars sounds brilliant. The US life saving service must do a lot of good work. Love the sound of Jungle Golf haha so I'm guessing you Alice won ? I had no idea there were dolphins in this area. I know I’ve told you before I was born in Va Beach and I haven’t been back since I was a young child. I would love to go back. Thx for the tips!
Yes! There are a lot of dolphins in the area. They usually don’t come that close to the beach. You often have to take a dolphin tour boat out to see them. But we saw about five or six of them clearly from the beach on this day. It was amazing. I hope you get to go back to Virginia Beach someday. There is a lot to see and so there. We need to make it to a beach this summer. I have like all the parking apps from all our traveling. This place has such a cute vibe and looks easy to get around. Those dolphins got close.
Juneteenth celebrations - this video is pretty recent. I always thought you guys were 2-3 months ahead with editing. If you are in IL, I can take you guys play mini golf at a basement of a funeral home 😂. When you are married you a team, I’ll have to use that.
You are correct... our videos are posted an average of 2 - 3 months after they were filmed. But if we feel a video is timely (like our first beach trip of the summer - which might not be as interesting if we posted it in September), we push it out earlier. We just got back from Myrtle Beach and will post those videos relatively soon rather than waiting til all of our videos from our Texas trip to April post. We figure people are planning beach trips right now, so our videos are more likely to be useful now than at the end of summer. Anyway, you totally should make it to a beach this summer if you can work it out. If you can't get all the way to the ocean, a nice lake will do. Thanks for watching!

Im looking for a quiet area on the beach. Suggestions?
At the south end of the beach is a place called Sandbridge that is quieter than the more touristy section of the beach in this video. At the north end is a park called First Landing State Park that has beach access. It is quieter because they limit the number of people to enter the park due to limited parking. We have videos about both these places on our channel - or you can Google them for more info. Generally, weekdays at the beach are less crowded than weekends. If you can wait til September, it is pretty warm still but crowds are way down due to school starting back. Hope you have a great time at the beach!
Va Beach is bicycle friendly, not all beaches are.
