Thank you very much for sharing your wonderful work, Sir and I would appreciate if you could mention the blender keys that you are using in this video.
Finally someone knows why particle hair is always flat and doesnt follow rotation, I always had to rotate the object. so it its the tracking axis in that relations setting, have to remember that tip.
Found it!! You must enable the checkbox Developer Extras under Preferences -> Interface, and then maybe reload the addon. You probably had this figured out in the past, but lost the setting when upgrading.
Hello I wanted to ask how then to make lods for objects made with the help of a pivot paintter? I mean, if there are already lods for the tree, then what to do? is there a way with a simple solution to this problem? have you ever come across this moment?
The performance is not too bad for this grass, but if you use an LOD with a different material that did not use the bending effect, you will not notice any impact on performance.
@@ZlPcode Hey, I finally figured it out, turns out I was using the old addon with blender 2.9, btw is there a way to fix the texture flickering? that subsurface is giving?
Hey, first of all thanks for the addon. I have a small problem, when i use it on my plants in blender they all ( every plant ) have the same vertex color at the end which means that they all move like one in UE4. Any idea how to fix it ?
Hi, make sure that any part of the plant that you want to move independently is its own object with its own rotation when you run the script. After running the add-on, you can merge all parts back into one object.
I've gone over this again and again and again and again and again and it just isn't working for some reason. Which is weird because yesterday I made a few foliage meshes and it works perfectly as expected. Any new meshes I make and apply the pivot painter animations it just flings the grass around everywhere. I checked the vertex colors and that is all there as it should be. I've slowly gone over each step slowly to be certain I wasn't missing something simple. Like what on earth could it possibly be......I already have several meshes using your addon and it works perfectly fine. Today suddenly I make any new mesh and it just does not work in unreal. The UV's are applied in Blender, the vertex paint looks as it should and despite using the exact same material (with the different foliage textures) it just does not work. I can't figure it out. It doesn't seem to make any sense
Hi, it is difficult to say, but you can make sure that: you have applied the scale of the objects before you bake them, the objects are not parented to any empty or other objects, the objects have the setting "Tracking Axis" +Y and the "Up Axis" set to Z in the properties window in the objects properties tab. You can also download the newer version of this add-on from my other Video about interactive trees, it has more features but should work the same for this effect.
@@RastoDM Hi, I've made a new video about an updated version of the Pivot Painter. It is called "Interactive trees tutorial from Blender to the Unreal Engine" in the video description of that video you can find an entire unreal example project that also contains an updated version of the grass that you saw in this video. The new shader is blending a bit smoother and not as abrupt as it is from the material in this video.
@@ZlPcode Hi Malte! thanks so much, I was so dissappointed the unreal example is unavailable. Thanks to you I was able to learn pivot painter, I was even able to mix it with the stylized shader i had previous and add in RVTS =]
hey this is nice! im trying to get a similar effect but only inside blender i have a robot who runs on a grass field which is essentially a a plane with grass particles how do i achieve this inside blender! if you could explain it a little in detail would be cool! or share any link u feel will be helpful! cheers and thanks man! @Malte Szellas
Followed the tutorial, it worked out of the box. Grass looks super cool. Thank you so much for making this free.
Hey Malte,
I'm just started to get into Level Design, and this is an amazing tool! Thank you so much for making this!
hi is there a way to get X extents with this pivot painter 1? i want to get the middle position of the X extent in the shader
Then, how to make interactive foliage in the Blender itself?
you make such complex tasks feel so easy and systematic. 👍
This is dope man, well done
Great work, you deserve more subscribers

super nice tutorial! I'll have to give this a go soon
hi, for some reason the grass does not bend for me, why is it?
The material(.uasset) you uploaded cannot be imported to UE5. Anyone know the fix?
I'm using Blender 3.0, PivotPainter is not working for me. It does not create the UV Maps
This is so cool! Thank u! Where can I send you a donation??
Great tutorial! Looking foward to more!
Hey, great tutorial man!
I installed the pivot painter addon but when i search for it like you do at 5:40, blender cant find it. Any idea why?
Same, I wanted to try this workflow got stuck at the same part. I might give it a try with an older version of blender
Same I'm stuck, I'm trying to find a solution!

@@youlie2849 Thanks!
Hello, sorry for the late reply.
I updated the version, now you can find it again and it has a button in the object menu of the 3D view.
Sorry but where do you find that UE project that contains all the examples? I'm not able to find it.
Found it! If anyone else has this issue, it's in the learn tab in the epic games launcher. I was searching marketplace.

subbed man. You are amazing. Thank you, so much.
Hey! Is there any way to have some kind of delay of grass going up? So we will see a path of the player?
Is Pivot Painter not on UE 4.26?
Hi an amazing help, gratitude. i am asking is it possible to add more static meshes to interact (bend) the grass material too on its own way
what unreal version are you using for the material? I can't import them in unreal version 4.25
Can you put your level at download?
Thank you for the tutorial, it was super helpful!
This is impressive! But how about the performance cost?
The performance is not too bad for this grass, but if you use an LOD with a different material that did not use the bending effect, you will not notice any impact on performance.
thanks for the tut and the material , very nice :)
Awesome dude, ty and ty for giving it out for free!
Great tutorial, however, I'm having a problem, my grass is pushing up and down instead of wiggeling, can someone explain why please?
Hi, did you change the tracking axis of your object to +Z like I did at 3:51

How to give a kind of more elastic physics to the plants like in ghost of tsushima is the a way just asking
I am currently working on the next version, which also works with trees. that could give you the look you are looking for.

I'm probably really dumb but how do I install Pivot Painter?
never mind I figured it out
I had the same problem. For anyone else here confused, don't unzip the add-on zip folder. Install the actual zip folder.
