- Walter Wegmüller was a Swiss painter & musician who only released one album in 1973 called Tarot. Tarot was originally released as a 2 album box set containing a set of tarot cards + cards containing artwork, pictures of the musicians (who were the cream of the crop in the German cosmic rock, or "krautrock", scene in the 70's) and credits. All housed in a silver foil box. For the first time in 50 years the original box set has been reissued.
Some of the musicians within are Klaus Schulze (Ash Ra Tempel, Cosmic Jokers), Harmut Enke (Ash Ra Tempel, Cosmic Jokers), Manuel Göttsching (Ash Ra Tempel, Cosmic Jokers), Jürgen Dollase (Wallenstein, Cosmic Jokers). The recording session was engineered by none other than Dieter Dierks!
Here's my unboxing and thoughts on quality and sound. Is it worth the price?

That’s a great boxset Nico. You’ve convinced me to go ahead and buy this. I’ve had the spallax cd and always wanted a Lp version but originals are very rare and thru the roof in price so this reissue is a great choice. Thanks for making this video and sharing. Take care John 😎👍

I know Manual Gottsching and Schulz, but i never heard something from TAROT!!! It’s a supergroup for sure!!! I must listen to it…. I’m a huge krautrock-folk fun and it’s a shame that I never heard of this album!!! Waiting for your next video….

Hello Nico. I cannot say that I am familiar with the Tarot album. Of course I am familiar with Manual Gottsching and Klaus Schulze. Manual is one of my favorite guitar players. Crazy that it took me so long to start enjoying the both of their music and Ash Ra Temple. >< That surely is one beautiful box set. The cards were a nice touch. Thanks for sharing it. I will start off by checking out the song Der Weise. Good to see you back~

Nico, thank you for showing this classic reissue. There is also a 4 -cd version that includes a remaster done by Dieter Wegner as well as the one by Dieter Dierks.

I just received the standard reissue lp. Unfortunately it has no inserts or extra photography. But it sounds excellent. And is a brilliant album start to finish. Very happy to have it. I also started listening to Westrupp's acid folk albums. Very good too. Have you listened to their 'Trips & Traume' album from 1973 yet? I hope to pick up a copy soon.
Hey and thanks for watching! Yeah, I contemplated settling for the standard LP issue. I'm normally not a box set collector, but I opted for this issue since it was released that way originally. It's a shame they didn't include the inserts for the standard issue. I'm glad though that you are happy with it. I have the Witthüser & Westrupp album Bauer Platt and Der Jesuspilz. It's been a long time since I listened to those, so I might pull them out again. Thanks for reminding me!

Hey Nico, welcome back! I was stoked when Tarot was reissued. I purchased the records only, not the entire box set. The tarot cards and other inserts are cool, I just didn't want to drop the extra $ for them. The other Cosmic Jokers lps were released as well and I jumped on them. Nice seeing you. Peace.
