having the trekking poles on the inside also means less chance that rodents will chew on your handles at night. That always concerns me with shelters that have a handle on the ground set up for the trekking poles. rodents chewing handles on the ground happens a slot. :)

Looks like that tent is under two pounds. I’d say given the features and usable space well worth the weight… this is a great design. its a little on the pricy side for a one person SIL nylon tent but. I’m guessing the features requiring extra time to actually produce the tent are what drives the cost up a touch. It’s a good buy though for what the user gets. I’d be interested in hearing a long term review once you have some miles on it in terms of durability and craftsmanship (how well it is put together). I have a Durston Pro 1 but this tent has reallly peaked my interest and would have made me have to think about my Pro 1 purchase. Any talk about a dynema version?

After becoming a fan of their skirts, and dress, I decided last fall to upgrade my tent to a Firefly. I really do love this tent, it’s perfect for my needs. My favorite features are the quick setup, low cost to weight ratio, roomy interior, and the larger vestibule with convertibility to an awning. Thanks for your review!

Wow absolutely fantastic and unique design. I love the poles out of the way, big floor and awning. Tarptent are very unique, I have the single Rainbow. I got it partially because the 45 inch wide floor makes the tent a 1-1/2 person tent like you mentioned here. Awning can be great for not only venting but changing or cooking in a drizzle. If the make a Dyneema one I really might bust out the wallet. Could be a great lite duty winter tent too.

Enjoyed the review. I've used the Six Moons Design Skyscape Trekker for 10 years (~29 oz, seam sealed). Very similar design. I replaced the original spreader bar with pex tubing, such as the LHG Firefly has. I backpack NW Wyoming in shoulder season. Absolute bomber in high wind, rain and hail in exposed locations above tree line. The one difficulty is the single panel: condensation and sag under snow/rain/ice load. That's caused the infamous wet sleeping bag issue. Condensation on the single wall also shakes loose inside the tent (inside mist/rain) in heavy or sustained rain. Can't wake often enough to wipe it down. When temps go below freezing in early morning, expect ice inside the tent. That's not fun, especially with Raynaud's.
Searched long and hard for a double wall, lightweight trekking-pole tent that wouldn't have these problems. Unfortunately, even the newest, most popular dw trekking-pole tents have narrow (28-32") widths. They do have raised ends though. the LHG Firefly looks really interesting, just wish it didn't have that single-wall. But, it does have the top vent, so perhaps helps with condensation. I'll be interested to see reports on how the sil-ny handles snow and ice loads vs sil-poly. Looks like it can be pitched lower for serious storms too. Any attachment points for additional guy-outs? Heard a report that the So-long got blown down in heavy winds. Of course, that could have been staking conditions. I've had sideways snow and sleet in September. Hail is almost guaranteed so locking down is important.

Excellent comment and points. I haven’t used this tent in any conditions like Wyoming or sleet, snow. I have only used it in rain storms. I haven’t really used it in high winds yet. I am very impressed with this tent. The side vestibule raised is my favorite part. With that vestibule pitched high, I have had no issues with condensation. However, I hear ya on the single wall. That could be an issue in the conditions you have described. All in all, I really like this tent. Thanks for watching the review and the excellent comment. Crow✌️

Awesome review for a tent that doesn't have a lot of reviews. I like the design of this and the SMD Trekker quite a bit. I'm thinking about one of these for an AT thru hike. I like the simplicity of setup and the ability to ventilate versus a single wall tent. I feel like the awning feature would be great for ventilation during a rain. Did you think the lack of ventilation in the foot box area would be an problem? And do you think this tent would hold up to 100 plus pitches of a thru hike?

@@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING didn’t realize I replied to the other persons comment accidentally. I just purchased the silpoly one a month ago. My plan was to use the firefly on 2-3 day trips and my duplex zip on longer 3+day- high mileage trips. With the exception of windy/foul weather, the LHG does seem more sturdy to withstand nastier weather.
