The costume drama series, Downton Abbey, written and created by Oscar-winning writer Julian Fellowes, stars Academy Award-winner Maggie Smith as a Dowager Countess of an Edwardian English country house in 1912. The series portrays the lives of the Crawley family and the servants who work for them, in a time before the last vestige of a century’s old tradition were stripped away by World War and the modern age. My favourite is Atticus’ mother. She loves her son fiercely and wants the best for him, and wholeheartedly welcomed Rose.

Rachel is a wonderful character and so loving. She wasn’t a pushover, though! Love how she handled both Rachel and Lord Sinderby at the registry.

Rose is a fine example of chaotic good. I admire her for her bravery and giant heart. I think it was Lord Grantham who said that if you let her she will love you forever.
Rose was the most spectacular Downton bride for me. That dress could be worn today. ❤❤❤

I can't remember where I read this, but I remember reading that they found her wedding dress in an antique shop and didn't alter anything!

A contrast of two mothers. One, only technically. The other, a woman who embraced her role.
At least she now has one mother worthy of the name. That smile and blown kiss as her father hands her to Atticus says everything that needs said.
I love Rose as a character because she's shown such growth, maybe even more than Mary ever has. Yes she was a spoiled brat in the beginning but she's always been well-meaning and found a rare kind of love, full of genuine affection, during the time that she lived. She deserves all the happiness in the world.

When Carson and Mary are talking, the music or I'll call it "the Matthew and Mary theme" is playing. A nice reminder that Mary still thinks of Matthew. Very sweet!

@@kellicoffman8440The final nail was naming her daughter after Cora and Rachel. 'Victoria Rachel Cora Aldridge.' She was mentioned in the series finale when Rose and Atticus attended Edith and Bertie's wedding. At the time she was 3 months old.

Well in previous episodes it sounded like a marriage of convenience. He did say they were happy once, once the children were grown they lost interest in each other. Unfortunately it happens to a lot of marriages.

Oh, yes! That was fantastic. Lord Sinderby realized Rose is sweet but not stupid.
@@patriciabandeko3842 Yes! Up until then he put up with her for his wife's and his son's sake, but that was the moment he truly saw what a clever and kind hearted person she was, saw her worth and truly accepted her into the family as his daughter (-in-law). 😃

It depended on what interracial marriages looked like. Although there was opposition to Jewish, Irish, and upstairs/downstairs marriages in the European fashion, they still happened. Interracial when it came to color (dark skinned), African, African-American, was the taboo! Downton Abbey didn't know how to handle this without offending their audience. I felt that if they weren't ready to go down this road, then why introduce it?@@dylangarcia3898
@@dylangarcia3898 Rose was going through a rebellious phase with Jack Ross. She wanted to shock and hurt her mother and getting involved with a black American musician was her way of doing that. He cared for her but knew they could never be together. Glad to see Mary step in and talk to him.
