I just wanted to mention, I hope my question didnt sound negative. I love your channel. You make great videos that are easy to stay focused on. It seems like you put alot of effort in to your channel. Is there something with RUclips that is inadvertently holding you back.
Hey dude 😊 Thats a great Q! And I didn't take any offence to it 🙏 I know exactly what you're asking. I'll be really honest with you - I have been scratching my head about this for the past couple of years and I am at a loss to understand why growth hasn't happened to that level. I have seen plenty of other channels grow much quicker - even channels that are much newer then mine. I tag videos properly, know how to do thumbnails, contents is good, etc, but growth is still slow. I have even reached out to RUclips about this and they assure me there is nothing blocking my channel - however, my feeling is that the whole system promotes certain channels, and doesn't promotes others as much. I often feel like I am in the latter category. All I can do is ask my subs to keep sharing the contents, encouraging people to subscribe and like, and help in any way they can to help the channel grow 😊 That is something that I am always grateful for. Truth be told, I have noticed this happening in the music industry that I work in as well. Everybody knows me - major youtubers, companies, etc, but opportunities rarely come my way and last year I actually experiences doors closing, and various people take advantage of me - people and companies for whom I had done free work for for a number of years. Well, thats stopped now because I decided to step away myself and not allow that to happen to me any longer. I am gonna keep addressing this - with RUclips and the wider community - I wanna get the channel much bigger, I want to reach more people, I love what I do and I feel I am good at it and do it in a holistic way 🙏 Anyways, I hope I didn't go on for too long! I'm happy with what I do and the people who follow what I do, whom I'm blessed to have following me, and that will keep me going 😊 🤘 🙏 Have an amazing day my friend 😊 +
Thanks Mark - so glad it was helpful dude 😊 You know, I am so so glad that I did this instead of the OSMO - I found that the comparisons of image quality was so much better on the GoPro an having the mobile phone screen right there and it being able to control everything on the GoPro is so so handy as I don't have to turn the camera around, go through menus, etc! The record button is on the phone also so I don't have to click the button and wait for the light and beep. Its working so awesomely for me 😊 Have an amazing day man!
@@jayguitar update, it was a waste of time and money. GoPro 10 will stop the live view as soon as you hit the record button. I went and bought a 7 inch video monitor.

Jay, love your ingenuity! One can end up buying a lot of parts to make something work as intended. Glad to see you found the parts. I bet a mic stand could be used to hold the camera and telescope into compact height. I bet you could sight a compound bow with a kit like this, because of how small the camera is. Batteries on phones seem to run out of power so fast. Good thing for juice packs. The video is very clear, which I like very much!

I just purchased a GoPro Hero 9. I bought a 7" touchscreen monitor. I also have a nice Samsung Note 8, but decided the GoPro would be a good fit for me instead of using the cell phone like you did. I use my cell phone in the studio for other tasks. I also wanted a second studio camera and with the mods possible and help from RUclipsrs like you, I am making progress. Thanks again.

Glad you enjoyed it. Communicates via wifi and the GoPro app. Works pretty seamlessly. RUclips vids I usually use my Panasonic LUMIX G85 for main cam, Sony NEX5n for B cam and the GoPro I use for overhead shots and some other work too. Hope that helps. Have an amazing day!

Good one jay..instead of recording on the phone and then finally syncing on fcp can be a pain (as there is no time stamp to the wave) I suggest just ad a media mod and add your cold shoe to the and the display mods you have made to the media mods hot shoe and voila you have a completely synced video. In fact you can still and the rode mic to other hot shoe of the GoPro media mod (there extra is one for the light) and you are still good to,go..very very clever DIY.now wait till GoPro blocks this video cause you have just got their display mod sales to dip 😅

'That damn Jay found a hack to save $80!!!' 😂 I know what you mean - the reason I put this together was because at the time I purchased the 8 Hero, the media mod was out of stock and the screen wasn't available, so I had to create a hack to get it all working the way I needed 😊 It worked so I shared..... then they released the 9 with a screen on front! So there no button to press to change the front view to the back view camera 🤔 you have to manual flip the whole camera to either face out your car window. Or inside your car.... that sucks

If you wanted to flip the phone around so that you had a bigger view screen then that can be done by putting the phone holder onto the case mount the other way around 😊 Hope that helps. Jay, loved the idea. It's a really good idea actually. I had thought of this one myself. However, I'd like to give you a little unsolicited advice about the Rode Mic, it sounds tinny to me. I don't know what mic you're using with your GH5 (I'm assuming it's a GH5) but that sounds about 10,000 times better than what you captured. And truthfully the GoPro 8's audio didn't sound that bad. I expected because you were using the Rode for it to get deeper and more rich. That's not what happened. UUUuuuuugh! On another note, your solution to run another app to record sound for an iOS device, not an Android device. I can confirm that an iOS user can record with the VoiceMemo app but nothing else. Also I was reading below on one other's comment that your channel isn't getting the fair share of it's due. I feel that. I think adding a few more likes, and a few more opportunities for ads may alleviate your issue. I'm assuming you're over the 4000 hour limit. I should talk, I'm over the 1000 subs limit, but 4000 watch hours keeps me from monetizing my channel.

Thanks for sharing that. Really appreciate your thoughts on the channel thing - trust me, I have done all of that and still at a loss. I have almost 2.1 million channel views and reaching 140,000 hours watch time as I've been doing this for around 7 to 8 years. I heave learnt all about what to do and how to use analytics to increase chances, etc. I even had a huge RUclipsr tell me that once I reached 10k I would see the channel growing exponentially.... well, that turned out to be a crock of crap! 😂 I can laugh about it now as I have resolved within myself the upset that this has caused me over the last few years, but it still does make me scratch my head. Approaching youtube is not very useful as they just say 'algorithm' and competition - which honestly means nothing to me now. This video is a great great example - by all research and rights, it should have had multiple thousands of views already as the GoPro Hero 8 is a hot topic, I havent seen a video on this idea is anywhere else on youtube, the filming is sound, it is a 4K video (which is apparently prioritised higher then 1080p), it is tagged correctly, titled correctly, thumbnail is correct - but I bet when I check analytics in a couple of days when they come up, it hasn't had that many impressions (maybe 11k across the whole of youtube - entire world). And again, if I approach youtube they will say there is a lot of competition in this field - yes, true, but RUclips have the power and control to create many more impressions and create an equal playing field for everybody on the platform. But I feel that they don't. They promote the people that they wish to and everybody else just feeds into the whole RUclips ecosystem. I imagine that they do throttle a lot of channels in order to limit ad revenue for a lot of people. In the past this has made me really upset and angry and frustrated. But there ya go, the system seems to be the way it is... When I get a chance, I am gonna feed this back to RUclips in one of their surveys because it feels like they are throwing a lot of us breadcrumbs even though we are doing really awesome work (not just myself, but many, many others). I heave learnt all about what to do and how to use analytics to increase chances, etc. I even had a huge RUclipsr tell me that once I reached 10k I would see the channel growing exponentially.... well, that turned out to be a crock of crap! 😂 I can laugh about it now as I have resolved within myself the upset that this has caused me over the last few years, but it still does make me scratch my head. Approaching youtube is not very useful as they just say 'algorithm' and competition - which honestly means nothing to me now. This video is a great great example - by all research and rights, it should have had multiple thousands of views already as the GoPro Hero 8 is a hot topic, I havent seen a video on this idea is anywhere else on youtube, the filming is sound, it is a 4K video (which is apparently prioritised higher then 1080p), it is tagged correctly, titled correctly, thumbnail is correct - but I bet when I check analytics in a couple of days when they come up, it hasn't had that many impressions (maybe 11k across the whole of youtube - entire world). And again, if I approach youtube they will say there is a lot of competition in this field - yes, true, but RUclips have the power and control to create many more impressions and create an equal playing field for everybody on the platform. But I feel that they don't. They promote the people that they wish to and everybody else just feeds into the whole RUclips ecosystem. I imagine that they do throttle a lot of channels in order to limit ad revenue for a lot of people.
In the past this has made me really upset and angry and frustrated. But there ya go, the system seems to be the way it is... When I get a chance, I am gonna feed this back to RUclips in one of their surveys because it feels like they are throwing a lot of us breadcrumbs even though we are doing really awesome work (not just myself, but many, many others).

I have to point out to you that I had no idea that your channel existed and RUclips suggested it to me off their landing page. I typically patrol in the space between technology, solutions, and diy so this is my bread and butter. You should also know that I saw this video FIVE HOURS after you had posted it. So if it got into my feed, then it's getting out there! I'll keep coming back to see what you got going on! Just as a side note: Solid content. Solid HOST (you), you're very up and open! I know you've been at this a while, so my best advice which you've already come to honestly is to keep on keeping on. You're doing everything right.
