Rob, I am so glad I have your channel to watch because I was mostly confused during these entire 4 issues. Hickman's writing makes my brain implode sometimes
Man I'm not going to lie The moment I saw Howard Stark put his hand on his face in my mind I was like oh man he just realized he killed Tony obviously I could be wrong but that is the first thought I came to my mind
I think both are Kang. Remember Howards 3rd option. So the Kang that we see is future Howard fighting against the Maker, however present Howard recognizes his work and uses his new Immortus Machine to break the time cycle. Stopping the maker and freeing him of his fate to constantly fight him. However, he unintentional set Tony on the path to be a better version of Kang, designed to save their world. So to me both were Kang.
I was wondering why Howard Stark would be wrapped up by the beauty of his work, then went and rewatched what Rob was saying at 16:03, but was actually, "I was so wrapped up in the good things I was doing-- the work and the BOUNTY that work provided us.." and then went..ahh, that made more sense..
I was under the impression from the suit Tony builds that he is definitely who becomes that Iron Kang variant. Short of the color scheme, his suit is identical to Kang in this story.
Interesting that Illanya /Magik was the one to come up with the idea of splitting up North America. Fits her character and the others. She's probably the most capable as of a combination of coldness and intellect left in that room
I think it’s Tony, if you look at the Kang clone army there are no iron men involved, why because Kang wouldn’t want more versions of himself. Howard being Kang feels like a weak plot point because then your arguing a self fulfilling prophecy as opposed to a sins of the father story where Howard realise his choices created a son who he now views as a monster which gives guilt and further guilt by realising you just killed said son
This Comic hit Kang levels of confusion ill tell you that much ... Its a good run but then your brain start disintegrating trying to understand WTF going on
Honestly I love the idea of it being Howard because he becomes the monster he hates. It goes with what we learned in only myself left to conquer on how Kang doesn’t want to become kang but has to anyways.
With that ending monologue (which I'm guessing was written before unmasking Kang) talking about how Tony was the only good thing he's ever made, it would be all the more tragic if Tony actually became Kang.
Could be fun to see some of the less popular characters getting the ultimate treatment this time around. Using elements from their unused Ultraverse would be even better. Three new 10 or 12 issue maxi series should be enough to showcase an alternate version of the world (when we take a look at divergent Earth X we know what can be accomplished with 30 issues). Maybe by exploring different corners of this universe we’ll get an Ultimate Panther that rebels against Khonshu or a Spider Woman set in Asia, Jericho Drumm in South America, Spectrum/Photon & Quasar/Uranian vs Euroforce etc. Also having the original Nick Fury from 616 show up would be nice (inversion of the concept).
It's definitely Tony. No doubt. Howard committed to fixing the problem. Even Kang wanted to fix the problem. Only other option is Kang is Captain America. It would make sense. Immovable values and tactical planning. Tony decides Captain America deserves the suit more. Not to mention, little suggests Kang is a villain in this iteration, as opposed to others. Just someone fixing time.
I think The Maker is Ultimate Kang. Or rather, Ultimate Kang is *a Maker.* Reed Richards: "If you could do it all again-- if you could truly change things-- if you had the chance... Would you erase me from existence?" Reed Richards: "...Yes." The Maker is an existential abomination; something that should not exist. I doubt an Ultimate Nullifier would even work on him, *his universe and multiverse* are gone. Let's be real, an Ultimate Nullifier *will* be used on The Maker. If it worked, the story would not exist. The Nullifier alters reality, it doesn't truly kill someone. But because the OG Ultimate Universe is gone, The Ultimate Nullifier can't truly complete it's function, because The Maker's universe is *already* nullified. Miles doesn't even remember it. The Maker does and does not exist simultaneously; it's like quantum physics. He has *built-in quantum immortality.* The Molecule Man *gave* Miles his existence. He was "born" in the new universe. The Maker was not given such a luxury. The Maker wasn't remade, he was recycled. He is outside of his original universe. He is experimenting with another universe. He is from a time *before this reality.* The Maker is *from beyond.* And you know what that means? He is *linear.* *He* is the true counterpart of Eddie Brock, not the Beyonders. Eddie and The Maker also *must* face off, King in Black ended with that being set up. So how is The Maker Ultimate Kang? In Infinity Ending terms, Ultimate Kang is "inside the norm." The Maker, who is "outside the norm," has no need to fear his own existence being negated, because his point of origin does not exist anymore. Ultimate Kang however, despite being The Maker in every other way, is native to the current reality, meaning Ultimate Kang *can* be nullified. He has a point of origin, the spider being taken off Peter Parker. By killing The Maker, Ultimate Kang paradoxically *insures* his own existence.
"Humanity can't function as a utopia" sounds like something a jewel encrusted, silk swaddled and bloated king would say to his starving people. As if any Earth society has made it to the neighborhood of utopia...
Hear me out, what if Kang is Ultimate Cap? Saying that he waited two lives seems kinda specific to something like Cap since obv he's a man out of time. What if at some point He and Tony become comrades and in a conflict with the Maker, Tony dies. In response to the death Cap takes up his armor out of respect and takes revenge on the man who killed his best friend. It's DEFINITELY a reach, but fun to think about.
The only issue with that is Howard's reaction when he took off Kang's mask, if it was Steve who he's never met there would be no reaction except maybe confusion

Gotta go with "Doom". Howard sets Tony on the path to fix everything he couldn't with the help of "Doom" and Tony does a great job of it. After he has the Avengers assembled to build a better future, "Doom" stabs him in the back and uses Tony's progress to setup his rise to become the Conqueror. "Doom" kills Tony while he's off his guard, steals the armor, neutralizes the Avengers, and then clones them to enforce his will. With no Avengers, Tony, Reed, Maker, or Howard to stop him "Doom" rules with an iron fist under the name Kang the Conqueror.
Everything matters! Remember when Reed was going thru and making changes to the world he said hows this world had no Steve Rogers. So they had already took him! Time is soo non linear!

Definitely Tony. There were too many earlier notes to have it be anyone else.
Howard's reaction suggests it'd Tony.
I heard he even broke into my bathroom just to include me as well 🤷♂️
Called it, in the last vid it was tony all along as a twist on iron lad but matured and also not a real kang variant. Hickman is an actual rap god 🕺🏾
if you look, aside form a color swap, iron lad's armor and Kang's are the same so, I vote that its tony.
Freaking Howard, "Howard" you so bad ass..get it

Also, hell yeah, comrade Howard? 👀
