The thing with Ghost is, they're basically doing the whole 70s Rock thing _à la_ Blue Öyster Cult, with a heavy dose of catchy pop melodies. The devil is, after all, a seducer! They try to "subvert the masses", not repel them.
Ghost has been supported by huge bands for a long time. They've been on tour with Metallica and they're all big fans of Ghost. James was even in the audience of a Ghost show once. Dave Grohl also produced and helped record their first ep called If You Have Ghost. I really recommend making more videos on Ghost since they are a very interesting band and their songs vary a lot. They have everything from disco to church-like ballads about Satan. I recommend listening to Rats, He Is, Ritual, Year Zero and Kiss the Go-goat and of course Square Hammer. Those songs really show their range.
Two ways of looking at the lyrics of the song: Either a lover who can see the pain within your heart and doesn't judge you. Or, since this is Ghost, much more likely, the way Satan sees your weakness and pretends to have sympathy to entice you to join him.
Ghost opened for Maiden on the Book of Souls tour when I saw them in Tampa, FL. I'd never heard of them and was pleasantly surprised at their live show.
Jim, Ghost are a fun band, masterminded by one person, Tobias Forge who played the various incarnations of the different lead singer. Check out the video for Cirice, as well as Rats and Dance Macabre. Cirice won Best Metal Grammy Award in 2016 also ! They've only made 4 full albums so far, all chockablock with great tunes.

I'm amaaaaazed you haven't come across ghost Jim. Brilliant band. Tobias Forge is responsible for my album of last decade called Prequelle...he is without doubt a great song writer and performer. Check out his acoustic performances on RUclips as well ...some of them bring tears to my eyes....he originally kept his identity secret which was fun....but various bands splits later and that was not possible anymore despite being really cool in this age of mass communication....anyway still astonishing you haven't heard a single Ghost song before this sir🤷♂️....also I reckon hardest working touring band in recent years....Def on my wish list to see along with Opeth
Message From The Clergy Greetings and salutations, brother Jim! welcome to the Clergy, all are welcome here, we do not judge... unlike some organizations.
To anyone reading, if you ever have the chance, GO SEE GHOST LIVE! I saw them when they were touring with Iron Maiden and they killed the show, even made Iron Maiden look weak compared to them. I've been to many many metal/rock concerts and they are by far my favorite to see live.
Ghost is a band that sucks you in, and once you're in, you'll love them, especially after seeing them live. It's the greatest combination of satanic camp, occult rock, pop rock and even prog in some of their tracks. Ghuleh zombie queen, absolution, ritual, year zero, i could go since i love all their tunes.
Go for the music videos for the next track. They're great showmen and their satanic imagery is a big part of their band identify. I do not agree with "standard lyrics", it's their sound that's standard if anything. The lyrics are satanic in nature but interwoven in catchy hooks and mainstream radio-friendly pop sound. I suggest Dance Macabre, Square Hammer or Kiss The Go-Goat
Love your videos Jim! You keep picking bands I love and it’s a pleasure to hear the songs for the first time again vicariously. Next Ghost picks to consider: Ritual, Rats, Secular Haze.

Just love peoples reaction of their first Ghost encountering. The music video is clearly influenced by Stephen Kings Carrie. I think the title plays with that name. They are in and out of progression, would be cool if you reacted to their instrumental track Miasma
Every now and again I just search through the latest Ghost reactions. Happy you enjoyed it and hope you will listen to more of them! The ending is as such because it leads into the next track. Every Ghost album is a concept album that builds on an overall concept.
Hi, Jim! How's it going, my friend? This is so cool, I love Ghost. Like you said, it's just super accessible, easy to listen metal, and it sure has a pop vein to it. It's so good, the production is always impeccable. I like almost all of their albums from start to finish, the only exception being their second one, Infestissumam. Really great, fun stuff. Cannot wait for further reactions. My number one recommendation would be "Miasma". It is an instrumental, and the song that single handedly started my Ghost craze a while back, I'm 100% sure you'll love that as much as I did. See ya on the next one, Jim!

I read something about the leader of Ghost, that he was a failure with his prior band (can't remember the name) and started Ghost as a way of starting over. Reminds me of Andy Tillison, leader of The Tangent. prior to recreating himself, he spent years releasing music under the moniker Parallel or 90 Degrees. With very little success, he started over and added some mainstream musicians and, hence, made millions in record sales. Same as Ghost.
He was in more bands such as glam metal band crashdiet and death metal band repugnant. Repugnant only had one album. It's very cool to hear the heavier side of Tobias. The album is on youtube
I started to listen to Ghost about a month ago. It's very Swedish. As you said with the clean, clear sound. Even though they are their own one comes to think about other Swedish musicians like ABBA, Avicii, Europe, Roxette etc. But also obvious inspiration from all kinds of metal bands. The lyrics are mostly fun. I hope you'll try out a couple of more songs by them.

Think of this band as something that spawned out of Blue Öyster Cult's Don't Fear the Reaper, Ghost's songs are all about Satan, and it's therefore a lot of dark humor where he might sing a catchy song about all the different names of Satan for example (It's an old myth that saying all of Satan's names is how you let him possess you)
Your observations were spot on Jim. Accessible, very clean. Pop-metal basically, with a satanic edge (they're not really satanists though). A good band to fall in love with, trust me. Not demanding at all. Just very good fun, but a lot of cleverness goes into it. If you want to listen to more as an entry-point to the band, I'd recommend Square Hammer (sort of in the same vein as Cirice, the same era), Rats (newer, slightly different approach to production). For the older stuff I'd say Ritual is a good song to start with. The very new stuff like Dance Macabre and Kiss the Goat is cool too, but it doesn't really have much to do with metal anymore. Still really good though.
Devastating news, off to watch Igorrr in Manchester on 8th December but both the singers have been cut from the band. Was well looking forward to watching Laure Le Prunenec, as she is one of the best singers I have ever heard, such a beautiful voice. Even so Jim stick some Igorrr on please :)
