Great but you need to make stuff they can repair and replace consider a sand and charcoal water filter instead of the reverse osmosis as the filters will wear out and replacements will have to be imported.

true, and optimization isn't that hard since their prototype works!

With filters it is easy to "improve them" ... by increasing the size of them. Cleaning them from "dangerous organic materials" should be easy enough if you simply empty the materials and let the sun "burn out" bacteria. Water can be cleansed from bacteria by simply putting it in plastic bottles and letting the sun do its work, so doing the same for any filter material that will get rid of the rest of dangerous stuff should recharge it.

Ummm ... so you design something to help people who really live basic lives ... and then measure it in "phones charged per day"?

There are considerably more people in the world with mobile phones than with access to a toilet or running water. Like it or not, phones are now critical worldwide.
