Why do I Hate my ALTO trouper PA bluetooth speaker. (2 reasons why and soundtest)

- Thats right everyone, I hate this speaker. I was very surprised at the fact that this thing has so much background noise and static when paired with bluetooth. It's just very annoying, and does not go away completely when music is actually playing.
the second thing is that for some reason it cannot link with an external power subwoofer. Unbelievable. - Развлечения
I use an Alto Trouper via a small mixer with FX (you really have to) in church - duo vocalists and one keyboard - TC Helicon Create pedals for vocalists. Behringer 1002FX mixer. 60X120 - 300 people - the sound is KILLER. Other musicians are awe-struck that we get such a full, robust sound from this little PA & mixer. BTW - Bluetooth never used.
Was just wondering if you had the same issues plugging it in direct. I purchased one of these and another off-brand unit that looks the same. Not too concerned with the bluetooth thing so much but if they hiss even while plugged in direct that could suck for me lol
Wouldn't you go into the sub first then to the Trouper?
Right you are, Tim. Whereas you can do it both ways, the pro way would be lead the audio signal cables to the SUBWOOFER first, then to the SATELLITES from that. Easy as peasy, really.
Yes .. this guy don’t get it
Take them outdoors , that's where the alto will easily outshine that JBL. These are 2 very different speakers for two completely different applications .
hey buddy! thanks for watching and the feedback. You're probably right, I agree. For me it was mostly the annoying Bluetooth HISS and static that pissed me off with this. Eitherway the JBL and any other brand name speaker I have ever heard does not have that hiss noise on Bluetooth.
what about using it without Bluetooth and who the hell uses Bluetooth for professional use. Bluetooth is trash by nature for sound quality. might of well hook up an AM radio to it,
My man.. this is a PA.... it's for live performance. bluetooth on it is for _maybe_ rehearsing to backing tracks. anyway its not comparable to consumer home use mp3 players that are meant for bluetooth
hey buddy!! thanks for watching!! You're right, but I just don't understand why there is such a huge HISS sound from the bluetooth connection. Not even the cheapest POS speakers from china I own do that. Otherwise this unit is pretty impressive, I have since returned them btw.
so this would be good for acoustic guitar playing?
Yes. It has the correct frequencies for both voice and acoustic guitar.@@thedirtbikedude9090
Your comparing a PA speaker to a home use bluetooth speaker........
And considering the looks, the Alto looks like a dope PA speaker while the other one looks like a humidifier/fruit juicer. 😂
Right, Jeff. On B&H, the Alto Pro Trouper is in the PORTABLE PA LOUDSPEAKER category. That old see-through plastic Harman-Kardon was but a PC SPEAKER weakling. Apples and oranges, really.
LOL...actually you convinced me that the alto sounds much better than the HK, but the whole comparison is like apple and oranges. The Alto is really clear in the range it is supposed to work at, the HK is dirty as....
Not to mention one is designed for PA use and one is designed for home audio.
Superb speaker, best deal for the money. Will be soon using them in a professional, 110 square meter for the industry only film-video screening room and vocals and music evaluation room.
I just heard that if you use Bluetooth, you will not get sound from the "LINK OUTPUT" for a subwoofer. I wonder if you tested the speaker with Refular LINE INPUT and a SUBWOOFER?
My sub wasn’t working till I turned off Bluetooth. The instruction / users manual doesn’t show that you can’t power subwoofers when using Bluetooth. Peace Crazyhorse.
The specs tell you this has a roll-off at 65Hz. It's a PA system for solo performers or small ensembles - specifically NOT designed for deep bass. It is not a party speaker. Performs great when used properly for it's intended purpose. Glad you returned the Alto and I hope you've got something now that works better for you.
Sorry, but this speaker is not meant to do what you are trying to do with it. Comparing it to that little speaker is actually humorous.
We use two of them in larger venues as companions to our Bose S1’s. We are an acoustic duet and the Altos are loud and give us great coverage.
your comparing a loud speaker which btw by my hearing was performing on high end more than low against a home bluetooth speaker which is more aimed towards bass heads..... more bass doesn't mean better quality the alto trouper is aimed at (by marketing) solo performers/karaoke or paired with a PA system which uses subs and these would be top column speakers
this is evident in your video: frequency range of 65Hz-20,000Hz its designed to have a high/mid pass filter on it
also the hissing is a ground loop issue with your house wiring most speakers will do that unless they have a power noise filter/ground loop isolator on the input or output of there amp PSU (btw "Pro audio" expects clean power due to the working environments that they are aimed to operate in) if you dont believe me go back in your video i bet the hum is at the same frequency as your Power Grid 50Hz(UK)/60Hz(US)
this was slightly unfair as you was pushing your expectations on the speaker and not considering what you bought or how most audio systems work
also your bluetooth speaker has really dull mids (issue with V shaped EQ, also shows that speaker is either running a single speaker cone orrr 2 with low/high pass filters) makes it sound muddy
I have alto trouper for 2 years the one I noticed is the distortion of its bass when the sound reach its 80%(the sound came from my iPhone via Bluetooth)but if you use it with the mixer its more louder and bass its not distorted with the mixer
I literally notice so much noise and static when the volume is even at 50%. I had to get rid of this. I tried all the inputs, they all sound bad overall. I prefer the sound of any Harmon Kardon over this.
If you want i’ll get that for 100 dollar
hey buddy!! I got rid of this already, had to take a 25 dollar restocking fee hit, Hate this speaker though, it was worth it.
I've been giging with two of these for over a year now and they sound amazing no worries what so ever with the bluetooth so I'd say you either have a faulty one or you not eq it properly
Hello bro can electric guitar paly ?
@@thekumbhashow6305 sure can
And when hooking up a subwoofer, why wouldn’t you go to the subwoofer first, and then from there to your alto Trooper?
I wonder if you just got a bad Bluetooth in yours. I’ve heard other Troopers, and I haven’t heard the hiss.
Yah we have 2 pairs in my job site at the restobar,,The problem is i can't even connect to bluetooth then annoying tiktak sound connecting bluetooth ,,,But its a good sonic sound nice its very clear vocals for performing with the band we push it to the limit i think this machine is good only for hard wired connected, or better the factory must produce wifi enabled instead
Maybe ok for monitors but not for front stage, you will need 4 troupers on top of 2 subs each side for a 100 people, made for a price, looks good until you peak inside, cheap as chips, because they are so light you will need to strap them down to the subs, and if you power them up you will be blowing the tweeter pretty soon so what do you expect for what they call a compression driver for £18.
I have used two outside at wineries (no subs). With huge front yards, they can hear me clear out in the parking lot. I've never had any issues with them being quiet - mine are very loud, yet warm.
I think you got a bad unit. I have never noticed hiss from mine, though for higher sound quality a dac and wired input is a better option. Also I run my sub out to a crown amp that powers a passive sub box. no issues there either.
I agree with you. My speaker has no hissing sound when connecting through Bluetooth either. You probably got a bad unit.
@@Irentas70 I did replace my HF drivers with a higher quality (and more sensitive) PRV compression drivers on my pair of Troupers and you CAN hear a tiny bit of amp hiss, but once music is playing you don't notice it. Not a bluetooth issue though. They sound so clear now too!
I think you're trying to discredit a good speaker that is designed for mid frequencies and not for subwoofer frequencies
It's ridiculous that you compare it with a home-use speaker that looks like a blender
I have listened to these speakers with djs that use them with ALTO TS218S and they sound spectacular
You did not use it correctly, that's why you hated it, continue with your speaker that looks like a blender.
hey man!! thanks for watching. BTW that harmon kardon aura is one of the best Bluetooth speakers on the market for many years so far, the design was done by a previous Apple designer, that's why it's so funky looking. Either way, you're right, I agree. You did not say anything about the HISS with Bluetooth, you skipped that part. Do you think that was normal??
Yea he tried to connect it to a sub that is intended to be used for home use.
The hiss could also be a ground lift situation.
You obviously received a defective unit. Maybe you could do a fairer review once you get your replacement unit.
Really, you must hate Alto.. The Alto speaker sounds way better 😎
Test by test-Better, There is no question about it (I'm musician)
If you're trying to get audiophile sound from a cheapo speaker and bluetooth you're already half beat. There's not enough bandwidth.. and you're probably running MP3's into it as well..
The Harman gets a lot deeper though for bass.
Alto is cleaner and you are not really picking up the highs which are coming from the top .. HK has a little more Bass ...
I thought the PA sound better and its not even meant for mp3 home use.. weird
BAD PUPPET I use it for most of my home parties indoors. Sounds great even without a sub.
We used to run our stuff through grounded boxes ,that got rid of the buzz.
Sounds like interference introduced from your phone possibly..? For the way and purpose your using it for.. a strictly Bluetooth system like bose or Harmon kardon is probably what you might want anyway?? But if you were using it for live band performance...? Alto will kill the devices that are mainly set-up for Mobile devices.. gain wise in preamp section as well as impedance are a major factor in deciding which would feel your needs best.. the blue tooth on Altos is decent but more of a secondary thing, whereas with Harmon bose etc.. its primary.. anyway good luck in finding exactly what you need, you will..
You bought a defective unit... I hope you get a refund...That's all!!!
hello!! I did eventually return it, had to pay a restocking fee to amazon. It was the hiss from the bluetooth that irritated me mostly.
That thing on the right is a speaker?
I think you're referring to the white thing with the see through plastic case right? Yes, that is the Harmon Kardon Aura Studio speaker. IT's one of the best and most unique designs. IT's got a down firing subwoofer and 360 degree audio.
So, you’re definitely not aware of how to connect a sub to these. From your mixer, you connect to the sub input, the from the sub output to the trouper.
Normally yes... But if you are using the bluetooth function, the sub needs to get a signal somehow. Using a controller or mixer you can then go to the sub 1st and then the PAs.
#1
lol, thanks for watching!!!! U r # 1. YES.
I think when you put your signal in your sub and connect the trouper to the output of your sub, it should work fine. Than you also use the low pas filter from your sub.
hey buddy!! I tried every connection possible, along with every input and every cable, NOTHING. It's possible that this speaker just can't support a powered sub, which is very weird.
Definitely hooked it up wrong. It is designed to work with a powered sub.
Can I get your Alto Trouper Sir?
hey buddy! I returned this thing a long time ago, sorry my dude!! thanks!
Ill buy the trouper if u still have it
hey buddy! Sorry to tell you, I no longer have this speaker. I wound up returning it. It's just not what i thought I would use it for. I now stick to the Aiwa Exos-9 and the Fluance Fi70 for my bluetooth home speaker needs. Along with the Harmon Kardon onyx studio 5.
Alto is way better in terms of clarity
That noise it's specific to cheap/bad bluetooth modules in some speakers. I have 2 speakers that produce exactly that noise.
Alto it's a bad brand. Worst than Behringer. I own both brands.
at 80% alto kill the poor little harmond...
( listen with onkyo 200w, klipsch rf62 )
I didn't buy the alto for its bluetooth. Other than bluetooth, it will trash that harman.
The alto is not made for bass. You need a sub for it and you will appreciate it.
get out the exceed rc rally monster
LOL, did you see the relatively recent top speed run video I did with it. Check it out. Great RC.

Lets hear you play some guitar theough it!
hey bro! Sorry, no guitar playing from me, I gave that life up years ago. Back when I realized I could get more chicks with just lifting weights and being an all around good person, lol, More effective than. dirty grunge guitar look. JK.
That Harmon sounds flat ... troopers are for vocals! Small venue 🤣🤣🤡
Suena mejor el ALTO 🤣
1 reason because there an alto lol
